  1. But apparently he didn't so hopefully that's a good sign - as is the Husker logo. What I find weird is that does this mean that ND hasn't actually offered him a scholly? To me that wouldn't make sense, but maybe I'm reading too much into his word choice.
  2. No prediction, and I could be well off base, but his "havent found the right fit" comments could be all window dressing. He may have made up his mind or significantly narrowed his choices, but wants the luv fest to continue a while longer.
  3. LOL....67 users reading this topic (with bated breath)
  4. Haven't read all the posts in this read so maybe this will seem random... That Spurrior guy that just beat Bo was known to be quite the hothead (and whiner) when he was at Florida. Not agreeing or disagreeing with any post, just providing another perspective.
  5. Had to laugh at the part in bold. NU has the 4th most all time wins. I think that constitutes being "historically good".
  6. Got a little nervous when the announcer said he was headed to "Big 12 country" before the announcement.
  7. Westerkamp - Husker commit, and couple others that are recruits, that I think are supposed to announce during the game.
  8. What channel will show the game? I've looked at the sports channels for this evening and don't see it listed. Avery Moss and Jared Afalava are both announcing tonight. I believe the channel is CBS Sports Network. Thanks, SkerChicago!
  9. What channel will show the game? I've looked at the sports channels for this evening and don't see it listed.
  10. Could be...............or it could be that JP is going to get it and the replacement for him is currently with another team....................too many scenarios...........just going to have to wait on Bo's timetable.............. I'm pretty convinced of the following scenario: - JP is not the first choice or he would have been named already. If he was the sure DC, you'd want to name him that, if nothing else so he'd have more "clout" with recruits, especially with all the defensive guys we're after. You can wait to fill in position coaches until whoever you pick is available. - JP is the second (or maybe third) choice which is what Pelini and Osborne are talking about when they say there is "a plan." - We are waiting on one of two scenarios to play out: --- Stoops (or possibly someone similar but I can't think of who else would fit his situation) is waiting to see if he gets another head job or possibly Venables leaves for a head job (Houston?) and Stoops goes back to Oklahoma. I would think the bigger head jobs would be filling shortly so this should play out sooner rather than later. --- The other possibility is we have an agreement with someone but they don't want to announce until after their bowl game. Again, probably playing out in the next couple weeks. Obviously there are a lot of scenarios but I think something along those lines makes the most sense. I tend to agree. Its the only possibility that makes sense to me. The whole thing about Bo messing with the media wouldnt completely surprise me considering his track record, but would have to think TO wouldn't be on board with that approach, nor do I ultimately believe Bo thinks that would be the appropriate way to handle biz. Ever since the media's been pumping JP, it would seem more and more odd that Bo wouldn't just announce it. Can't see the benefit in letting it fester. I don't believe an internal hire would require much complication, but as Mavric mentions, if the "plan" doesnt work out, it may go to JP by default.
  11. I understand the thought of talking to "other people" instead of directly to the coach to maintain plausible deniablilty, but isn't Bo his own agent? If I'm correct, I'm curious who some think are the "other people" that surround Bo.
  12. WTH, I'm here, so I'll jump in. I remember many thinking TO's offense was boring. I thought it was beautiful. Nothing better than watching the option run to perfection or the FB trap busting off a long one up the middle. Like earlier said, I'll take the win over style. I wonder if the toss sweeps they ran yesterday were busting off 10-20 yards a pop with a couple of long TDs, if some would still think this style is boring. I wonder if some of the younger members of the audience are too conditioned to think that the pass happy NFL is what only makes for exciting offense.
  13. Ah, another media thread. Not saying this was the case in this instance, but I sometimes wonder what the percentage is that writers use "this is what fans think" to promote their own personal agendas/feelings in the report/story.
  14. My thought is that the players and coached shouldn't be overly concerned with the fans or media like Bo preaches. However, Bo himself can't seem to follow his own advice. Frankly, I dont think the team should ever read whats typed on anonymous message boards. With that stated, I dont think I've ever seen a Husker team so concerned with whats being "said" about them from those of us outside the program (including the media), and sadly, I think they've collectively let it negatively affect them. IMO, sites like this are for the fans to express thoughts, have discussion, and provide our own amateur analysis. Or more pointedly, they're for our entertainment/outlet (and for some, a money making opportunity). They shouldn't be used by those in the program, or even media, to draw conclusions about how the collective fanbase personally feels about them.
