  1. I'd like to see Bernie answer a question about his stance on busing. Maybe he'll give a good answer or maybe he'll continue to double- and triple-down with his foot in his mouth like Biden. But looking at the bigger picture, Biden has way, way more problematic stuff than Bernie. The both sides attempt to equate them is pretty lame.
  2. Except Bernie wasn't working with segregationists like Biden was. And I haven't seen Bernie attack Biden on busing at all.
  3. I love that Biden said he'd defeat Trump. I don't think he knows how elections work.
  4. Except in the this case the US coach had said before the game that France didn't like having possession.
  5. I thought France looked like the slightly stronger team for much of the match, but France couldn't finish on their opportunities.
  6. @BigRedBuster, I know you say you're conservative and wouldn't vote for Bernie or Warren, but you agree with quite a few of their policies based on discussions on here. Might be worth looking into their policies deeper and see if you really disagree with them that much. But then up-and-coming candidates are excluded. I'd propose having a maximum of 5 or 6 candidates per debate stage and just have a bunch of parts instead of just 2 parts like this week.
  7. Kamla Harris might have put the dagger in Biden's candidacy. I thought Biden was weak and would trail off as the process went along, but he was terrible last night. Bernie started off weak but got better throughout the debate. He's not a good debater though, especially in such a crowded field. Overall, Kamala Harris killed it. Harris did the best, Bernie did decent, Biden got crushed but will still have good poll numbers, and the rest can bow out of the race. I think the race is going to narrow down to Bernie, Warren, Harris, Booker, and Biden over the next couple months.
  8. I just want to clarify that M4A doesn't abolish private insurance - that's the hot take by the media. What it actually says is that an insurance provider cannot offer the same service coverage as M4A, so that insurance companies cannot defraud people by getting them to pay for what M4A already covers. It's a subtle difference, but it means that supplemental insurance is it allowed. Yeah, the large, circus debate style makes the entire process non-serious and leads to reality TV personalities winning elections. I'm not sure how the DNC should handle it though. Bernie is actually good on TV in interviews and townhalls - he's just not a good debater. Bernie isn't aggressive enough and doesn't attack the other Dem candidates, which I wish he would but that's not his style.
  9. I saw bits and pieces of the debate. I thought Warren was strong and dominated the debate. Booker did well, better than I expected him to do. The rest had little to offer and can bow out of the race.
  10. I'm there with you. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride this season and not worry about the hype or predictions.
  11. Sam Seder does an excellent job explaining why Yang's UBI proposal is a bad idea:
  12. Here's a high-level summary of the successes and failures of the USSR:
  13. It usually takes 6-8 weeks before the bills get processed and sent to you. FYI: This doesn't help you but maybe it'll help someone else. You could have taken the crappy insurance at your company and still switched to your wife's when you got married as marriage is one of the events that allows you to switch your insurance regardless of the time of year.
  14. I've been wondering the same thing: will losing to tOSU derail the season because of the preseason hype? I sure hope not.
  15. We went 6-7 in 2015 then 9-3 in 2016.
  16. I think you've got that one backwards.
  17. That's good stuff right there. Candidate for post of the year.
  18. I agree. I'm just trying to point out the difference in what teach and others are saying and what you're saying as it isn't quite the same argument. IMO the Huskers have been above average to bad since joining the conference. I'm not sure what I think of the B1G. tOSU is the only very good team and even they've had a down year. The bottom-dweller teams have gotten better over the last decade because of the huge money being distributed though.
  19. I’m a Jewish historian. Yes, we should call border detention centers “concentration camps.”
  20. Hillary's "Hope and No Change" campaign making a comeback. Biden speaking to a group of wealthy donors: "No one's standard of living will change, nothing would fundamentally change."
  21. One looks at how the Huskers did in the B1G, then draws the conclusion that the Huskers were good/decent/whatever and the conference was tough. The other looks at the same evidence, then draws the conclusion that the Huskers sucked and the B1G was not tough.
