  1. Is he a guy that could arrive in the spring?
  2. Am I reading it worng? That link has Blue at #10.
  3. There's no way Octo is a DE in the 3-4 scheme. He's most likely on OLB who's rushing from a 3-point stance.
  4. I believe David Harvey is from Maryland.
  5. True. I meant that it's unusual even in the recruiting world.
  6. A few HS baseball coaches I talked to here don't think Hill will get drafted. I don't know how accurate their opinions are, but thought I'd share.
  7. That's pretty strange to commit this early and then decommit so quickly.
  8. Grixby, Jones, and Green started every game last year (or close to it). I'll grant that Green is moving positions, but he also started about 8 games at CB the year before. So we look to have plenty of experience. The real questions about the secondary (IMO): Will the experience translate into better play? Will the inexperienced players move into bigger roles or even start? Will we stay healthy or have more injuries? Will we have a pass rush to help the secondary?
  9. I've heard some other people say the same thing. Which of the LB's do you take out? I'm guessing the WLB. Mizzou and Texas are the only teams that come to mind as playing the "spread" offense against which it seemed effective last year (only 1 game though). Maybe we'd use it as part of our 3rd and long package when we bring in fresh pass rushers.
  10. To play devil's advocate here, how do you know they're even the best players available? You mention that West and Green are at FS, plus we've got 3 seniors and a junior at the 2 CB spots. That leaves SS and maybe WLB (where we have Octavian and Brandenburg, both seniors). I just don't see all 3 of Asante, Thenarse, and Culbert (all Sophmores) getting on the field at the same time, especially this year. I think Culbert is going to play RB this spring, RS this fall to get some separation between the 3, and move to WLB for 2008.
  11. CU spent a LOT of money on getting rid of Barnett and Hawkins is makinh quite a bit also, so I don't know if CU could get rid of him even if they wanted to.
  12. Congrats on the tix!! I will be making my annual appearance at the NU-CU game. Can Boulder top the student section getting ejected from the stadium? I'll be there to find out.
  13. I don't have the link, but Coz said recently the addition of Bowman to the secondary will allow him to man up on that side and roll a safety over for double coverage on the other (allowing Grixby to play underneath as he did in 2005). Whether Grix will retaining the starting job is up for debate, but he'll get some help with the mismatch problems.
  14. Damn good point. I agree. Don't forget about Bowman. Turner and Suh could also be playmakers on D. And Asante might live up to the hype.
  15. Everyone needs to specify which "Jones" since we've got rFR DJ Jones and incoming FR Marcel Jones both on the o-line.
  16. Rumor has it he was at practice today.
  17. Amen. Octo MIGHT have an impact this season but I think he'll disappear into the woodwork. McKeon, Ruud, and Brandenburg have all shown a lot more on the field. Dilliard might also have an impact but he's coming back from a major injury and hasn't shown much more than Octo.
  18. With the OL recruits in the 07 class and Baker and Hoch already committed for 08, Trevor is really just gravy. He won't make or break this class.
  19. Word is he committed to Mizzou.
  20. "Just one binger, to brighten up your day." "Okay, just one hit, then I've got to go..."
  21. Other than a very good 1st quarter against Maine 2 seasons ago, Octo hasn't impressed me. He's supposedly got potential, but he hasn't even looked as good as Ruud - that's why Ruud's starting at WLB. And rumor has it Octo has work ethic and attitude problems off the field which has gotten him into hot water with the coaches. JMO, but I think Ruud is a very good LB, while Octo continues to just have potential. I certainly hope Octo will emerge from the depth chart, but I expect he'll ride the bench this year.
  22. I think it'll be: SLB: Brandenburg, Dillard MLB: McKeon, Dillard WLB: Ruud, Octavian I could see Brandenburg and Dillard switching around though. I don't think there's any way McKeon isn't the MLB. I wouldn't be too surprised if somebody like Covey or Culbert took Octavian's spot if Octo doesn't have marked improvement in conditioning and attitude.
  23. I don't think it looks good for us getting Trevor. He has said he'd like to commit beofre his senior season so how teams do next fall probably won't matter.
