  1. You mean like in '05 when we led the nation in sacks? pwn3d And that defense has really done a lot since then, hasn't it?
  2. After watching the video of the linemen eating double-burritos at Chipotle's it's easy see how they were all slow. Personally, I never really liked the previous regime's way of basically using 3 DT's and 1 speed guy, then wondering why they couldn't get to the QB. Remember the 90's when we had speed guys on both sides? Potter should be a DT. Put someone on the outside that can run the 40 under 5 seconds.
  3. I like the idea of pounding the ohter team...but I remember the Crouch/Lord years. When they got down by 2 touchdowns, everybody and their sister knew they couldn't throw the ball effectively to come back. I want to see a solid running game, but they need to be able to pass if they need to.
  4. It's nice to see Ron Brown there. The guy is pure class. Pelini showed more fire in that 2 minutes than the previous regime did in 4 years total.
  5. Short, Sweet, and too the point! I don't see an issue with taking interest in the families of the players. Everybody loves to talk about the support that Jaba Chamberlain got from his dad. It's a good story. What's wrong with asking about Marlon's family? Perhaps it's a really cool story about how a family member took him in and helped him in life.
  6. As a Bears fan, I'd like to see him in Chicago next year.
  7. how old is he? 16? dang, he looks young. and isn't he the guy that runs Focus on the Family in Colorado? I thought he was older than that.
  8. this gets move and a thread about the all-white jerseys on the basketball team is still there? huh?
  9. What int he world makes you say that? They DID get the 2nd overall pick in '04 as a QUARTERBACK to study under possibly the greatest the game has ever seen, and the team is still young... Rodgers is no more the answer in green bay than craig nall. I was happy, though, to see the team that is known for playing on the "frozen tundra" whining that it was too cold in Chicago when they completed the sweep.
  10. Honestly, I'm glad to see him in the pros, it's a shame he plays for such a horrible team. when and if fav-ruh ever retires they're done for the next 10 years.
  11. who needs special teams? we won't need to punt...and Bo's defense will be mean enough that the QB will just snap the ball and hand it to the DT on 4th down. As for kickoffs? Bo's reputation will cause the kicker to kick it straight out of bounds, and the return man will likely refuse to catch the ball for the other team.
  12. Short answer--no. At least not as well as LSU ran it. But I think the D will be vastly improved over this season...and will be decent, but is not going to be a dominant force yet. It will take a year or two. They run the Tampa 2. It's based on the front 4's ability to put pressure on the QB, while the rest of the defense sits back and covers. There are some occasional blitzes off of it, but the bread and butter of it is zone coverage. I'm a Bears fan. Last year they had a smothering defense--because their front 4 just flat out got after the QB. This year, their top 3 DTs were hurt, and that just killed 'em. I expect Bo to come in and play a lot of zone, but throw in an occasional blitz. And I expect him to teach an attacking type of line play. Instead of taking a step back, putting their hands on the O lineman, they're going to try to shoot the gap, then read it--and hopefully get the back a yard deep in the backfield.
  13. Hmm....I think Young is actually doing pretty well. I wouldn't say that Tennessee has had to "dumb it down" as much as they've just had to change it. I've often thought that a pro team could have an Eric Crouch and Michael Bishop combined for what they'd pay a traditional drop-back passer. I'd love to see an NFL team use an option attack. I don't buy the argument that the pros are too fast. TO showed that you can still run it against a speedy defense.
  14. Colt McCoy and JD Booty come to mind as young guys that can have pretty good first years. Fact of the matter is, the defense is what let down this team this year. The offense was good MOST of the time. But even great defenses have bad games, or bad stretches. It makes you wonder what would have happened if they'd have been able to count on their defense to make a stand occasionally.
  15. I just found it interesting the article that ripped Nebraska for not hiring Jim Grobe because he wanted to pick his own assistants. Personally, I think Pelini is an excellent hire, and look forward to seeing him turn the program around in the next 2-3 years.
  16. Purify is now also on the Hula Bowl Roster. Strange that Purify is on the West roster and McKeon is on the East roster. I'd love to see what happens if mckeon tries to tackle Purify going across the middle. Something tells me mckeon isn't going to have a chance.
  17. Did he? Or did Bo choose them all himself? If Bo didn't get to pick his own, that's somewhat troubling.
  18. From this tool's perspective, NU Pelini because spent one season here. Nevermind the fact that he's a great coach.
  19. Anyone who thinks Skippy is a good hire doesn't know right from left. The guy has issues wherever he coaches (see Colorado and Washington).
  20. Has it occurred to anyone that maybe he's changed his offensive philosophies, or learned anything at all in the last 6-7 years?
  21. That is a lot of fun. Just imagine the excitement if there was an actual playoff every year. Wow. It would be much, much better than the stupid bowl system we've got now. Just imagine having 8 or 16 teams EVERY year come post season that actually had a chance of winning it all if they get hot. That beats the hell out of some fat cat bowl committee telling us who we get to watch to win it.
  22. i guess I don't much care about uniforms. except the all-black look that colorado or the baltimore ravens use. to me, that's ugly.
  23. One would think that if anybody is going to be on the same page defensively with Bo that it would be Carl. I will trust Bo on this one. But I wouldn't have minded seeing Marvin at DC.
  24. Maybe if he said "everybody and their dog" I would be happier. Dogs can run circles around defensive players. i'd be willing to guess that a few of their mothers could run circles around the current defensive players.
  25. I just don't understand how Div II and all the others...even high schools can do a playoff and Div 1 can't figure out how to make it work. I don't buy the idea of dragging out the season being bad, because that's what the bowl games do now. With several bowl games after Jan 1, we are seeing numerous teams affected. At least with a playoff, half the teams drop out the first week. Only those teams that win keep going. In basketball, we have 64 teams entering the tourney. And people are whining about 16? Just get a committee together to pick the teams. So people would whine because someone was #17 and didn't get in. So? That happens now with people whining because their RPI wasn't high enough to get into the big dance.
