  1. It is absolutely NOT terrible. The guy is what, 6'7"? Tall guys usually do poorest in this event. There was a top 5 lineman a couple of years ago who got like 9 or something (I know I'm off there but it was something bad like that). Murtha getting 27 is just fine. Actually it is a very respectable number for a guy that tall. No one in the NFL will knock that number from him.
  2. Probably want to get him into camp and see how all of that new weight looks on him. He might have been running with the LBs last year in camp. Of course if he also grows into those feet in the mean time, all the better. OTOH the staff seems to really like big guys in the back field. I watched the playoff game with Papio South last fall and he made a TD run where he weaved through traffic and read the running lanes like a speed and juke back. I knew he was big for a back but I was shocked when I found out how much he weighed. I think his athletic ability is top notch. AND big backs don't usually impress me that much. I'm much more of a scatback guy. Anyone else see that game and remember the run I'm talking about?
  3. I will believe it when I see him line up at DT.
  4. Holy Shiite, those are some numbers!
  5. I have watched this kid play a lot. He has had his moments, but on the whole he strikes me as a DII caliber QB. He could also develop into a MN type QB and become a DB at the college level. However, I haven't seen him play defense.... at all..... so it's tough to tell. He is very athletic though so who knows?
  6. At this point he seems like he would be less of a headache than Bryce Brown, although Brown looks like a much better prospect and, ultimately, probably more worth the risk. Just don't know.
  7. yes, butler is a leech.... bryce is to blame also, it's not like butler held a gun to his head or anything....i just don't see how bryce needs this butler guy....it's not like he's an unknown prospect or anything and needs butler's help getting a scholarship...the kid can choose any schools he wants to....he's old enough to know right from wrong and what's stupid and what's not....where's bryce's family through all this? you figure they would talk some sense into him....all i can say is they're both drama queens (bryce and butler)....these type of people are a cancer to any program.... It kind of looks that way doesn't it?
  8. Man, this is a little too weird. That Butler guys acts like Bryce's dad. I sure would like to have a kid with his talent, but I'm not sure it's worth all of the potential headaches it looks might come with him.
  9. unfortunately being the most explosive players in the state of nebraska doesnt make these guys anything more than what they are...walkons.I have nothing against them but I will not count on walk ons to be our explosive athletes.Anything these guys do will be EXTRA.We had better start recruiting some smaller speedier guys at WR or our offense will always be somewhat handcuffed.Im not even sure if the guys have to be big time 4 an5 star type guys but they must be fast and able toget YAC.Deep threats are needed in the worst way and as of right now we have none. Kildow ran a 4.39 at the Husker camp last summer right before he tore his ACL. I'm pretty sure that time qualifies him to be mentioned as explosive no matter where he is from. Not only does he have tremendous straight line speed, he has incredibly quick moves as well. I'm not sure how much his height will hinder him as a receiver but I have no doubt he will be a stellar return man for NU.... perhaps as early as next year.
  10. The most likely WR to step up and produce more next year is probably Holt. He is a big target and will be a good possession receiver. However, I would like to see Currenski break out. If he's the one, that means we will add the deep threat we have been sorely missing for a long time. If he can step up and evolve into a real threat it would do so much to diversify our offense. Fingers crossed.
  11. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since Johnny Rodgers returned the punt against OU while I was in the womb. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Destiny. 3) Where are you from originally? Omaha 4) Where do you live now? Omaha 5) Favorite Husker memory? The first time I stepped into the stadium for a game. 6) Worst Husker memory? Tie: 1) Tyrese Knox's fumble at the 4 against Florida State in the 88 Fiesta Bowl ( my one and only bowl game to this date) and 2) Watching the 4th quarter meltdown in person at the 1990 CU game in the frozen stands in the South Stadium. 7) Number of home games attended? 8 8) Number of away games attended? 0 (unless you count a bowl game- then it's 1) 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I have lots of signed Husker memorabilia, some stuff is pretty valuable (including a ball signed by Berringer) but you simply can't beat a Husker hat. It doesn't matter what kind. Your hat is like a declaration to the world that you are part of the classiest college football program there is, and you just can't top that. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Wherever my kids are. 11) Favorite all time player? Gotta be.... Tommie Frazier doesn't it? Silky smooth. Jarvis Redwine and Dana Brinson were always favorites of mine because they were big playmakers when I was a kid. Suh is certainly working his way into my heart with his tenacity as well. 12) WCO or Option? Option, and that was easy. I like today's Huskers, but they really just can't compare to the glory days of watching our OL just plow through people like they were made of cardboard. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Byrne. Duh. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? How bout the hotdog shooter guy? 15) Favorite Husker play? Option Pass! Hands down! 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Iced Tea. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) I know of all things Husker!
  12. Good to see you prowling the threads here, it helps to fuel good discussion. Sadly, I didn't get to see this kid play at all this year.
  13. Wow, that guy is an AWESOME reporter. What d-bag.
  14. The voice reminded me eerily of Bill Callahan! Anyone else think maybe BC posted that one? LOL
  15. I didn't want to jinx this one so I kept quiet (like my personal feelings could make a difference-ha!) but I really have a great feeling about this kid. His measureables are great. He just has the look of a killer. I hope to see him laying opposing players out for the next four years! Sweet!
  16. Norman failed to qualify. Apparently people in Kansas don't know how to read.
  17. Damon Benning likened it to a guy trying to get a job. If the job calls back to set up interviews or to work out details regarding when you start or to get your work papers in (like W2 and stuff) they will only call so many times. If you never get back to them and never answer when they call they will eventually move on. I can't imagine Damon would draw a comparison like that if he didn't know exactly what was going on. It would be very irresponsible of him, and I trust his crediblility. He was also quick to say that he doesn't blame the coach for sticking up for his player, but also said that the coach has to bare some of the responsability for not getting this kid to do his part. The coaches are a main go between. It doesn't make sense for us to just let this kid go. He was looked at as a solid recruit who could eventually contribute and it's not like we have a ton of guys waiting in line to replace him. It looks like our recruiting is done with the possible exception of Eric Martin and maybe a few studs that probably aren't expected to sign with us. Either way, it's unfortunate for the kid, but not exactly a bogus thing that our staff did. Benning also said that once the dead period is over he expects Pelini to comment on this case and explain why it went down the way it did. Good enough for me for now. GBR
  18. From what they were saying on 1620 (I think Damon is pretty credible) this kid cut off contact with NU, not the other way around. They asked him to do several things and he simply did not hold up his end of the agreement. If Bo offers him a scholly and tells the kid that he needs to get updates from him every two weeks or he will be calling every so often to check up on him and see how things are going.... and the kid won't return calls or initiate contact what is the coaching staff supposed to do? If they ask him to send Senior year film by Jan 1 (this is hypothetical on my part but it sounds like these are the kind of things that led to this) and they send no film and the staff still cannot reach him, what exactly are they supposed to do?
  19. sproles = NFL this kid is only in high school Ok.....he doesn't look as fast as Sproles "the K-State version". Usually 5"6 or shorter running backs have that shifty quickness and bursts of speed to go with. I'm talking 4.3 or faster. They could spurt around like waterbugs. Ummm that might be a little off there. 5'6" backs do not "usually" have 4.3 speed or better. There may be a few who do.... in the whole football world. LOL. Since when does a kid get criticized for not being a 4.3 kid? You may need to adjust your standards a little lower.
  20. C.Y.A. CYA, what does that mean? Why cover your a$$ with a guy you no longer covet?
  21. they have a lot of blow in the boulder...both the illegal and legal type. "This is pure snow! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?" Gee Ricky, I'm sorry your mom blew up. Two dollars!
