  1. Ya the lack of a rush obviously hurt, half of pass-D is a good rush. Crappy schemes and db-coaching also hurt. I still can't believe we fired Sanders to bring Elmo in, what a travesty. There was plenty of talent and experience there. Coaches wasted it. We were way too passive. How many times did we hand the quick-slant to teams on third and medium? That is just absurd, granted LB's play a significant part there too. Don't even get me started on the unnecessary interference and how we had guys in position to make tackles rather than stop receptions from occurring. Our coaches considered picks to be little more than happy accidents. They also come from db's being aggressive and in-position to make plays. Look at '03, we executed that zone like a muther, if a qb kept trying to thread the needle against it he was getting picked. I'm not expecting miracles this year considering how much catching-up there is to do and how many guys we lost. But we'll be in-shape, aggressive, gang-tackling, motivated, and more fundamentally-sound. That should get us quite a ways.
  2. Rollinson, Forcier, Nunes, Massokowski, Green, and Scheelhaase are all studs I'd be very happy to get. It would be a big step in the right direction for the staff to close on one of these guys.
  3. It was the coaches. They recruited the talent, coached the Talent they brought in and couldn't motivate that talent. pu&&y practices breed pussies and that is how the defense played. I would bet that our team plays with a whole different attitude next year. Does that mean more victories, NO but it means a better shot at more victories and that is all we can ask for is effort and desire from the starters to the towel boys. This should definitely be a more aggressive, gang-tackling, fundamentally-sound, and motivated team. How that will result in terms of wins only time will tell. My prediction has been 8-4 for some time, which is what I think we would've had in '07 with an actual D and Ganz getting his shot earlier when the O hit a slump.
  4. With offers rolling-in from Florida and Wiscy as-well maybe he holds-back and rides the search out more. With option opening-up left and right I'd wait to see who-all offers and make some trips.
  5. Robinson got a 3* 5.7 from rivals(5.8 is a 4*), so he is getting significant love. But I doubt Oku would look elsewhere unless we had major bluechip signed-on. Like others have said Tray could end-up at safety or LB anyway.
  6. I can see good and bad in it. It would nice for kids and schools to be able to end the struggle over the recruit. But then you'd also see kids getting majorly pressured to sign-on and some kids regretting the early decision.
  7. Well he obviously isn't an every-down player. But he doesn't have to be. If he can be a return-man and make the occasional play as a scatback/wr then he is worth a schollie. He'd be kinda like our Jeremy Bloom. Hope his MRI doesn't show the damage originally thought, though it likely will. If Millard South makes the playoffs he might get to play then. Kid was contending hard for a schollie. Now, I'd say he is more likely to end-up at a Ohio or Wyoming. I'd still take an offer to him over Marlowe. Both would be used in similar roles but I'd say Kildow has the quicks to still clown guys when he gets to the next level. Kildow is a runt but his other measurables are sick. Marlowe I'm not sure about. Seems like he got a lot of benefit of the doubt because it was very late in the game and there were personal-ties. But a Kildow-offer would worry me a bit since we have already offered another small, quick role-player in Jelani Alford. Alford is more of a rb, while Kildow more of a receiver but their projected roles would still overlap in terms of the return-man/scatback role. Could be a little redundant if we ended-up with both. But maybe we could find enough use for both.
  8. Scouts has him as a center-prospect, rivals a DT. I think DT is more likely but it could depend on how recruiting shakes-out. If we get a couple more DT-recruits and Fontana goes to Ark I can see Pensick as our future-center.
  9. At. 5.7 he's not actually far from 4* status, one of the highest 3* guys. Sometimes the offer-lists don't match the *'s. We are into a 4* Dijon Washington that has a meh offer-list while Burkhead is a 3* with a who's who of top programs after him.
