  1. Gambling is basically an emotional vice for the majority of gamblers. Odds makers pay just as much attention to perceptions as they do stats. Their goal is to get as much money as possible wagered on both sides and collect the juice. If they were confident in their lines, they would not change. As previously mentioned, the sports books(gambling guarantors) do not care what team wins. "Sharps" as they are called, are consistent in that they wager void of any emotion. They pay attention to trends, but are not beholden to them. The guys that set the points look bad if the line moves too much. Most of the line setters are independent contractors and are canned routinely for opening up the House to big losses. The odds makers that set lines that even out the wagers from first publication are basically golden gooses that are very well compensated. This info is gleaned from a golf game. My brother and I were paired up with a former odds maker a couple years ago. He was a trip. It's not often that a complete stranger wants to play a $50 Nassau with me. He had to be a better odds maker than he was a golfer. I bought dinner and drinks that night.
  2. After my time playing this evening, I can report that Fallout 76 is a lot of fun. Most of the concerns about it being an online, multiplayer game are unfounded. It's still Fallout. It was fun to roll with a couple other players, but really easy to go off alone. It you like other Fallout games, you will not be disappointed.
  3. Hard to overstate how big that kick was for the true freshman kicker. Coach not giving up on him. I like it.
  4. It was a vape. Only one puff before the pass means it was a legal substance. Joints require 2 puffs prior to the pass.
  5. So....after the game, I'll be playing Fallout 76. I was chosen for a pre-BETA stress test. I had to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement with Bethesda and Zenimax. It's 4 hours. I'm pretty psyched.
  6. The clock never stopped after the improvised first down.
  7. So, do you reset the board at halftime? I can see 2, maybe 3, things that won't happen within the first 3 possessions of both teams. Also, the "free drink" square is completely unnecessary.
  8. It's a generic insult to males named Micheal. Micheal Riley becomes Michelle Riley. Kind of like the Longhorns get written as Longwhorns, and such.
  9. Sea changes take a while and a lot of effort. Coach Frost will get players that aren't afraid of hard work.
  10. Red River Showdown is the current name for the Shorttusks and Land Thieves game. It was a great game! I was surprised Texas played as well as they did. Herman seems to have changed their soft culture. It took a couple years. Texas is never void of talent. They have changed a lot. The gameday experience has dramatically improved in Austin. They put the students closer to the field and made more tickets available for students. It's always pretty crazy in DFW on TX/OU weekend. This year is no different. I had a hell of time getting a tee time Friday for 2 players. Pretty much every golf course has a TX/OU themed event on the Friday before gameday.
  11. I learned the uniforms will be looking very sharp this year.
  12. Nebraska's record and number of games played wouldn't match.
  13. Well, Frost and the staff have experience with this sort of thing.
  14. Seven days without a pun makes one weak.

  15. I think Gebbia would fit in to the Canadian Football League better than NFL. More space to operate in. His lack of arm strength isn't as big of a liability. He's fast enough to get postive yards on a scramble. This whole situation was great theater. I don't think it will affect the team very much in the long run. Probably good life experience for the players that remain committed to Nebraska's improvement. Sometimes you have to overcome unforseen internal change. They will have similar things happen on future teams or future business relationships. Sometimes people bail for a better opportunity. NBD. NMU. No Big Deal, Next Man Up.
  16. I like the look. It might give Husker players a very slight to miniscule advantage as the opposing players get distracted trying to figure out where the area codes are. Might give a split second longer if the opposing player is from the same area code as his assignment. "Hey, I'm from 817, too! I wonder which high schoo..."(ball snaps, receiver blows by his distracted cornerback, TD ensues.) Yes, I know I'm reaching. I'm just trying to rationalize a way to get to 9 wins.
  17. I read about that. He's a tact-less, brave man. I get what he was saying, but there is a cultural disconnect in the way he communicated the role his wife played. I have a couple of staff bags and they are really heavy, at least he used a smaller bag for this tournament. That is the main purpose of a caddie, after all, carry the clubs so the player saves energy. All this other stuff is basically an agreement between player and caddie. Some players really need their caddies and some players can use anyone that is able to hoof that big bag around for 72 holes(hopefully). All I know is, if I discredited my wife's effort to help me out like that, I would not be expecting any more help from her.
  18. I complimented a bartender on her margarita making accumen and she yelled "QFT!" at me. I thought it was Quality Effing Tequila up until 5 minutes ago....
  19. Yeah, it's Brooks' tournament to lose. Thomas can string birdies together, the other contenders have issues with parts of their game. If Tiger gets one half of a revolution more on #11, the crowd might rattle others. It's just more of a tightrope walk with Tiger right now. He is grinding everything out. Koepka just has to play his game. He is really solid all around, not the best at anything but top 20 in everything. JT can get hot, but he can lose focus and mess up on seemingly routine shots. I just don't see Adam Scott putting well enough as the pressure mounts to be a serious threat. Two putters? Really?
  20. I just don't understand the wager. Either it's about Tiger getting his 15th major or your wagering opponent doesn't pay attention. Tiger has several top 15 finishes in 2018, including the most recent major, The Open Championship. He might get his 15th major today, if he would put his driver on the bottom of the nearest pond. Koepka has displayed a few chinks in his armor. Adam Scott is carrying two putters, effectively eliminating him from contention without him even knowing it. JT just whiffed a 3-footer. Tiger is playing army golf(left, right, left!). It is anyone's tournement at the moment.
  21. I think the the revive mechanics will be a welcome addition. Plus, anyone can revive you, but the medic will be the only one that can fully heal you. In general, it seems DICE is trying to minimize the whole running around like headless chickens.
