  1. naw, we still gotta kick him while he's down so some people can feel better about themselves.
  2. so, you are saying you put the idiot in idiotic?
  3. can you expand on that a little bit? I.....don't......know..... Who here can show your age and name that reference? gee spicoli. i.... don't..... know
  4. doubt anyone who wants riley gone would notice either of those when they happen.
  5. with the way this season is going, it probably will be and whoever is losing will make a furious comeback to leave us with nebraska up by 2 with a minute left and minnesota with the ball.
  6. because if the sequence is ran correctly, it nets an easy first down, as illustrated by true's play by play pics. the concept that is alluding most is not looking at the plays and seeing that they should have worked.
  7. read what he wrote with each play. had what should have happened actually happened, more than the 12 seconds that came off the clock would have come off the clock. the second down play was especially irksome because cross was ankle tackled by a guy that was sipping gatorade when the ball was snapped.
  8. They've had a couple picks negated due to PI calls. Those calls were determined to be wrong after the game. The lack of fumble recoveries gets me though. With the added emphasis on stopping the run you'd think they'd have more of them.
  9. we should dissect that 2 and 7 call where imani cross didnt follow his lead blocker then got ankle tackled by the guy running onto the field late. wonder what happens if he gains 3 or 4 yards and makes 3rd down much more manageable. then again langsdorf probably shouldnt have called an ankle tackle play for cross.
  10. Respectfully disagree. Had the offense gotten one more first down at the end of three of the losses, we would've won. and had the defense stopped the opposing team after not getting that first down, they would have won. i can't believe i actually had to type that.
  11. Patrick O'Brien doesn't fit that mold? Or is he not coming to Lincoln?
  12. Yeah, that was a bad one. You never see that called. And it gave the Vadgers a first down. I think the worst one was the illegal formation call that negated a 35 yd run by Tommy in the second quarter. It definitely cost us three points. Might have cost us a touchdown. I think the call was on the pulling guard, maybe Kondolo. Anyway he cheated back a bit from his normal position so he could pull. But he was still overlapping the center by a foot or so. I could've sworn that was legal. I mean, the refs wouldn't let us line a RB that far up into the line, would they? Could we line Jano that far up to get a jump on hitting the LB? I think not. Seems like it's gotta be one way or the other--the guard was either in the line or in the backfield. And he was overlapping the center so it seems like he had to be considered in the line. (Or am I wrong about this? Any refs out there?) his helmet has to be even with the center's belt is how i heard this rule is applied. the 5 men in the backfield call seems to be a point of emphasis for refs this year. not sure if the discussion the board had earlier in the year came to a conclusion that it actually was but it was mentioned.
  13. No, no. Excuse me but we need a janitor to clean house. that's gonna be a lot of work for the mods.
  14. yes, fire a coach less than a year after firing a 9 win coach. naia division 2 position coaches will be beating down the door for a paycheck. because no one would come near nebraska if that happened.
  15. The defensive injuries don't explain the whole secondary regressing versus last year in development to where they can't even find the ball or cover a deep ball. The defensive injuries don't explain why we went to a prevent D and let Wisky gash us running the ball when we know that's been their MO for a while now. Quit making excuses for Riley, please--you're part of the problem by doing that. they rarely played the ball last year. they also werent as good as we thought they were. someone posted a stat in another thread about them ranking towards the bottom in passing plays of 20 yards or more. we just didnt notice because everyone was able to run all over the defense.
  16. The refs are not to blame. We should never be in these positions to begin with. Uh, yes, yes they are IMO, at least part of the blame cause they aren't calling an equal game. You are right, but we have been the RECIPIENT of a lot of questionable calls. They have been equally bad if you ask me. they have been called for 5 penalties and have had several plays on offense and defense where they should have been called for PI.
  17. The refs are not to blame. We should never be in these positions to begin with. If you need to blame the refs....you are not doing yiur job. Simple as that. their first touchdown was after the db did his job but called for PI. these refs blow.
  18. guess Nebraska just really doesn't have a shot at winning.
  19. no, Illinois did a good job of coaching their side of the ball otherwise they wouldnt have had a 50 yd completion on the play this thread is about.
  20. stop, just please stop. we dont need thread after thread after thread of fire everyone.
  21. Depends on design and philosophy and also the situation in the game. Its not black and white like that. It also wasn't a bootleg. no, it is black and white like that. only difference in this play and others like it, is the pass option was supposed to not be used. and you can call it whatever you want, the rest of the free world will refer to it as a bootleg which it was.
  22. I think everyone would agree Frank being fired was a joke. 58-19 record with seasons of 12-1, 10-2, 11-2 (went to NC). All I want is a conference championship. 16 years is unacceptable Frank's record wasn't the problem. His off field issues and lack of recruiting was. If he was as good as we want to think ghe could have been, why is he still at Ohio? if you are going to pin lack of recruiting on solich then you also have to remember he had one coach that drove a cart that never left the state to recruit, another they didnt let leave the state to recruit, and a third that didnt leave the state to recruit for some other odd known reason. and before anyone says "why didnt he just get rid of those coaches", the uproar he would have had to put up with for letting them go would have been insane. but solich's firing is neither here nor there.
  23. wouldnt you want the other 10 guys selling the pass to disguise that it is a bootleg run?