  10. You mean people usually get into Ivy League schools because they were top students in high school? Wow, that's mind-blowing. Signed, Dubya
  11. We have offered a relatively unknown qb named Martinez, but as an athlete. As far as I can tell we have been quite selective in our qb-offers. To my knowledge there is only one uncommitted 3* qb that we've offered and that is Clayton Moore, and he has several nice BCS-offers on the table The rest are 4* guys with national-powers after them. Maybe we'll fill-up on lesser-knowns on a couple other positions but unless things change it won't be qb.
  12. off-topic, but i don't see turner leaving buffalo any time soon. they've been treating him well and i don't think he'll abandon a program that still a work in progress. Abandoning a work in progress? If they have a winning-season I wouldn't say they are so-much a work in progress anymore or that Gill owes them after taking them from being the worst program in 1A to winners. It would be a nice gesture to stay but abandoning? Come on. Nobody said Kelly, Pinkel, or Meyer abandoned their programs when they moved-on. If he wants to stay at Buffalo fine, there are definitely worse things to be than king of the MAC. But if he wants to coach at the next level I don't think he should wait around unless it is for a BCS-program he knows he can win big with.
  13. According to rivals he really dug his visit and we are in strong contention, top three. The big key is whether Mich offers, they still have inside-track.
  14. So Dijon puts a lot of mustard on his hits? Sorry, my OCD demanded I post that.
  15. He'll learn with experience, seems like a guy with good upside.
  16. I like how we are staying in the hunt for some top qb's and rb's. Hopefully we can close a couple deals.
  17. Only one qb can play, other guy rides-pine. Maybe the other guy is just kicking-ass, maybe he learns the system a little quicker or wins little more than a coin-flip and gets an early edge for playing-time and doesn't screw-up for you to get a shot, maybe you fall-behind due to injury. A very good qb can end-up holding a clipboard for his career fairly easily. When it comes to other positions I could see your argument more. At qb I'd say watching your step is pretty reasonable.
  18. The Nebraska Cornusker Football Show is just too freaking long. If Bo doesn't want his name on it then just call it the The Husker Football Show. I still miss the old PBS-show the had every play on it. That was the best.
  19. They will wait and see how the season goes, which is nothing out of the ordinary. Plus there is still FSN and Versus. Versus actually gets some pretty respectable games. As long as we play respectably I'd say we'll be on tv for at-least the following: WMU, VT, Mizzou, Tech, KU, OU, and CU. Plus there is the possibility for other games being picked-up on regular cable or PPV as-well. Also, WE DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO JIM ROSE ANYMORE. Radio games won't be so much torture.
  20. Ark and Arizona have jumped into the mix. I'd imagine some others will come sniffing-around too. Hopefully Tech and ATM keep-up the slow-play and piss him off. He seems to like Bo, hopefully we can haul him in.
  21. Urban's O tends to emphasize the qb rather than the rb's. Granted until this coming season he didn't have a big-time rb to work with and things will change some. But that general trend is still there. Plus Florida already has a nice rb-committed and is in on some others. If you end-up sharing carries in a system like that you aren't likely to see the rock a lot. At-least we seem to be in the race for him. Getting him in for a visit would be a big step in the right direction.
  22. If Robinson ends-up staying at rb(can see him moving to safety or LB) taking a situational-back like this seems like a stretch, especially when you consider we've given a fullback a schollie. We'd still be looking for another back which would leave us at four for the class, seems like a lot. If Robinson moves then maybe taking a scatback isn't a bad idea.
  23. I'd imagine Green and Scheellaase would probably be an either/or proposition. I doubt we'd get both. But I'd certainly be happy with either even if it is a one-qb class.
  24. Texas almost has their class full, I wouldn't expect to see anything in the way of offers coming from them. With Tiller in his last year at Purdue and that soft-team not having done anything in several years anyway I can't see being that excited about them.
  25. Seems like Bo's kinda guy, hardcore. When Beck came on-board we were supposed to be upping our clout in Texas. While we have a couple commits out of Texas already anybody could have gotten those guys 'N, now I'd like to see us start showing that clout and hauling in a player or two there is real competition for. This one will be tough though, several big-dogs are into him.
