  1. Not to mention, at least in my opinion, that the team belongs to the students more than it belongs to anyone else. No students = no university = no football team. The team belongs to the university. There are students at the university who are fans of that team, and students who are not. And if there are no students to attend said university, there would be no university. Therefore, without the students, you don't have a football team. This argument can be made that the students don't matter, but it isn't logical. You can have a football team without the generic fan. You need a school for them to attend, making them student athletes. They could play a game in front of nobody if they had to. There are schools do (figuratively) that. However, you would not have a product to watch on the field without students. Therefore, the students are most important and it would, more than anything else, belong to them. Now, obviously others matter, but if you were to move the students closer, you would get faster sell outs and better attendance.
  2. The off-season makeover is no different than any we've seen over the past couple of seasons. Any PR guy can make you look good when you are carrying out his choreographed actions. When the heat of the moment comes, that's when we'll see it.
  3. Wisconsin won by 39 in 2012. Wisconsin won by 31 in 2011. Missouri won by 35 in 2008. Oklahoma won by 34 in 2008. Those are the 30+ point losses under Pelini. is there really a big difference, outside of the gambling world, in a 39 and 40 point loss? Especially to an unranked team? Nitpicking on tiny details is the worst. A 20 point loss is bad enough.
  4. I was there, stayed, and was bothered by it. When the head of your entire state decides to go on a rant like that, given his past (and then future) issues, there is something there. The dude has a problem.
  5. http://www.cornnation.com/2014/6/4/5779734/nebraska-athletic-department-loses-paul-meyers-and-michael-stephens Take it FWIW but Stephens is taking a decent step up - albeit to a smaller school - so that would probably be considered a promotion. Not sure if the two are related. That one is unrelated... Step up for sure. That said a lot of unsettling things going on up there.
  6. You're used to playing a game that could potentially vault you to a 1 seed? I get the point, but this one is bigger than normal for you too.
  7. Rivals rankings.... Ameer - ATH 3* #17 (5.7) Rex - RB 4* #9 (5.8) David - LB 4* (5.9) Gregory - DE 4* (5.8) Martinez - ATH 3* #51 (5.7) Dennard - CB #25 3* (5.7) Long - NR 3 4* and 3 3*.. All 3* were 5.7, so high end 3* players. Not exactly finding "diamonds in the rough" per se.
  8. First off, I have gone through 2 threads on this board. I read and see plenty of other things elsewhere. Second, my feelings aren't hurt at all and I'm not complaining at anyone. I said unfortunately some people are still drinking the kool aid. That's my opinion. The beauty of this world? I can have that. But great use of language on a family board, Mr. Mod.
  9. How terrible that Husker fans are still cheering for their team. How terrible that the "best fans in the nation" have no problem throwing F bombs at fans that critically analyze a game.
  10. Unfortunately I see the Kool Aid flowing a few places still because "a win is a win"
  11. Barring injury, no way. Unfortunately. I'm not so sure about that. He has long been on the record of saying playing for the Huskers was his dream. Certainly big $ can influence that, but I don't think it's out of the question at all. Majority of kids say playing for (team they are committed to) is their dream. Wanting to go to college, live that life, etc. If they come out saying "I wanna go straight to pro ball" they lose bargaining power.
  12. Baylor shirt on in twitter avi.. Not that that means anything for certain... But wouldn't think a commit would have that.
  13. Nothing says I am a worse fan than posts similar in nature to yours. I understand your point.. But what is wrong with being skeptical? How does that make you any less of a fan? Just because someone is skeptical doesn't mean that they are going to cheer any less for the team or follow them any less. Just because Frida wants to see results before they spend money to travel from Cali to Indy doesn't mean they will stop cheering for Nebraska if there isn't that....
  14. Brad Stevens to the Celtics???

  18. The comment wasn't meant at a shot at you at all, rather, that's the most common excuse that people use for the fall off. I disagree with you on the talent aspect thus far. Either Callahan brought in talent on the defensive side (or was moved there) that has far exceeded what Pelini has. The numbers would seem to point to that. The offensive side of the ball I wouldn't disagree with at all. I think our 09 D would have been fairly successful in the Big Ten, at least more successful than the 12 one was. Maybe not as effective as it was, but that's not really here nor there. I was just looking for insight on the downward trend in stats. If you think the talent we had on D would have been successful in the Big 12, then so be it, that's where they were recruited to play. I guess we'll wait and see what happens now.
  19. I really don't get why so many people think Callahan is a terrible OC. He did wonders for our offense here and was successful as an OC under Gruden in Oakland. He may have been a flop as a head coach in his two stints, but what part of his resume as an OC lacks? I guess I'm missing that part. I understand the hatred that many Husker fans have towards him because of what he did to our beloved program, but for those that have moved on, what else is there to hate?
  20. This seems to point to a downward trend... EZ asked for an example, this looks like it to me.. I actually have enjoyed reading through the factual things in this post... Looking forward to EZs rebuttal. And I hope it's something different than Callahan brought in talent but couldn't coach it.. and Bo hasn't had that talent yet.. Because we're still waiting on that talent...
  21. He still possesses the power and the speed. While he hasn't been seeing the ball that great, he may just be making the adjustment still. It may take him a year or two longer than expected to make it to the big boy club, but his potential in the game is just too much to give up on only 3 years in, i think. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get it figured out.
  22. It honestly doesnt help that he is white. I know it sounds dumb but lets be honest how many white rb's play in the nfl let alone get drafted? I'm not saying that nfl teams wont draft him due to his skin color, but generally speaking black rb's are more athletic and better than white rb's. is that always the case? certainly not, but it is alot of the time, which causes white rb's to get passed by. Okay, if your answer is "no, skin color has nothing to do with it" then just say "no". Because from what you just said I'm not sure if you're relating athleticism and skin color. I think it's more about genetic makeup than anything. And odd's are higher for black guys to have more natural athletic ability. It's not racism, it's genetics. Sociology of Sport would argue vehemently against you.
  23. On top of the team title, Nebraska's Kristi Mickelson also won the singles championship as part of the ITC/ISC that was held here in Lincoln again this year. She won the title match 289-233 over Tannya Roumimper of Wichita State. http://www.bowl.com/news/newsdetails.aspx?id=12884907569
