  1. That, sir, is a good point. Well, I seem to recall a situation last year with Zac Lee and the training staff that did not make them look good. Isn't that why he was in the "doghouse" to begin with? He had surgery that the staff did not think he needed? I wouldn't ask Big Willie about the training staffs competency. That is if you're looking for a positive review anyway.
  2. Cy..dude..I understood your posts. I know you're not a troll and genuinely miss your predictions this year. I remember you posting something about personal stuff and hope things are going well for you. You know how some fans get. A little worked up would be an understatement. I hope you stick around in the following years. Thinking about it now, I guess ISU or Kansas will be my favorite BigTex conference team. That was a heartbreaking loss for ISU and a cardiac inducing win for NU. I really enjoyed the game, I like cardiac moments. It was what college football is all about. Playing hard, letting it all hang out. The player trying to take Burkhead's head off not withstanding, it was a dramatic well played game. That ISU coach is fun to watch. Rhoads seems like he really gets into what he's doing and goes ballz out for his players. You think those boys would run through a few walls for him? Hellz yes they would. Gotta love it! Glad we survived. Good luck in the future. Kick the snot outta Texass for us, would ya? We couldn't seem to get that particular job done.
  3. Jeff Dunham. Google him. I am not technically savvy enough to post an image.
  4. Saban and Mack Brown have something in common. Internet is to blame for all woes.
  5. Yes. Texass will have a losing record. OSU will stomp them. Florida Atlantic is a toss up for the shorttusks. aTm is highly motivated to beat them since they think UT's political clout in the state legislature sabatoged their delusional expectation to join SEC. They will be staying home this holiday season, while their fans waste their money on planes flying banners around the city. Minor Orangeblack will take some clapping lessons in the offseason and become more efficient at moving his headset microphone up and down, while maintaining a positive scowl with his hands on his knees, thus qualifying him for Offensive Coordinator.
  6. I guess my point is that we can't be one dimensional. The 90s are over and I don't see any team dominating that way ever again. We can't point to where we are going to run and count on blowing everyone off the line. The 3rd and 2 play was there, Cody did not make a good throw, I think that's one where he bounced it to Kyler, I could be wrong, it certainly isn't the first time and won't be the last. I'm just of the opinion that he is a good coach at taking what is being given. Alabama is a good power running team, but how effective would Ingram and Richardson be if McElroy could not throw at all and every team loaded up the box with 9 players? Also, if one thinks that Bo has zero input on the playcalling, well, I would bet on that person not knowing of what they speak. Jeez, he's down to the 3rd string QB on a very windy day and busts out the wildcob to maximize the tools at his disposal. I'm glad it was saved until needed. Hard to gameplan for something you haven't seen. I think he takes too much heat for an offense that is relatively successful. I keep hearing about 2009 as a reason why he sucks, yet I can't use 2008 to illustrate he's not as bad as many think. ESPN has the whole game, play by play, down and distance by quarter, in text. We had five 3rd down plays in the 3rd quarter. 4 out of 5 were passes that resulted in 1st downs. Two 3rd and 6s, one 3rd and 3, one 3rd and five where Rex ran for 1yd, and a 3rd and 12 where Cody hit Kyler Reed for 29yds. To say that ISU was not stopping the run is simply not true. Now, they weren't stuffing every run, but we wern't running up and down the field either. I would like to have seen Rex toss one from the wildcob, just one, because there was a big play to be had there. He is(was)an adequate passer. He played QB for Plano. Hard to throw with gloves, and if he took them off for one play, it would've been a tipoff that something was up. ISU started to creep up when the wildcob was called. A big play was there for the taking.
  7. I think team speed is a neutralizer...in a bowl game. Yes, the speedy SEC does well in Championship games vs. Big 10(tOSU). That's just one game with a lot of preparation. Week in and week out, size will be a factor. Now, if we can maintain some quality speedy depth, that could neutralize getting pounded on week in and week out. The lines will have to be deep and coached well in regards to leverage. You can use one's mass against them if proper leverage and technique are used. Depth will be critical to run the gauntlet that is the 2011 schedule.
