  1. I'm not buying that. The football team has its own weight room, so it makes no sense for Riley to make the effort to force them to workout elsewhere.
  2. But how dumb was it to give Foxconn a $4 billion tax break? The company predictably didn't meet the promises it had made when securing the tax break. A lesson for Virginia and New York on the Amazon 2nd HQ? (I mean, there's no such thing as a 2nd HQ, let alone two separate 2nd HQ's, so they should already be pretty suspicious of Amazon's claims.)
  3. You're missing what I'm implying - that we could have not had tax cuts and instead funded the state pensions and have the same amount of deficit.
  4. I'm not sure, but it's bad for small-d democracy.
  5. After a good year at OG, I feel I'd make an excellent RB this year. Like the Fridge carrying the ball.
  6. Have you seen any Trump supporters leave him or even begin to question him? The moderate Republicans I know either didn't support Trump from the beginning or left him shortly after the election. The hardcore Republicans in my family back in Nebraska don't question him or won't talk about him except to say stupid stuff like, "He tells it like it is!"
  7. 7% is the historical stock market average when accounting for inflation. So 7.5% is a bit high, but that average is very misleading because yearly volatility is also very high, which means no investor should be counting on a particular return in any given year but rather an average return over a period of 10+ years.
  8. The states have a $1.4 trillion shortfall, and the tax cuts caused a $1.4 trillion deficit. Hmmm...
  9. I agree with you that'd be great, but I think it's more wishful thinking than reality with the politicians we've got.
  10. That worked out pretty well in Iran...
  11. I'm thinking of both Clintons and Obama as political figures that didn't do social things because of economic conservatism. The ACA is great example of a right-wing healthcare plan that's economically conservative and was passed by Obama without the public option or cost controls because those would have been too economically liberal.
  12. Good points. I've mentioned this before, but what Gabe Brown is doing with restoration agriculture in North Dakota (on dry lands without irrigation) is where we should be heading with our agriculture IMO.
  13. So you're talking more about Hispanic immigrants as opposed to Hispanic citizens that can vote? I think those are noble goals; however, I think what we've had in the last few decades is economic conservatism as a crutch to avoid doing what needs to be done.
  14. I thought you'd be the reverse as I thought you'd called yourself a libertarian at some point (but I'm probably just misremembering). I was once economically and socially conservative but have slowly moved to liberal/progressive on both. But I initially became more socially liberal and have only more recently become progressive economically.
  15. I think this is the strongest argument you've made for pensions over contributions.
  16. Out of curiosity, @B.B. Hemingway (or other conservatives) would you move to a socially liberal/economical conservative party or a economically liberal/socially conservative party? Or are there issues that you could hold your nose on and vote for a Dem candidate?
