I know in my case, when I first navigate to the board (open up my browser and type in huskerboard.com or hit the bookmark), the site doesn't know who I am. But as soon as I click on a forum, it logs me in. Strange to say the least, but try clicking on an actual forum and see if it automatically logs you in after that. I think you nailed it.

When I log in, I always check "Remember Me" and yet it will only remember me for a day or two (sometimes less) before I have to login again. I know it's not my browser settings because there are several other forums I frequent where I stay logged in forever. Anyone know what the issue could be?

I was at my parents with my uncle and cousins who were in town for Thanksgiving. I was pissed when they came back from commercial and showed Henery being sent out. I thought Adi was the only one with a chance to kick it from that far out. One of the greatest single moments in my 15 years of watching Husker football. I know the greater context around it wasn't too special considering it wasn't a national title season or anything, but based on pure excitement and amazement, it has to rank up there among the very best. November 28 is now a Husker national holiday: Alex Henery Day.

What a horrible thread. Why would you randomly bring this up over a month after the guy played his last game with Nebraska? Who cares why he did it? Maybe because he wanted to. Who is it hurting? "That is so gay." Are you 12?

I have always wondered how people do these in Photoshop. Similar to the backgrounds that borNred, among others, has used in various sigs. Is there a certain filter you're using, or just going crazy with different brushes?

I think maybe my point was missed. I probably did not word it very well. I'm not saying our offense is completely identical to other teams, but that our main concepts, and therefore the types of players we are recruiting, are pretty much the same. Under TO's offense, we recruited completely different types of receivers and quarterbacks in particular than most other schools. A guy like Scott Frost was essentially a failure on a mediocre Stanford team, and yet he was a beautiful fit for us, leading us to a 23-2 record and a national title. That's pretty incredible. At receiver, a guy like Matt Davison probably would not have started at most big schools, but he was a perfect fit for us. We needed guys that were willing and able to be great blockers, first and foremost. And at offensive line, we could take raw talent (often from Nebraska, even) and mold them into great run blockers. They didn't have to be great pass blocking technicians. Today, we need the same type of QB, WR, and OL as just about everybody else. We need the QB that can make all the throws, the WR who is tall, fast and a downfield playmaker. We need great pass-blocking linemen. So we are recruiting all the same players as the powerhouses who have a big recruiting advantage over us, due mainly to location. Those who follow recruiting know that, if we are battling a team like USC for a kid, we are going to lose that battle about nine out of ten times.

One thing I do question is our offensive style. I like Watson and he runs a good offense, but there isn't much unique about it. I think one of the factors that led to our dominating run in the 90s was the fact that our offense was very different than most of our competitors'. When most teams had thrown away the option-heavy concepts of the 70s and 80s, TO remolded them into something innovative and, with the right personnel in place, incredibly dangerous. The fact that our offense was so unique helped us level the playing field with the teams who had huge recruiting advantages over us. We weren't recruiting the same type of QB or WR (and in some ways OL) that the other powerhouse programs were. Now our offense is almost indistinguishable from what most other teams in the country are running. So we are recruiting all the same players as schools like USC, Florida, LSU and Texas. And we rarely win recruiting battles with those schools.

I don't follow recruiting much. It seems completely insane for any school to actually turn down a 5-star player. Could someone elaborate on the story? Did Seastrunk explicitly tell LSU that he would more likely go there should they stop recruiting Michael? It all seems odd to me.

Until just now I didn't realize one year's game was televised on NFL Network. I was there in person last year but won't make it this year. Anyone know if a similar deal might be in the works?

I won't embarrass myself since my knowledge of the backups on both lines is pretty weak, but I'd like to see what the experts expect.

Recruiting in general is such a crap shoot, but it seems to be particularly so with the receiver position. Just look at the guys coming out of high school: Peterson: walk-on, turned out to be a huge asset for us in 2008. Swift and Nunn: Both recruited for Solich's offense, neither was highly touted. They both had monster careers and ended up in the top 3 or 4 in school receptions and yards. Brooks and Hardy: Both highly rated (four stars). Brooks was rated the #15 WR in the country. Neither did much (Brooks still has next year, but hasn't done anything thus far) Paul: Very highly touted. Four stars and 10th ranked receiver. Hasn't done anything significant for us yet. I wish he would have redshirted last season. Not sure what I was getting at exactly, but you just never know. I am surprised we didn't get more WRs in this class. We are definitely gonna need someone to step up next season.