  8. Jerry doesn't want spinefilled coaches. Unless he's trying to get some money from a suburb for his Deathstar.
  9. Hawkins needs to be coaching intramurals...brotha. I hope they don't fire him until after the season, we could use the win that his coaching will ensure.
  10. aTm upgraded at QB, but he's more of a passer, good for us. Christine Michael is out for the season, so the running threat should be diminished. Kyle Field is worth at least 3points for aTm. We should be able to move the ball on them, though. I think OU is overrated on offense so their loss to aTm did not surprise me. If we can put together a balanced attack, we should be fine. I hope Taylor is OK by then. If he's a go, then we should have little problem.
  11. Possibly to aTm. That Tannyhill dude seems to have given them some confidence. However, he is more of a passer and we all know what happens when teams try to pass against us. Christine Michael is out for the season, so the running threat is greatly diminished. I think we win out regular season and get royally screwed by refs in CCG.
  12. Really? He coached a hell of a game last week, but can't coach this week. Even though he's only got the 3rd string QB and there's a 30 MPH wind out there. I agree that Watson is a good coach. Everyone is quick to harp on him when the offense has a tough day because he is a Callahan holdover. The reason he is a Callahan holdover is because the offense was not Callahan's problem, it was the defense so T.O. brought in a defensive coach and told him to keep what was working(Watson and the offense) and fix the defense. I challenge any coach in the country to take their 3rd string qb against any team they may play and not be handcuffed and have a vanilla looking offense. Heh...the ultimate SW apologist post with all the essential responses. Sweet. 1. Everyone downs him only because he's a Callahan man. Forget this year's SDSU, Iowa St & Texas games. Forget qtrs 2,3 & 4 vs Missou. Forget all of last year. Check. 2. Callahan's offense was great as it was only the defense that sunk Callahan. Forget how the WCO was stuffed like sardines vs every decent defense it faced as it could run wild on the creampuffs and get great yds & pts at garbage time vs the opponent's water boys. Gotta love those stats! Check. 3. No other coach could do better with our 3rd string qb & offense because.....well, because. Check. SW & Callahan were great....Check. Forget that we are still 8-1...check!!!! Froget that we are the 20th ranked team in yds/game....check Forget that we are the 13th ranked team in pts/game....check I am not saying we are the best offense in the country, the stats speak for themselves. We were poor last year in offense also not debating that but in the end all that matters is this year and the record.(8-1) We should've won the Texas game and it was not poor playcalling it was a combination of turnovers and other mistakes that cost us that one. A couple of close games that should not have been close is not a reason to call for a guy's head. In the end we won and I would be interested to see what you would be saying if we had beat Texas and were undefeated. You would be singing praises to the whole staff, including Watson. No he wouldn't. Some people have, what I believe anyway, an irrational hate for Watson. You can use stats and logic all you want, it will do no good. In some peoples mind Watson just sucks. They will use 2009 as an example, disregarding injuries to the O-Line and QB, true freshman backup QB etc. and when you mention 2008, well, that WHOLE YEAR was a fluke. Watson dropped all those passes to open receivers against Texass. 3rd string QB, no excuse. 25mph wind..no excuse. 12 out 64 plays are passes = throwing it all over the place. I just laugh now. Perhaps a resume or 2 should be submitted to Bo for OC, because some OBVIOUSLY could do much better. Good point. 25 mph wind, 3rd string qb, Clones can't stop our running game, 3rd & two.....throw the ball. But hey, that's just my irrational hatred. 14 3rd down plays. 6 runs, 3 first downs. 8 passes, 4 first downs. 50/50 either way. 4th quarter: First series after Nile's fumble to tie the game. Helu 7yds, Helu -2yds, Green No gain. They didn't stuff the run there did they. Second series: Helu 3yds, Helu 5yds, incomplete pass. Punt. After getting stuffed the last series, maybe try something different, oh wait, we were unstoppable running. Right. My bad. Third series:Burkhead 5yds to NU 42, Helu 2yds to the 44, Timeout 2:16 left in the game. Burkhead 5yds, first down, ball on NU 49. Burkhead LOSS of 1 yd(impossible, could not happen), Green run 6yds, timeout, 51 seconds left in the game. Cody Green incomplete pass then punt. ISU kneels down. OT. 3rd down efficency: 7 of 14 for 50% Passing 7 of 12 for 79 yds. 6.6 yds per pass. 52 rushes for 235yds. 4.5yds per rush. The wildcob did work at times and got stuffed at times. We are not good enough up front to just telegraph our intentions and be successful. Haters gonna hate.

