  1. My problem with the whole this is they usually pick the most opportune time to show Bo on the sideline, after we've done something dumb or had a poor call go against us. They're not showing him the other 99% of the time. I think Bo gets an unfair rap for his tirades because that's all that seems to make the broadcast. He had every right to blow up on the sidelines when our offense couldn't stop shooting ourselves in the foot the second half of the bowl game.
  2. http://games.espn.go.com/college-bowl-mania/en/story?pageName=bowlmania\2011picks Wow, doom and gloom, woe is me, the sky is falling, the world is ending. I hope Nebraska comes out inspired and shocks "the world" South Carolina (30) over Nebraska: Capital One Bowl, Jan. 2 PickCenter Matchup South Carolina didn't win the SEC East this year, but the Gamecocks beat every team in the division and won 10 games for just the second time in school history. That wasn't surprising, since this is the best era in the 120-year history of the program and the team entered the season as the division favorite. What's surprising is that Carolina accomplished this despite the midseason loss of a preseason Heisman candidate at running back and the SEC's most accomplished returning quarterback. Losing Marcus Lattimore and Stephen Garcia caused Steve Spurrier to rely on the team's outstanding defense, and it wasn't until the final game of the season that the offense showed true progress with Connor Shaw under center. The blowout of rival Clemson validated Spurrier as an adaptable offensive mastermind and Shaw as a player who can lead the team to greater heights next season. Carolina has limped into -- and subsequently tanked in -- its past three bowl games. This year, on the heels of a landmark performance by Shaw, the team is buying into its future like never before. The team's attitude entering the postseason is different this year, partly because it's the most prestigious postseason assignment in school history but largely because what Shaw did against Clemson has made him the real leader of the team for the first time. With the offense on the upswing and a defensive front that's the beneficiary of a mismatch against a weak Nebraska offensive line, Carolina is confident heading into this matchup. That's a lot more than can be said of Nebraska, which after four years is only starting to realize that the program is failing under Bo Pelini. The 66th-ranked rush defense is not as advertised; the coach's right-hand man is out the door for a Sun Belt gig; and the offense -- under mercurial triggerman Taylor Martinez and the weakest offensive staff in the Big Ten -- has yet to craft an identity and is primarily defined by its lack of ball security. These programs are moving in opposite directions.
  3. Couldn't agree more, that's my biggest gripe with the Pelini era, we're perfectly content to take the "air out of the ball" and go ultra conservative when we get up by 2 touchdowns. The Iowa game infuriated me, we get up 20-0 and all of a sudden it's hand-off up the middle 3 times and punt. Ridiculous. It's like going into 4 corners in basketball with 6 minutes to go, you end up losing a lot of the time because you lose your momentum and it's hard to get it back. I long for the days of beating people by 6 or 7 touchdowns because it was usually the 2nd and 3rd teams piling on the points at the end.
  4. Uh..... what? I think you need to go look at the participation list. Participation over healthy guys? The only reason some got in on the O line and the D line was injuries pure and simple. Bo didn't play any of them to develop them. Cooper and SJB to corner. Was this for development or lack of experience or trying to "find" the right guys? The subs were not in there to develop depth and get experience. Game 6 until we had a set secondary. Game 6. The guys running in and out were trying to get starting time, not a plan by Bo to get depth and experience. Look at last year (year 3) and see what we had returning this year at the skill positions. No RB besides Rex, QB Martinez, only Kinnie with a catch, Cam at DE, Dennard at CB, no one at PK, return or punter. This year more of the same. No one coming in to get reps unless the starter is injured. The O line rotated at Udub and really never again. I like Bo, but to say this staff is developing depth and experience is crazy IMO. http://huskermax.com/stats/ It's amazing why Carnes didn't see more action, look at his Passing efficiency, 209!!! Completion %, 100%. Unreal, kid should have seen the field a lot more!!
  5. Thank Beck for that one, up 20-0 and waste 3 offensive possessions in a row was ridiculous
  6. David, Burkhead absolute studs! But unfortunately, still no desire to get experience to the back-ups. Last 3 offensive series' were pathetic.
  7. I literally spit out my Jack & Coke when he was talking about Cassidy playing in the next level!
  8. Totally agree, he should have said he was frustrated at getting blatantly held the previous two plays, which drew no flags, and lost his cool in the heat of the moment. He's already a target of the officials, now that bullseye just got a whole lot bigger as teams will start to pick at him to get him to go off.
  9. I could see it now...LET'S GO CENA! CENA SUCKS! LET'S GO CENA! CENA SUCKS! Cena has been replaced with Carl Lewis!! Hopefully he sings the national anthem for them haha
  10. That holding by the opposing team's offensive line does not exist in Big 10 play
  11. In the pistol, TMart is far enough away from the LOS that he can actually run towards the DEnd going forward, when he's under center, he usually has to run backwards because the line is getting pushed back. I agree, the option is looking much better than earlier in the season. I still don't understand the option to the short side either, especially when we don't have a split out to occupy the safety. That leaves the DEnd and corner unoccupied and leads to TFL
  12. The most frustrating thing I saw Saturday was Cassidy's "love taps." Is he afraid to hit? There were several times he could have laid the wood to a NW guy, but gently helped him to the ground.
  13. Where was Chase Rome at against NW? I didn't see him at all, injury?
  14. Where was Chase Rome today? Anyone have any info?
  15. Reminds me of the helmets during the Senior bowls, decals everywhere!
  16. Don't forget the fact that we were "blessed" to have the hardest cross divisional schedule right out of the box (Wisconsin, Penn State & Ohio State). Wisky got us and Michigan State, but they were given a pass with Minnesota as their 3rd. It'll be nice when Wisconsin and Ohio State give way for our series with Illinois, Purdue and Indiana.
  17. Even if it was because their backup QB was in, it was nice to see the D get a little swagger back. Coverages were all of a sudden better, the D was jacked up and more fluid, playing loose and making plays. We haven't really seen that much at all this year. Hopefully this is the turning point with the D and they can use the bye week and Minnesota to get some confidence and get ready for the 2nd half of conference play.
  18. I see 4 different arms grabbing at him, do I dare say "quadruple teamed"?
  19. Couldn't agree more, same thing happened with Crouch and his Heisman chase, no reps ever for the backup and then the next year we saw what happened. My concern with Martinez is that the ankle still seems to be limiting him. He has no lateral cutting ability and doesn't seem like he can get up to top speed near as fast as he did before. His ball security has been much better when he is able to prepare for taking a hit, but still carries it way too loosely prior.
  20. The "Herbie" drinking game will be in full effect Saturday night!!!
  21. My only concern is that with all this stuff on Offense and Defense that "we haven't seen yet", are we going to be able to execute it since it will be the first time in game speed or is going to be a cluster %$? That worries me a little. I would give them the slight edge at this point in the season, but would give us the edge in CCG
  22. Best experience of my life. I remember standing in the middle of Mill Ave. in Tempe New Years Eve jawing back and forth with Gator fans, there had to be a few hundred NU & Florida fans standing in the middle of the intersection talking it up. The words that were being thrown around were exactly what you spoke of, all the Gator fans were talking loads of crap about how they were going to blow us out and all the NU fans were quietly confident. I had the experience of sitting in a mostly Florida section at the game, well, until about the middle of the 3rd quarter when the only color left in our section was red! haha I still get pissed off when I think about Peter running down right into my endzone high stepping, and not getting points for it!!
