  1. If memory serves me correctly, the Conventional Wisdom on "The Sock" was that his "inside info" was nothing more than the product of a premium subscription to RSS, right? Whats the Over/Under on whether or not we can expect to start hearing from him again at some point this season? =)
  2. Exactly, couldn't agree with you more whistle. I think we have a quixotic Synedoche on our hands here.
  3. You lose all credibility with the implication that Langsdorf should remain. We have a Class 5 dumpster fire on our hands, there is nothing we can do except sit and watch it burn. The burning stops when Riley goes, until then we will have to put up with threads like yours as it is the nature of the beast.
  4. "Hang in there"? Really? Hahahaha.... What a sh*t show. Incredibly Eichorst is even more tone deaf than I thought.
  5. Let's assume for a moment that the decision makers were actually considering firing Riley (which is NEVER going to happen this year). To not do so for fear of the impact it would have on recruiting, would be tremendously short-sighted. It would be missing the Forest for the Trees in an incredibly stupid capacity.
  6. "Quixotic Synecdoche" Im still cracking up over your reply to the guy who posted that. lol. =)
  7. Interesting, I figured as much (about the dual threat aspect). I was surprised to see that you guys played BC so close, and from what I read, had a chance to win the game at the end. It looks like your defense is the strength of your team this year, looking forward to seeing how the O vs. D matchup plays out. I would not be surprised if your D keeps you in the game longer than people will be expecting.
  8. Thats Santacaterina, right? What is his upside, is he a dual threat guy?
  9. I want to see us win it going away, something in the neighborhood of us putting 40-50 points up while limiting them to 14-17 points.
  10. I hope so. I want to believe that we'll win comfortably, but would not be shocked if it was a tighter game than many on this board are expecting.
  11. For those who didn't take the Oregon loss as heavily as those who did, I'm curious about something, would a close loss to Northern Illinois create cause for concern in your opinion? I'm not talking about the game unfolding in the same way the Oregon game did where the Ducks raced out to a huge lead, I'm talking about an even, pitched back and forth battle which saw the Huskers losing a close one...say 34-31, something like that. Would you suspect/worry about deeper issues (whatever they may be), or not so much since the loss would have zero impact on B1G goals, etc.?
  12. I know your comment was tounge in cheek, but honest question...who thinks that?
  13. Not related specifically, but I do think Tom Herman will eventually turn around Texas in a big way.
  14. ODH, I agree with you that finding a good coach isn't easy, but Fraklin at PSU made sense, Andersen made sense, Chryst made sense. From a fundamental common sense standpoint, and by most measurable levels, these guys all made sense. You could defend the hiring of each. We went out and hired a guy who has never had ANY consistent, appreciable, worthwhile success ANYWHERE he has ever been. Let that sink in. He spent 4 years as a HC in the CFL, his winning percentage? .556 He spent 2 years as a HC in the WLAF, his winning percentage? .550 He spent 3 years as a HC in the NFL, his winning percentage? .292 He spent 14 years as a HC for OSU, his winning percentage? .542 This hire made absolutely zero sense, and quite possibly represents the peak of ineptitude by our aa. Of course we can't fire Riley now, the optics of such would be horrible. As disgusted as I am at our Athletic Administration, I am sane enough to realize firing Riley is not an option. For better or worse, we are stuck with Riley, and can only hope that Eichorst or his replacement doesn't bungle the next hiring decision...
  15. My guess is that Riley goes 7-5 or 8-4 this year, and 7-5 or 8-4 next year. At the end of next year, meaningful people will probably get on the train of Riley needing to be on the hot seat. He'll get another year with which he'll go 7-5 or 8-4 and that will be it. So, my guess is that we are stuck with this joker for at least 2 years, maybe even 3 years. the sad thing is that deep down inside, I feel like this program has been "poisoned" by a staggering level of ineptitude that has now spanned multiple athletic administrations. For whatever reason, the leaders of our athletic department just cannot right the ship. No one is expecting us to be NC contenders year in and year out, but we most certainly should be the class of the Big Ten West, and frankly I don't ever see that happening. we need a difference making Head Coach, and I don't see anyone like that wanting to come here. I think the only way we get someone like that is by paying 4 or 5 million a year, cash (and lots of it) will be the catalyst to fix this thing. Wisconsin is the team we SHOUlD be. Mark my words, Mike Riley will NEVER beat Wisconsin. it is mind boggling to me that Penn State, a team on the death bed decimated by sanctions, Wisconsin, a team that had had umpteen coaches in recent years, are both able to have more success than we can muster. It is a sad pathetic thing.
  16. Let's see... We learned: A) Diaco is a joke B) Riley is a .500 coach, and access to NU resources won't change his pedigree. C) Eichorst idiotic hiring decision will haunt this program equally as much his inept predecessor Petersen with Callahan. D) The future (for years to come) is grim E) We are a 7-5/8-4 team and will be for years to come.
  17. The announcer just said; "this has been a fun one in Eugene" Yeah, loads of fun watching your f%^*#ng football team suck for the better part of 15 years along with an inept athletic administration which can't pull its head out of its ass, and that inexplicably spans multiple AD's. yeah, lots of fun being embarrassed.
  18. I create a thread earlier in the week asking where the confidence was coming from that we could even be competitive with Oregon. I promptly get run out of he thread. ECsuse people said I was being ridiculous, preposterous, etc. well here you go folks, what you are seeing happen right now is exactly why. We are awful, have been for the better part of twenty years now. We get embarrassed in national tv year in and year out, that is not going to change anytime soon. We get smoked again today, what a Los of crap.