  14. We need OU to win until CCG. We need to win until CCG and beyond. Beating a 1 loss OU, late in the season would be the most beneficial. Beating OSU twice helps not.
  15. I enjoy Huskerboard very much. A good mix of characters, insiders, intelligent mods and generally just a great place to follow my Huskers. I used to go to the espn board until one of the few nonnumbskulls posted a link to here. I check it out there every once in a while just to post a link to here. I had an issue a while ago, but got over it quickly. The rules are enforced consistantly and fairly. Perhaps mods could organize a seminar for BigTex officials on how to do this.
  16. Rex fielded a punt at the 5, with the wind in his face and returned it 2 yds. It would have been a touchback. It really limited already reduced options as far as plays that could be run. Can't flip the field from the 7 with the wind in your face. Other than that, Rex had no mistakes. I thought Cody played OK. Not great, but not awful. His legs are too long to get a quick burst. I thought, with the exception of his first throw, he passed well. The coaches seemed to turtle. He seemed to do what was asked of him. Not to try and win it alone and he didn't eff up.
  17. The Big 12 has 2 choices here. Either the officials are completely incompetent or they are looking to help NUs opposition. There was as much evidence that Roy was down as there was Arnaud crossed the goalline. Which is to say none in either case. How does one miss a player yanking on another player's helmet...for 10 seconds after the play is over? Talk about your intent to injure. We will have to play through these things, though. Let this be a warning to other teams that might want to join the BigTex in the future, you will not get a fair shake, as it relates to officiating. Mangino was right on the money a few years ago.
  18. She can't possibly make less sense than Mark May or Lee Corso. I haven't seen her new role, but...well ..she looks good doing whatever it is she's doing, which is all that really matters these days, apparantly.
  19. Here we go again...I win. I will forgo this hollow victory for a real one this saturday vs. ..Iowa State? Should I have to do this for an Iowa State game? Not taking any chances.
  20. There is a common perception, at least around here in DFW, that he changes his vocal accents depending on the region he is announcing in. When he announces Texas games, for example, he's just a good ole boy hanging out in the booth. Lots of uuhh...twang. When he is doing a Michigan game, not so much. Listening to him mention Colt McCoy was most irritating. I think he's just a doofus. Even my mom doesn't like him, hasn't since I can remember. "Oh No! Not that Schnekelberger...Finkelberger"....any number of derogatory+bergers being bandied about. She was on it long before any others that I remember.
  21. I've been there a few times for a Playing Ability Test for the PGA, Pebble Creek was the course, pretty nice. I stayed in a hotel, pretty nondescript. The only thing that struck me was the keycard to get into the room. No arrow on the card, it just said "This side up". OK, not a problem, except it was College Station. I put the card into the lock with the "This side up" ..well..up. It didn't work. I go to the office and the lady says I was supposed to hold the card in my hand with "This side up" up and insert card into the lock "This side up" down. I laughed and chalked it up to Aggieland ways. Rudy's BBQ is good, despite what their sign says..."Worst BBQ in Texas." I'm planning on heading down there for this one, we'll see. I have no worries about treatment, it will be fine. They respect NU in an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" sort of way. They have several traditions that I find odd, but it's Aggieland, so..it's supposed to look odd to outsiders. One word of caution would be to not mock Reveille the dog.
  22. Bye guys, wife's gotta surf so I won't have to hear any bizness. GO BIG RED! SIT DOWN GABBERT!!!!!!!! PUNK!!!!!!!
  23. Let's GO DEFENSE! Sit that PUNK GABBERT DOWN!!!! D-Line looking a little gassed. This is a test of depth.
