  1. Exactly. What a waste. My brother-in-law is a big Vol fan. He wOuld welcome Kiffin back at this point.........Frost coming home is going to make Moos and everyone involved look like the best administration with a vacancy this year.
  2. Tennessee shifting focus to Chad Morris now. Unbelievable how they have handled it, amazing how public it has been as well.
  3. Thanks. Yeah, hard to keep up. I do agree wth some that the silence is a great sign. With Florida, Tennessee, UCLA, and Miss St. things have been leaked from meetings, to offers, etc. no word here makes me think we have locked it up and are waiting for Sunday.
  4. I somehow must have missed it, what is the reference to the one Florida message board poster? What were they saying?
  5. I have never seen a coaching carousel quite like this one. So many moving parts that could impact a wide variety of fan bases. I think these jobs getting filled are good signs for us. Let the mess work itself out and we can have a quiet week that ends next Sunday or Monday bringing home our guy.
  6. Fuente resurrected a terrible Memphis program and turned a basketball school into a football school that competes at a very high level. They are playing for a conference championship with kids he helped recruit and develop. The success that Mike Norvell is having this year is largely due to the foundation set by Fuente. If Frost declines I think it would be a home run hire.
  7. Yes he was there. He helped give the Heroes award at the end of halftime with Governor Ricketts.
  8. Yes, I was so sure we were going to get news tonight, but we must be a little bit more patient. We will hear the first batch of good news in the morning. I am reluctantly going to sleep. Hope comes tomorrow.
  9. I thought it would happen tonight. I expected Moos to be at the podium after the game instead of Riley after the performance. When that didn't happen, I figured the news would come out sometime tonight. Doesn't look like that will happen, so hoping for news in the morning and reluctantly going to bed. A few more hours and there will be a little more hope for the future.
  10. You could definitely be right. I just don’t think he will take the risk in my opinion. History shows us that most coaches leave shortly after arriving at a non power 5 if they have success. Time will tell.
  11. I think considering the circumstances he will not stay at UCF. There are too many big time jobs that will be open this year and I don’t think he will risk taking a chance with UCF and not being able to land one of them down the road. I am obviously hopeful it will be a Nebraska. Fuente had a lot of success at Memphis and landed at Virginia Tech, Herman had success at Houston and ended up at Texas. Unfortunately for UCF, their ceiling is only so high.
  12. I don't think he ever landed anywhere this season. He stepped down when Kyle Shanahan took over in San Fransisco. Wealth of experience coaching running backs.
  13. It is sad that over the last 10+ years the most exciting part about Husker football has been the coaching search. We have gone through it twice with a lot of hype and terrible results. I am hoping many of you who have information are correct and Scott Frost finds his way home. Would be a nationally respected hire and give energy to this program that has been missing for a long time. With the depression of this season, I for one enjoy a mega thread to explore the "what ifs" and dream of getting back to being competitive with the elite. I don't post often, but enjoy reading the comments from everyone.
  14. Would be a great hire in my opinion if a new coach is hired. He has done very well in the past coaching receievers, TEs, or running backs, all positions under his teaching excelled.
  15. I may be crazy, but I have never turned off a game. In 2001 against Colorado my family was in Branson, MO for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We had big plans to go to Lambert's Cafe after the Husker game on Friday. Wanting to beat the rush, my mom and sister begged my dad and I to turn off the AWFUL game and leave. My dad said we were staying and we did, just like always. Good or bad I sit through it, even if it is misery. I hope there will be much more joy and less embarrassment as I watch games in the future.
  16. I am very excited for the new offensive line coach. He seems very hands on and expects a lot out of the players. He is intense and fiery, but respected by the kids. Reminds me a lot of the way Coach Tenopir approached things. I am looking for this group to be much improved in the immediate future. As a guy who loves offensive line play, it is encouraging for me to hear him speak about how much he loves coaching the position. He loves the battle and the competition going on in the trenches. When you have a guy who is passionate about the position, works hard, and expects a lot out of players I think the results will show on the field! Go Big Red!
  17. Yes, he was at the Nebraska Football Clinic in the spring. I was at the clinic and very impressed with coach O. I knew about his recruitng skills before the clinic, but really learned a lot about him as a coach. I was able to visit with him for 5-10 min before he spoke and he was a down to earth guy. This would be a home run hire as an assistant and I hope Riley pursues his interest. Very excited to see how the staff comes together in the coming days. Go big red!
  18. Orgeron would be an absolute home run assistant. I had the pleasure of listening to him speak this past spring during the coaching clinic at Nebraska. He outlined what he did as the interim coach at USC. Very much like Riley seems to be, he is a people person with a great relationship with everyone involved in the program. From parents to players, to student assistants and other coaches he treated everyone equally and made them feel important. I knew he was a solid coach and recruiter before then, but after meeting with him and listening to him speak I was hoping Pelini could find a way to bring him on staff. I am looking forward to the days of ahead. I am a Nebraska fan, no matter who the coach is and can't wait to see what Coach Riley can do at this awesome University. Go Big Red!
  19. I don't understand all the questions on Tressel's character. He made some mistakes, but from the start was defending his players. Many people around the nation had the same feelings when Osborne had issues in his program with Lawrence Phillips, Peter brothers, etc. But, us, as Husker fans trusted his judgement and true character. These are Osborne's words from a couple years ago in support of Jim. "I don't really know enough about [Ohio State's situation]," Osborne said. "I do know Jim Tressel, and I believe that Jim's an honorable person. There will be those who will criticize me for saying that, but I think I know Jim's character. What happened, I don't know a lot about the details. I certainly hope for his sake that things turn out OK, and for Ohio State." I would support bringing Tressel here. I think he would create a buzz and bringing a big timing winning attitude. In a perfect world, he could bring in Frost as OC, but I think that is dreaming. Interested to see how it all plays out.
  20. A guy who I think could do a very good job and I have not heard much mention is Justin Fuente. He is the head coach at the University of Memphis. Memphis has been an embarrassment of a football program for years, with the exception of a couple of bowl teams while NFL running back Deangelo Williams was there. In just 3 years Fuente has the Tigers going to a bowl game again with a record of 8-3 and a solid shot to win the American Athletic Conference with a record of 6-1 currently. The tigers had 450 yards of offense and lost by just a touchdown when they played at UCLA. Only other losses come to Ole Miss and a last second lost to Houston. He was the running backs coach at TCU, then promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator and QB coach from 2009-2011 before coming to Memphis. He has put in the time and is 38 years old and brought a lot of energy to a bad program and a basketball centered school. I think he could do some great things at a school like Nebraska with a great fan base and big time resources. Food for thought.
  21. I am really not worried at all because of the spring game. Pelini has only had 15 practices with the team, he is not suppose to perform miracles quite yet. He has time and I am confident we will be ready to go in the fall!
  22. Yeah, I liked the option, but hopefully it isn't too integrated into the new offensive system. I think it would be a good addition to the offense, especially: Zone Read and QB Slot Option Read. I would also like to see the "regular" option (QB + HB) but disguised so it can come out of many different formations. These ideas would keep the defense on its toes, especially if mixed in with some different running plays and passing plays. Make that defense think! Whenever playing a sport, at least in my experience, the more you think, the more you over analyze. The more you over analyze, the more likely you are to make a mistake. Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone. Yep. Looks like Glenn might be taking some huge leaps towards the LB position. We shall see though. I agree with your idea of what the option should be. We will not be seeing the traditional I formation triple option. But, a zone read type of option will really help spread some defenses out an open up a lot of things for the offense. I am looking forward to seeing it!