  15. I agree that he's a better game mgr, however, I also think its made him a worse overall QB. Now he seems scared to take off when a good running lane exists because the coaches want him to be more of a pocket passer (so he doesnt get hurt). He's not a great passer, nor do I believe he ever will be. They've taken a great, ridiculously fast runner who was a poor thrower, and turned him into an average thrower and an average runner. IMO it looks like opposing defenses don't account for him as a runner like they used to and have no problem rushing straight at him instead of worrying that he might get out of the pocket. Since he's no longer as effective as a runner, the whole running game is less effective too, and IMO its resulted in less wide open receivers (where passes dont have to be as accurate) compared to last year and earlier in the season, thus, forcing him to be more of a pin-point passer for which he's not equiped. I still have visions of Washington, K-State, and Okie State from last year. Unfortunately, I dont think that QB exists anymore. Not so much because he couldn't be, the coaches have just tried to coach it out him.
  16. Unfortunately, I can think of a few negative memorable moments: Crouch fumbling at the 1 against Texas (broke 41 game home winning streak), Nunn fumbling the game clinching first down against Texas, and LeKevin Smith fumbling away the game clinching interception with 16 seconds left against Texas Tech. I'm sure there's some OU infamous moments I'm forgetting.
  17. Was it the Iowa game, in perhaps '99, when Crouch ran over a DB for a 42 yardish TD run? Maybe that one off the top of my head. (I think this one was in Lincoln.)
  18. couldn't agree more. People do not choose to be gay. There's two components to that IMO, do they choose what they are attracted to? Probably not (although some do I'm sure) Do they choose to act on it? Yes, they could always choose not to act on their feelings. In the same breath murderers could say they don't have a choice, they have problems so on and so forth. I would agree the feelings are there, but you always have a choice on how you act, always. Every lifestyle is a choice, sexual orientation, drug use, alcohol use, tobacco use, religion. All life is, is a series of choices. Some may be very difficult or confusing choices, some are no brainers, but they are all choices. Agreed. I don't know how one can honestly claim superiority on one side of the nature v. nurture debate. Neither has proven to be 100% encompassing on anything beyond physical traits.
  19. And theres the problem I have with the social media. In a vacuum I could care less about this stuff, but if it could potentially hurt recruiting, I want it tightened up.
  20. What the heck. I'll throw in my two cents: Whether you're gay or straight I'll never understand the need to make a pronouncement about one's sexuality one way or the other. The only way I should ever know is if one is asking me out, and even then, for all I know, the person may be bi. One's sexual preference should stay in the closet, er, stay in one's sanctuary. Also, one can fight for homosexuals' rights and still not flaunt their sexual preference. Like most, I could care less about an NU player's sexuality outside of feeling some need to actually share it with me/us. Where my concern would lie would be in recruiting. Would it hurt NU's ability to recruit? I would think most recruits wouldn't care, but some good ones might.
  21. I think age and experience dictates the answer to the posed question. In my mid-20s, living in AZ, I invested a lot of emotion in rooting for the team. At that time I don't think I'd have had the clarity to want TO fired. (and yes, I agree that because TO is TO, this is purely fantasy) Now pushing 40, and after a terrible decade, compared to the 80s and 90s, and I imagine after other life changing events/maturity, I would agree that TO would've needed to be fired if this had happened under his watch. Its not about whether the NCAA violation is large or small, its about running a clean program, and setting an example for students to follow. For me, a University should still be a school first. Somewhere down the line, being exceptional at an extra-curricular activity can matter.
  22. My initial reaction was negativity towards the tone even though I understood the point he was trying to make. However, if you read the comments section. Hlas reacted appropriately to facts that were presented by Husker fans, and admitted that he may have been mistaken with some his points. The fans also were non-confrontational with their posts, unlike some here. The one thing I disagreed with was his statement about if NU won the Legends this year then his other points would be moot. Not sure how that correlation was made.
  23. Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder, VA.
