  1. That tweet is misleading. Both Dems and Repubs are upset that only half the committee will be allowed to ask questions including members like Bass, who is able to ask questions but is upset that not members will be allowed. And it's not about getting airtime either: This is all because Nadler doesn't want to have to subpoena Mueller in order to compel him to testify. Why is the House letting the witness set the terms of the testimony anyway?
  2. That's one of the main reasons Bernie tops my list.
  3. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
  4. You just succinctly summed up a large part of Marx's critique of capitalism. Well done.
  5. Being called "moderates" doesn't actually make it true. I think some of this stems from the way we discuss politics on a single line from left to right. People are way more complicated than that one dimensional categorization. And being between the left and right doesn't mean that's somehow better or correct or moderate.
  6. Haha, true. But the alcohol options are also very good.
  7. House passes border funding bill after Pelosi reversal outrages progressives Pelosi folded after getting assurances from Mike Pence. #leadership If you want to also blame others, like the right-wing of the Dem party, then by all means do that as well. But none of them are the House Majority Leader.
  8. The tears of Colorado players and fans will be delicious. Anyone else think CU is going to implode this year starting with the Huskers crushing them?
  9. Law's Whiskey House is good stuff. The Four Grain is awesome. And I'm not usually much of a bourbon drinker.
  10. Then my same criticisms extend to those Dems as well. But we'll never know how they'd have voted if Pelosi had pushed a different bill. But my point is what Pelosi was doing as the leader. She was pushing for the Republican bill to pass. She (and the others who pushed for the bill) believe that the Trump admin and the Repubs will honor their vague words about how the money will be spent. Does anyone think that's a good idea or a winning strategy? It's some combination of stupidity, naivete, and laziness.
  11. I agree with you, but I'm pushing back against this part of your post:
  12. Bingo. The erosion of our checks and balances ushers in the next Presidents doing even more authoritarian things.
  13. They explain how in that video. Basically push through the House bill which was the same funding but had guarantees on how the money had to be spent. Then get on the news everyday and talk about how the Republicans and Trump won't pass a bill that gets mattresses, blankets, toothpaste, and soap to children. Instead Pelosi pushes her caucus to pass a Republican bill that has nothing but vague promises from the Trump admin about how the money will be spent. If the Dems want to lose more elections, voting in Republican bills without even a smidgen of compromise is one way to do it. Why did voters even bother turning out in 2018 if the Dems won't even use the majority they were given? I agree, but the Senate and particularly Schumer being awful doesn't make Pelosi any better.
  14. I don't think anyone believes it'll just be free. But the Europeans pay a lot less than Americans do and generally get better care. Interestingly enough, Germany doesn't pay the majority of its healthcare costs from taxes but rather most is from premiums. Here's a good article about it: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91971406
  15. Manchin doesn't mention the MNT at all.
  16. I knew Pelosi wasn't much of a leader, but I didn't think she'd pass Republican bills and suck this bad:
  17. I think libertarianism has a broad appeal at first glance. Economic conservatism and social liberalism seems like a good combination. But like many ideologies, once you look into the details, you realize that it falls apart under it's own contradictions.
  18. By that logic shouldn't the male reporters also require a female escort so that there's no opportunity of false accusations of having a homosexual affair?
