  1. No. He should have spent the year learning from arguably the best punter in the nation. Instead the kid has to live up to him every punt. Next year he'll be way better without that pressure. I am sure our ST coordinator can give help him with his punting technique.
  2. No idea, but our fundamentals have been poor all year. On the plus side, I think they are better than last year.
  3. Not sure why we are even using this. Tommy is not full speed to be effective at running the ball.
  4. Do we not have some high percentage plays in the play book to get into rhythm?
  5. The D is undisciplined and has poor fundamentals.
  6. Much respect for knowing when its time to eat crow. I have been there myself at times.
  7. I am not sure who we will see this weekend, but my guess is Tommy won't play. I know I will get skewered for this, but I don't think Fyfe is as bad as most do. I just don't think he has ever been given the best chance to succeed behind a hobbled O line or play calling that did him no favors (Purdue). If he plays, gets time to throw, and doesn't have to deal with air raid play calling the whole game, some may be surprised this weekend. I don't want to turn this into a Fyfe debate as that has already been played out..... just giving my $.02. On another note, I like what I saw in the Spring game last season with Darlington and how he went through his receiver progressions. Not a large sample to draw from, but against Maryland he may do a great job as well?
  8. The Huskers have been consistent in a few areas such as controlling the 4th quarter on the positive side. On the other side, we have been consistent at being mistake prone which I think is the worry for many fans in this game to include me.
  9. -Newby is having his best year as a Husker and just looks much improved from years past...starting to make me a fan. -The D needs to keep working on tackling skills. -Our secondary still makes me nervous. -The offense is still inconsistent. They look like they are firing on all cylinders and then bam... its like they got a bad tank of gas. -We need to clean up the dumb penalties. -The team has a never quite attitude! Great Win!
  10. Alright.....lets go D!! No more noodle arm tackles and the secondary needs to play tight.
  11. Has anyone else noticed how often we seem to get burned for chunks of yards on this play? If my gold fish memory serves me, Minnesota got some big yardage on this last year and most recently Oregon. Is this on the undisciplined play from the DE or is there something else I am missing here? (Real question) I believe we are going to see a lot of this from Northwestern this week.
  12. YES!!!! Said with a fist pump.
  13. Happy to see Riley did not chase the point after the Ducks first 2Pt conversion. Helfrich "got cute" and did not play smart football by going for all those 2Pt conversions.
  14. Oregon looks smooth and relaxed. We look scared and out of rhythm. Hopefully we can settle down and find our mojo.
  15. Its like you read my mind. The only things I might add.....the secondary does look more confident, but being consistent and reliable is still to be proven. We should know more after the Oregon game. Our special teams are REALLY bad. What makes that sting a bit more is that we have a full time ST coordinator. However, our punting gets a temporary free pass in my book for obvious reasons.
  16. I have waited until half time to post. Offense: Looks flat and out of rhythm. The play calling puzzled me a few times as well with run plays to the outside with Ozigbo in. A fresh set of downs deep in the Red Zone, a QB that makes poor decisions and we call a pass play. INT. Defense: More pressure needed by the front four, but overall I like the performance. I am not sure what is going on with the rest of the D though? Disappointing. If Wyoming makes a few more plays that were there, this is a whole different game. I had flash backs of the BYU game on the play before the half. Geesh.
  17. I don't get wrapped up in a snapshot of the statistics as they don't always capture the variables when trying to make a comparison. Sometimes its about the eye test, and Ozigbo passes that test for me.....he is the back I would like to see more. In seasons past, Newby's side to side dancing instead of hitting the hole would drive me nuts however, he looked much more decisive and stronger in our season opener; a major plus!
  18. I agree. We sometimes play down to our lesser opponents which I hope does not happen. Much better if Fresno plays up and give a somewhat respectable showing.
  19. Instead of adding anything to the analysis, I will just keep it simple with a very basic answer to the question.....what kind of offense we will run? One that scores. -It could look different on each Saturday depending on opponent, individual performance, injuries and weather.
  20. You do realize that they can't have any more "practices" that are led by coaches. Yes, all teams would be better with more practices, but the team can't practice year-round. You people are difficult to converse with at times. Rather simple minded or something. Of course we all know the number of formal practices are set by rules. The players have to organize themselves as has been the case for decades. That is what captains and leaders and seniors do. If these guys are not continuing to work on things throughout the year, it is no wonder we look unprepared come fall. You could have just clarified what you meant without the derogatory comment.
  21. Eleven seasons in the NFL may play well with potential recruits?
