  1. Its time to get a BIG TIME Dedicated Offensive Line Coach. Its time to bring the Pipeline back up to the standard which Nebraska is used to. I honestly believe that the offensive line was the biggest thing holding us back during the Pelini era. I feel like if we shore up the Trench we can be very dangerous. we have the bodies to make it happen, and its time to get back to dominating in the Trench. Also Strength and Conditioning Team and Training staff are huge to me. We need to start turning these boys in to men again. During Pelini tenure i have consistently seen too many of our offensive linemen and everybody for that matter coming in at a certain Weight and Power stats and not advancing beyond that point. we need to get back to putting 20+ pounds of muscle on these boys during a redshirt season. also i feel like we are getting injured too much which i also has to deal with our conditioning. also like the idea of a dedicated special teams coordinator.
  2. i can't BELIEVE mark pelini is still our starting center. he looks like a hobbit out there. he has no business playing center AT NEBRASKA. ANYBODY ELSE JUST NOT 5 foot 9 275 pound mark f'ing pelini. MY GOD IS HE TERRIBLE. tommy armstrong needs to start practicing ground ball shotgun snaps if mark pelini is going to continue to play football for this team
  3. After reading all that i got Absolutely nothing. Thanks Again Husker Board. Bravo
  4. Did anybody ever find out why LeRoy has to sit the year out? i know they were very vague initially. but with time sometimes things seep out. just curious what you all have heard.
  5. 1. TOMMY ARMSTONG IS A WARRIOR. 2. Offensive line as of now is garbage 3. Hate Zone Blocking 4. Bo Pelini Teams Really have no quit.
  6. barney has a bigger role than you think
  7. A completely different offensive system. Making that comparison is totally irrelevant. I am sick and tired of this being an excuse. What was so different? Give me an offense that is exactly what we run today in the current college world and what does their QB do. Not "like" ours, but what we run. The point being TO schemed to the strengths of the team and won. A lot. He was able to hide the inability in our QB's to complete passes in his system at a higher rate through play calling and execution in other phases of the game. beck hasn't and doesn't. People clamoring for a 65% or better ain't gonna get that NU. Not with this system, whatever the hell it is. I don't think we disagree... I'm not making an excuse. I'm just saying that in Beck's offensive system, a 50% QB isn't going to get the job done. And you can call for a more ground based offense, but that isn't in Beck's history. He likes to throw the ball. He's dying to. Pelini hired a buddy and (just like he did with Shawn Watson) is trying to get him to run an offense that he doesn't like to run. Two major problems you listed there. Beck's constant need to jam the pass down our throats. Also, the disconnect between the staffs coaching and the scheme we are running. It seems Bo and Beck aren't on the same page and it also seems like our offensive line is not on the same page. I don't want to blame the players but the offensive line has been streaky like this for years now. I just wonder if it's due to what they are being asked to do? Regardless, I just don't like what we are trying to do offensively. Especially with these slow developing run plays. AGREED!!! GET IN THE I FORMATION AND RUN THE f'ing BALL . TRAP O PLAYS. PULL THE GUARDS PULL TACKLES PUT 3 TIGHT ENDS ON THE FIELD PUT 2 FULLBACKS ON THE FIELD LETS USE OUR SIZE AND RUN THE f'ing BALL DOWN PEOPLES THROATS NO MORE COUNTER bullsh#t SLOW DEVELOPING MISDIRECTION. PICK A HOLE BLOW IT OPEN AND LET AMEER DO HIS THING IN THE SECOND LEVEL.
  8. it doesn't come down to Ameer making that play if jake cotton doesn't try to block a guy 18 yards down the field on an incredible catch by Westy. thats what makes me so mad is the stupid avoidable penalties that just kill our drives amber runs for 350 against FAU if not for STUPID penalties. we are also up 28-7 at halftime if not for more dumb penalties If his tendency is to force throws and throw ints, then my point still stands. He forces a throw and throws a pick in that situation then we may lose that game. BTW, who knows what would have happened on 1st down had he not been blindsided and sacked. Again, our offensive line is awesome I never said TA isn't our best option. In fact I said he is very good with the run game. I only said he has a tendency to throw ints. Others were stating that he made a great throw to AA, and IMHO, it was a throw that had nearly no chance of getting a first down.
