  1. f#*k yeah, finally a bigtime call / break for the huskers long over due
  2. This is not a hate thread, I'm actually trying to understand thing. What I've gathered so far about the PI calls: it's apparently against the rules to have an arm wrapped around the receiver when trying to make a play on the ball - is that the case? And, in terms of consistency of this happening, is it something the players are taught to do? Can that be changed? Also, so many dropped INTs - why? Is it just poor catching ability? IT's almost like a 'bad habit' (one that needs to be dropped, yes, yes), but I wonder if its psychological or something that can be coached out of. I guess a more main point of what I'm getting at is, what, if anything could be done differently in terms of having our secondary use good technique when identifying the ball and / or pursuing the ball while in the air? I'm hesitant to say it's just a matter of talent and/or instinct Also, I heard some of the ESPN announcers say how because of the recent history of being penalty-happy, it makes the refs even more likely to throw the flag. IDK about that, and I think there have been bad calls on several teams. But I'm more wondering what , if anything, can be done by the actual players to improve or change. Or if this is something to simply expect and deal with.
  3. That to me is what separates him from most QB's. He gets just as pissed about making bad plays as anyone, but still has the ability to put it behind him in a blink of an eye and drive the team down the field to victory. Yes. Even on ESPN, he got loads of respect. Other teams talk about how dynamic it is, and I haven't heard one person actually talk about how they hope to exploit his turnovers. When they get gashed for 60 70 80 90 yard TDs and late game comebacks, I guess that's why. This has been a bigtime season for Tmagic. I think on 1620 this week, or somewhere, they were talking about how (like many), Tmagic will be thought more well of after he's gone -- unless he wins big in championship games. But there's definitely a growing difference in opinion, from the local haterade in the heart of cornhusker 'nation', and what other people actually see when they look at Mr Martinez.
  4. This sounds realistic. I'm going to hope for the most unlikely thing - 21 points in the first quarter by NU, coming out like they ought to, on fire at home, and actually catching one of the many INTs that drops in the defenders' hands.... I'm curious to see which quarter will be NU's worst. 4th quarter magic 'is to be expected'. Owning another quarter would be great. A beatdown at home put on PSU is in order.
  5. Yes, he's tough. Also, on Taylor's (last?) td run, it was a great play. It was an actual 'bootleg' run. ... I recently played a 96' SNES college football game on my computer because it's one of the only ones I could find (I was getting really bad 'coaching withdrawal', I think after the OSU game), and it actually has, as maybe one of the 6 run plays in the game, the exact play that Tmagic ran for the score, a bootleg qb run that is based off of a sweep or toss fake. Needless to say, I played the game as Nebraska all the time and would run it tons. So it was kind of a fun moment to see it play out in 2012, live.
  6. Yeah. The replay on that tmagic hit to the head looks scary, brain damage - like. I'm glad he's alright. The MSU quarterback, I think in the late 3rd or 4th, took a huge shot to the head because he was scramling on a 3rd down play. It was a designed run actually, and he got taken down to his knees then smashed by someone else. He was wobbling all the way to the sideline - I wonder if that affected, or spooked him - the rest of the game. Kenny Bell took out 3-4 players on one of Martinez' long runs, it was great - like Sandler in the Waterboy. If there was one less turnoverby the offense, or, there was a few first downs in the 3rd quarter, the game would have probably been over sooner. -4 yards and 8 plays on offense in the 3rd... that's unacceptable. But MSU was playing well then. At least, compared to the NorthWestern game, I felt like Nebraska 'earned' a win here, rather than simply getting purely lucky and playing absolutely terrible the whole game. On offense and defense, with some exceptions to the turnovers and mostly the 3rd quarter, nebraska played good football a good amount of the time. I'm not congratulating all the huge runs by their running back, but, I think Nebraska actually had an identity, a plan, and executed it more often than failing to do so in this game, which makes me feel good about the coaches.
  7. Part of me hopes that now there is 'belief' in the husker team, they will start having so little time between 'prime times' that they get better and better at firing on all cylinders all the time. I think PSU will be a big deal in that way, because I think we will either open a big can of whoopass, or get gassed and have another inconsistent game. I know the never quit attitude is there. I just want to see, as said, a complete game. Particularly one where Nebraska comes OUT strong and doesn't look back. Blowing up PSU would be a huge deal for the program. but I think the Michigan win may have been a significant turning point for the season, even/inspite of their QB falling out. If the belief turns into the hunger to become even more on top of their game, and 'claim what is rightfully theirs', then that will be powerful, and exactly what nebraska needs. I think, if that happens, it will be something that - as a young fan - haven't seen in a long time. Maybe even the first time since I've started following the team closely (start of BC era). There's been hunger and there's been talent, though usually more defensively, but, I haven't seen a sense of ascension, wanting to rise above and beyond, and be real championship material. I think there is potential for this trajectory to boost the program to the next level -- IF it continues. But I think this is maybe the most un-filtered or raw 'hope and belief' I've had as a fan in a while, myself. I've always supported, but maybe just maybe we're getting there.
  8. try going to espn3 (online, search) and replays - you should be able to see the nebraska game there.
  9. I've found it actually very useful to watch these games again to better understand the team and what happens... I'm sure that's obvious to many, but, I was surprised how much different things seem during a rewatch, rather than during the heat of the moment. First, listening to the ESPN crew, they gave a decent amount of respect to Nebraska and Taylor in the pregame setup, which was nice. More updates to come as I see them. (I still don't understand what the PI calls are about, but, I think that's being covered in another thread) Feel free to share any insights you gained from re-watching the MSU game
  10. I remember pretty clearly the husker sports network saying how it wasn't actually that big of a hit. PJ, rather, was already off his footting, so upon impact he was ready to fall back. THat's what I saw when I saw it happen live, but, I'm watching the game again now, so, we'll see.
  11. Yeah, the officials were bad for both teams. Respect, though, best
  12. Yeah... I mean.... even if we don't have the best punter or FG kicker for a backup, I'd rather take someone who is consistent at 30 or 40 yards rather than 16 yard shank punts. I don't hate him, but we need more options, that's all .
  13. Gholston, apparently, kept laying on players for a while, according to the radio crew
  14. Really? I thought he had scored so many before... but maybe they were all drops :-/ Big Time catch for Jamal tonight. Well done.
  15. QUotes from Bo's postgame: "We need to become a *smarter* football team" lol I also like this "I have a lot of respect for that football team -- that we just beat"
