  1. Forde is bipolar. He rips Nebraska every chance he gets in full columns, but in his Forde First Yard column he's usually pretty banal towards us.
  2. Not only did you not cite the source for that poem, you stole it from a chick movie. Bad, bad, bad.
  3. We have blitzed a fair number of times this year. We blitzed several times against OSU, and got burned a couple of times because the DBs were out of position as a result. Overall our last two games do not inspire confidence heading into this game. Our defense looked OK against Texas, yet still surrendered a lot of yards and was outcoached and out of position several times, and against OSU we saw more of the same. If we have the same busts against Missouri we're going to lose this game, and we're going to have done it to ourselves once again.
  4. Aren't you the same guy who's been coming here for years shooting his mouth off, making wagers, then slinking off into oblivion when you lose? Who are you to talk to anyone here about class? A few hundred of your brethren followed Husker fans to their cars and berated them unmercifully when you guys lit us up for 76 points a couple of years back. I suppose you'd agree that this behavior is representative of all Jayhawk fans, right? Get a clue.
  5. News should be given out for instruction rather than information. Not every item of news should be published. Rather must those who control news policies endeavor to make every item of news serve a certain purpose. It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion. It is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. All propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it... Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise. The size of the lie is a definite factor in causing it to be believed, for the vast masses of a nation are in the depths of their hearts more easily deceived than they are consciously and intentionally bad. The primitive simplicity of their minds renders them a more easy prey to a big lie than a small one, for they themselves often tell little lies, but would be ashamed to tell big lies. What luck for the rulers that men do not think. The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it. How far from this do you think we are, with meldable, moldable people in society like those who blindly follow the Tea Party, or the Republicans or the Democrats? Seventy years later, with all that instructional history at our disposal, and we've learned nothing.
  6. OK, I can reproduce that. QB Live works very slowly for me on my Mac/Firefox, too. Epoc, I apologize for the slowness, but I think it will get better when we're done making the tweaks we're working on. The crummy part, for you, is that we're volunteers working on this in spare time, so it hasn't been a fast process. It'll get better, hopefully soon. Bear with us.
  7. Riding the pine? Nah. He'd have started last year, and maybe the year before that, depending on how Ganzy competed for the job. The reason he made a smart move was that we simply did not know who our coach would be or what kind of offense we'd run. He's doing fine where he's at; I just wish he had gone somewhere else.
  8. The question in the OP is too narrowly focused. Like Nebraska, Missouri is multiple on offense. Their offensive scheme is largely geared towards Gabbert's arm, but that doesn't mean they can't run. They can run - they just don't usually need to. A good analogy is Nebraska's passing offense - we can pass, we just usually don't need to. Against Oklahoma, where Missouri couldn't just throw 60 passes and win, they kept the Sooners off balance with a well-designed attack of nearly equal run/pass (39/42). What we've seen is that both teams can pass and run, and win games doing either. That means that you can shut down Gabbert and lock up all his WRs, but Missouri can still beat you on the ground. You can load up the box and bottle up Martinez/Helu/Burkhead, but Nebraska can still beat you with a vertical passing game. The team that wins will be the team that is most capable of slowing down the other team's primary weapon (Missouri stopping Nebraska's rush, Nebraska stopping Missouri's pass), yet at the same time can slow down their Plan B enough to score on their own. If Missouri cannot stop the Huskers' rushing attack, and we can shut them down through the air, we stand a good chance of winning. If Missouri shuts down our rush and they are able to move the ball through the air like OSU did, they'll likely win.
  9. He probably meant to say conference championship.
  10. Alex was fourth on the team in rushing Saturday.
  11. This is why you cannot ever bench Niles Paul. For all the realistic gripes that we can mention about him, the guy has the potential to be a game-changer. There isn't a play he's involved in that he cannot score on.
  12. We have been awfully stingy on defense, aside from our last game. Do you really think the Tigers are going to get 29 points on us, Tuff?
  13. Iowa State has played the sixth toughest schedule in the country. Yes, they're going to give up a bunch of yards and they're not going to have a glowing record, and at times they'll play like ass. But if the Huskers walk in there looking at their record and their stats and think this isn't a team to bring the A Game against, well, 2009 should ring a bell. Coincidentally, Nebraska has played the 41st toughest schedule, far "easier" than ISU's, but we've also given up a bunch of yards and points. Absolutely we're better than Iowa State and absolutely we should beat this team. All I'm saying is there is no reason to expect to waltz in and win an easy game. This year's team is better than the team we lost to last year. Expect a dogfight. If you look at the NCAA stats page you'll see that Iowa State isn't in the top 50 in any major category except one - Turnover Margin, where they're ninth in the country. We're 43rd in Turnover Margin. Anyone remember why we lost the game last year?
  14. I see Cy has been hitting the sauce again. Iowa State could beat us again. They have a for-real defense, and when they come to play, they can play well. Further, they may catch us on the back end of an ugly loss for the second year in a row. However, if they beat us, I'm sure they'll do it with our full attention, unlike last year when we were clearly hung over and not showing the Clones the proper respect. Somehow, no matter what happens this weekend, I don't see us going into Ames overlooking the Cyclones.
  15. You may not like the announcers in this game, but regular rules of the board apply to this thread. Do not post sexual references in your comments. If you can't express yourself any other way, take it to the Woodshed.
  16. I know we had to add a team to our schedule, since we only had six home games and we need seven for budget, but I hadn't heard anything about this. Any source for this rumor?
  17. Favre with two fractures in his ankle. And he's saying he still might start Sunday.

    1. Ratt Mhule

      Ratt Mhule

      Hes a tough sob

  18. Yep, I saw that too. I figured it was LTCG, but I didn't want to rewind to find out. I don't dig his act, but he's good people. I'm a Ron White kinda guy.
  19. Youngest guy on the list. This Martinez guy might be a keeper.
  20. Once again, a good read. I threw up in my mouth a little seeing Missouri atop the rankings, but they earned it. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, though! Beware!
  21. I think this is why we won't see a lot of huge threads with a gazillion stats this year, compared to last year. Last year we had each played four games before we met. This year we've both played enough games to have seen brilliance and ignorance on both sides of the ball. I doubt either team or fan base will realistically come into this game thinking it's a sure win. Realistically, both teams could win, and I wouldn't be surprised at a shootout, a defensive struggle, something in between, or either team blowing the other out.