  9. This is not a tommy armstrong issue at all. yes he made a few bad reads and didn't pay attention to Westy tapping his right hip to signify an out route on the pick 6. this was offensive line getting beat at the point of attack time after time. we haven't had consistent play on the offensive line since barney has been the coach. our quarterbacks year in and year out are having to run around and try to make plays with 5 dudes chasing them. this proved to be a huge issue for martinez and is becoming one for tommy. and jake cotton is an incredible player but he consistently makes boneheaded plays such as the lineman downfield on Westys incredible catch. the tripping play on the touchdown run. just shooting ourselves in the foot. but once again this is not a TA issue. when he does get time in the pocket he is incredibly accurate and can really throw a beautiful ball. and lets face it people are going to key on our run game and specifically Ameer all year and try to make us pass it. don't get me wrong Ameer is still going to get his no matter what just like yesterday. but big games are going to come down to the offensive line giving TA time to find our stud receiving corps. as they have proved time and again if tommy gives Westy, KB, Tarriq, Alonzo and company a chance to catch the ball they are going to do that. Folks football looks a lot different from when we were winning titles but nothing has changed. EVERYTHING STARTS IN THE TRENCHES. IT ALL STARTS AND ENDS BY BEING DOMINANT IN THE TRENCHES. Offensive and Defensive lines are the key to anything you do schematically. We have the Hogs to Do it on defense finally. now if we could just be above average on the offensive line i think you would see this team do some special things. We have so many weapons but the key is the offensive line giving our boys enough time to have plays and holes develop for TA, AA, Imani, and Company. i also am not a mark pelini believer. the center needs to be the anchor of that line and be able to help guards out and pelini falls short in my opinion. when getting blown off the ball at the point of attack every play things are doomed from the get go. we need to find somebody who is big and strong enough to get the center job taken care of. because 5 foot 11 285 is NOT going to get the job done against REAL nose tackles we are going to see coming up soon. I don't care who we find but mark pelini is not the answer. How about we tie one of these freshman offensive lineman and dedicate them to becoming an incredible Center instead of moving guys from position to position on the line every week you know who look like they could be a real center are Corey Whittaker, Duane Johnson Jr, Or the PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR CENTER IS DJ FOSTER. IT ALL STARTS AND ENDS IN THE TRENCHES FOLKS AND WE HAVE EVERY PIECE TO THE PUZZLE BUT ITS TIME TO PUT IT TOGETHER!!! END RANT
  10. Keels, King or Stoltenberg Burn Their Redshirts by chance?
  11. don't forget payton newell has the versatility to play end or tackle
  12. Valentine, Collins, Williams, Maurice, Payton Newell has the size and potential to slide inside McMullen could slide inside if in a emergency situation. if you told me i could pick a position to have somebody transfer from i would pick defensive tackle all day. don't want quitters like this on the team anyways. see ya later not going to miss him a bit.
  13. This is a tricky situation. Ameer made his "jump" because Burkhead got hurt. So unless he gets hurt, I am not sure Newby will make the same jump. Not with a potential Heisman campaign on the line. he'll get his shot early in the season. I don't expect AA to get more than 12-15 carries in any of the first 5 weeks. I am not sure I agree here. IMO, he will get 12-15 carries against Miami and possibly Fresno State. guys we are missing a huge piece here and that is Imani Cross. i expect him to suck up almost every carry Ameer doesn't get. dude could start at 55 of 65 big 5 conference schools. Thunder And Lightning this year with Ameer an Imani. i personally expect to see them on the field together in a lot of situations this year. so much versatility is brought to the field with Ameer, Imani, Kenny, Cethan Carter, Tommy, and Westerkamp. Throw some situational guys in there like Jamal Turner, Newby, and a big long guy like Tarriq allen or Zo Moore
  14. the sellout streak will not end anytime soon. there was a few years my grandfather recalls during the middle late 80s that there were seats unsold multiple times threatening to end the streak and they were all purchased and handed out by "Private Donors" believe me there are plenty of well off people in this state that would wrather hit the grave than see her not sell out. it WILL be sold out for at least the next 50 years
  15. Time for Bando To STEP UP. But who's next in line to spell him.... he can't play every play of every game
  16. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11328409/nebraska-cornhuskers-db-leroy-alexander-suspended-season?ex_cid=espnapi_public
  17. Don't think you would get a year ban before the season starts for just poor academics.........
  18. Present - Offense: Tie between Ameer and Kenny. Defense: Randy Gregory Or Nate Gerry. Past - Offense: Zach Weigert or Tommie Frazier. Defense: Suh, Prince Amukamara, Lavonte David Old School - Offense: Johnny The Jet. Defense: Rich Glover
  19. Farmer and Gates after their redshirt years getting adjusted might blow onto the scene around here. incredibly athletic guys. can't wait to see both of them on some pull/trap plays blowing dudes up
  20. THIS KID SHOULD BE ABSOLUTE LAY IT ALL ON THE LINE TO GET TO LINCOLN. GAME CHANGER. I KNOW HE IS A LONG SHOT BUT WE HAVE A SHOT.
