  1. Of course, there is already someone on there who has said I wonder if it is even worth my time (aside from gaining the knowledge myself) to post this stuff on there. Stats never tell the whole story but they can give you a generally good indicator of a team's overall performance in certain areas.
  2. I've already used that to compile the following: AND
  3. Hahaha. Almost simultaneously as I put up this thread there was a poster on the AZ site that listed the following stats: 1991-25.92 ppg allowed 1992-9.83 ppg allowed 1993-13.42 ppg allowed 1994-15.83 ppg allowed 1995-18.09 ppg allowed 1996-25.45 ppg allowed 1997-26.00 ppg allowed 1998-18.15 ppg allowed ____________________ total average-19.76 ppg allowed
  4. They think because they had Tedy Bruschi they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Me? I wasn't even cognizant of anything aside from Nebraska at that point, so I don't remember. I just wanted to see if there was anything to back that up stat-wise. Although if it turns out the defense of theirs wasn't that great then comparatively I suppose I shouldn't bother taking it to them. I showed the stats from the USC defenses listed above and their retorts were "USC's OOC was better" (viable comment) and "the offenses USC faced were better" (I haven't delved that far into it).
  5. Does anyone know of a site that lists defensive stats beyond 2001? I'm trying to get a feel for previous Husker defenses, of course, but also previous Arizona Wildcat defenses. Seems everyone on goazcats.com notes the Arizona defenses from 1992-1998 as the greatest defenses in the history of the sport. They also noted in one of their threads the USC defenses of '06 and '07 were world-beaters and Nebraska this year is a run-of-the-mill one, which doesn't seem to be the case when you look at statistics.
  6. I am in the midst of watching the Arizona/USC game right now and I must say, their offense can move the ball BUT our defense is much more disciplined and fundamentally sound than USC's. Knowing that I am getting a little more excited for this game.
  7. The officiating in that game last night left something to be desired, that's for sure.
  8. I don't know. This year has just reaffirmed it for me, I've always been a defensive guy and I get excited watching them continually shut down teams. I think I watched the KU and OU games at least 4 times on 360, plus the B12CG 3x. And that's knowing full-well that our offense is abysmal. Like cscott said...just try it. I would be willing to bet you don't make it past pregame.
  9. Nope. Jeez Mr. Knowitall Sometimes I think there should be a knowledge test to be able to post here... Edit: first game: 1994 vs Wyoming. I was 12 and went with my dad. IIRC the game was closer than it should have been in my estimation and I knew nothing about football. I just remember being so nervous that we were going to lose. I was also disappointed that Calvin Jones wasn't the running back anymore because, at that time, he was my favorite player.
  10. I don't know. I like the idea of Bowl Games because of tradition. It just seems right to be able to sit down and watch a college football game every night during the end of December/beginning of January. It's ridiculous they've stretched the games out, though, until about the middle of January. I think, as it stands, the playoff deal is bad because the conferences are not on par with each other. It would be pretty simple to require each conference to have a championship and also include a few at-large bids to a tournament. But that is neither here nor there. The real point is that Notre Dame uses its "clout" to pull out BS like the 1/66th deal. Absolutely ridiculous.
  11. Berry is better than Mays. Mays is bad at taking the correct angle to the receiver. He's been able to get around it because he's more physically talented than a lot of people at this level.
  12. I know there are many different reasons to hate ND. I personally have hated ND for as long as I can remember. But even a self professed Domer hater like myself has never heard about this BS! So along with ND's sweetheart BCS deals, ND is also profiting off of the BSC games they aren't even in? Why should ND be allowed to hoard their pot of FB gold, and expect to also make money off of a system they refuse to fully support by not playing in a conference? I think ND needs to start playing by the same rules as the other 100+ D1 schools if they want to claim they deserve a larger chunk of the BCS pie due to their superior "history and tradition". Sorry but dominating the service academies, going .500 against the BIG11 and an annual loss to USC can no longer be considered worthy of admiration. And it sure as hell isn't worth 4 million dollars a year either! I read that as being $4 million / 3 years = $1.3 million per year. The point is the same, though. ND sux.
  13. Me, too. I think the majority of the fanbase holds the Huskers to higher expectations. I know Bo does.
  14. Gomes is more of a gamer than Amukamara. I've never figured out why he isn't returning punts, the guy is a highlight reel with the ball in his hands.
  15. Really off base with your perceptions here, IMO. A baby walking doesn't have a W or L on their shoulders. Agreed. That is a horrible analogy.
  16. I saw on there a few times at least that they reference the 98 game where they beat us. Within the same thread they bring up, though, the fact our past has no bearing on our future performance.
  17. I kept looking for the :analsex: smiley but just remembered that's a different messageboard.
  18. Amen. What a jerk. He was a great runner, and pure joy to watch on the field, but you can't look at any of his highlights anymore without revulsion. As great as he was on the field, everything afterward makes you want to forget he ever existed. I watch his highlights before about 80% of the games. It helps to think of him in a vaccum of only the size of the football field. Oh, and walking through the tunnel in one of those highlight videos like he was a man coming down to take all those boys to the woodshed. Seeing still gives me chills.
  19. Suh can hurt them in more ways than one. As I recall, CU tried the same thing (quick passing) in the 08 game, and Suh just started backing off into the the quick slant passing lanes, either batting the ball down or just outright intercepting it. Also, Dennard and O'Hanlon will be licking their chops jumping those routes all night long. O'Hanlon doesn't really jump routes that well, he just sits back and waits for QBs who've been hit by our DLine all game long to throw him the ball outright. Dennard is a stud...but you're missing THE Dejon Gomes.
  20. I respect your opinion. I, however, have never nor will I ever cheer for Texass.
  21. Texass' O-line play was a direct result of our ridiculous D-line play.
  22. O.K., I'll bite. So, since you know, what was going on with him. Don't just say you know and not tell. If you are not his doctor, or a secretary or personnel in the office of his doctor, his insurance guy, or his aquarium cleaner, then you cannot get in trouble for telling, so please do. You'd be surprised how lenient they are with those aquarium cleaners.
