  1. He didn't think that our game with Wisconsin will be more exciting than Kstate-Iowa St? I'm thinking they were using that in reference to the upcoming Iowa/Nebraska tilt. And IIRC, Chuck Todd is a Miami (FL) grad, so he's pretty much looking for a new bandwagon to hop on. CNBC had him on to discuss the Miami story in a panel.
  2. So you came into a Burkhead injury rumor thread to post that you crossdress with your wife's footwear when you "have to take the dogs out", so to speak?
  3. Was flipping channels and came across Jeff Zelney on the 'Daily Rundown' show on MSNBC, and apparently he's a Nebraska grad, because in the 'shameless plugs' section, he gave a shout-out to the Wisconsin/Nebraska game as the best game of the week. Then Chuck Todd (host) said it may be good, but it won't measure up to the upcoming 'Farmageddeon' game later this year, to which Zelney disagreed. So, doing a search, apparently UN-L has a bigshot political wonk in Washington from Exeter, NE done good: http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/panelist/Jeff-Zeleny And let's keep the politics out--just wanted to note the shout-out we got on national TV. I'll try to find a video of it if such a creature exists online.
  4. Can't say I disagree with him. Sure, you may have conflicts with basketball, but you're not going to have packed-full lodging problems to contend with, and I'm sure it would be easier for the BTN to provide more live coverage instead of tape-delay.
  5. Caven's right. Also, let's not forget that we're not really going to be taking a hit with our research by losing the AAU--don't forget we've got the Big 10's CIC, which has helped Penn State triple their annual research grant money from the time they joined until today. If the same thing happens with us in 20 or so years, we'll be sitting very pretty, and we won't give two ****s about the AAU any longer.
  6. What did we learn? That through four games, we miss Marvin Sanders a lot, that our O-Line is becoming a young force to be reckoned with, and that we played teams with a pulse, contrary to what Wisconsin has played through their four non-con games. Oh, and that Nebraska fans have a flair for the dramatic. And hate kittens.
  7. Yes, but that's not necessarily bad. BTW, who is the Ticket Express chick? Some local girl, model, what? Former Miss Nebraska, actually. She also worked at 1620 TheZone for a while in some capacity. A recent one? GIS isn't matching anything I've seen... NM, see the post above. Thanks.
  8. Yes, but that's not necessarily bad. BTW, who is the Ticket Express chick? Some local girl, model, what? You're right, not necessarily bad, you just may want to double bag it though And if she uses the handcuffs, be sure to not have any Credit Cards in your wallet.
  9. Yes, but that's not necessarily bad. BTW, who is the Ticket Express chick? Some local girl, model, what?
  10. Looks like the Camstache is contagious. Martinez is sporting the beginnings of one, from what it looks like.
  11. Apparently the refs are Big 10 officials--found info on Dennis Lipski, none of it flattering--past gambling issues, screwed over Iowa. Here's hoping he doesn't become a factor.
  12. Okay...game is starting, and by the wide shots on Versus, it's looking like Wyoming's stadium is at *least* 50% red, maybe 60%. Your thoughts, folks?
  13. I'm not too terribly picky--I like them all. And I was a little concerned about how they kinda went to seed in those third and fourth sets. But they're a young team, IIRC--I suppose that sort of up and down is to be expected, and a learning experience to put away good teams (like Penn State), when you can. BTW, can I just say how freakin' great it is to watch Nebraska sports down here in Texas thanks to the BTN?
  14. You know, I *could* let folks know where to send their condolences cards, and you can too if you use the State of Texas property search. Of course, I'm not advocating anything illegal--just simply wishing him a simple "go **** yourself, you ******* douchebag" Hallmark card, perhaps with the picture of a cute kitten or an elderly couple on the cover.
  15. So Beebe is changing his position from missionary to reverse cowboy for Texas--why start a thread about it?
  16. Wasn't there also discussion of a one-off in 2014 as well, since both NU and OU have an open date? Or is that wishful thinking?
  17. This. Some folks were talking about 10 years or so, before Pearlman went public. However, since Harvey went public with the inner-workings of the AAU and the accusations of a rigged election (or, at the very least, a protracted one so the AAU could receive the result they wanted), I sincerely doubt we'll be invited back anytime soon. Frankly, though, this isn't a big deal--Notre Dame isn't an AAU member, nor do they have plans to be, yet they're coveted by the Big 10. And the AAU's exclusion of agriculture research in compiling its data really doesn't help the organization long-term--the rate in which our population is growing, the AAU's relevance could be significantly diminished in 10-20 years time. Plus, remember we have the CIC, which is both a purchasing and educational sharing consortium, as well as a research one. We're in good hands with the Big 10, and likely better off long-term for it, both on the field and in the classroom.
  18. This can't be...according to the Washington fans, they were the recipient of bad calls--they certainly never got away with anything in this game.
  19. God, I wish that DoNU would start a hockey team, but Landlord is right--as long as UNO has one, we won't. Sad, really--I think UNL hockey would sell and go over well. Hell, if anything, I'm sure the Big 10 would appreciate the extra inventory after March.
  20. Texas is playing a pretty dangerous zero-sum game. It appears they've learned nothing from this ordeal. I'd say this was shocking, but this is Texas culture.
  21. Oklahoma has no chance of joining the Big 10. People just need to give this up already--Oklahoma isn't an AAU member (or even close), they have very little academic prestige, and save for Ohio State, they have very little in common with Big 10 schools. Missouri to the SEC, as I've said before, puts Kansas at the forefront of Big 10 expansion. Pair them with Notre Dame (I seriously doubt they'd go to the ACC), and you've got a better two-fer expansion than anyone else.
  22. Hmmmm...this makes me think that the rumors of Texas not having a Pac-12 invite because of their precious channel have legs. Otherwise, all this amounts to is posturing on Oklahoma's part for the history books, as I seriously doubt Oklahoma would stay in a Big XII where Texas still gets to wield their channel like a billy club. And frankly, Oklahoma doesn't give two s***s about how history books portray their program--they're trying to whitewash all of Barry Switzer's sins, for Christsake. Oklahoma must know that Texas doesn't have an escape plan (save for going independent) or that the Pac-12 will neuter Bevo TV far beyond what has been mentioned in the press.
  23. This was not very well thought out AT ALL. Missouri makes it better right away. Maybe not the others, but Missouri is better than almost half of the programs in the Big 10. Right now. Kansas basketball alone makes your argument invalid. And if you really want to be picky, Kansas has been to a BCS bowl, whereas Missouri has not. Mind you, I'm not saying Missouri would be bad for the Big 10--just that Missouri is not better than half the programs in the Big 10. the mizzou better than half does seem crazy. the greatest advantage for mizzou is that it's state is big. however, people in kc and stl have pro sports to care about and there might be more kansas fans in kc than mizzou fans. also, mizzou does seem like a natural fit in the sec, but what do i know. Missouri *was* a Southern state in the "War of Northern Aggression", as our southern states like to refer to it as. They've just as much 'southern' culture as they do 'northern'--a political ying and yang, if you will. They'll fit into either or, and I don't think Missouri will care, just so long as they get a home. And since its being reported that the SEC is deciding between W. Virginia and Missouri for the 14th spot, I would think that Missouri will win that hands down. So, in short, Missouri to the Big 10 may be a moot point soon enough. We shall see.
