  1. Interesting that you would go with the 5-2-4 defense??? Why just curious??? The reason I would go to a 5-2-4 was because it seems that our front four is having trouble controling the line and is easily letting offensive lineman get to the linebackers. With a five man front, it would pretty much mean the D-lineman would go one on one with the offensive lineman and would not let them get to the second level in their blocking schemes. Thus allowing our linebackers to flow to the ball without lineman running them over. Also, notice that I put Turner and Octavien as the starting DEs. The are both very athletic and could easily drop back into coverage if need be. Obviously, on second and third and long, we would go to a more tradition four man front with five or six dbs.
  2. I would go with a five man defensive line. I think this might help with stuffing the run as the lineman would occupy the offensive lineman, hopefully leaving our linebackers free to make plays. I would also rotate very heavily up front as well as the linebackers. My starters.........................(backups) DE: Octavien.......................Pierre Allen/Potter DT: Ty Steinkuhler...............Barfield NT: Suh...............................Johnson DT: Potter............................Dixon DE: Turner...........................Steinkuhler/Octavien LB: Dillard............................Rudd/Octavien LB: Brandenburgh.................McKeon/Octavien CB: Bowman........................Jones CB: Grixby...........................Murillo S: Thenarse.........................Green/Eisenhart S: Asante.............................Wilson/Culbert Obviously, a lot of the personal would depend on down and distance. We would have our bigger guys and better tacklers in for running downs and more of our speed/coverage guys for passing situations.
  3. So are you for or against Prince A. playing this year?
  4. You would think we would at least go full pads one day a week to get after each other.
  5. Maybe you should check out the USC depth chart before you reference just two players.... FRESHMAN STARTERS WR - David Ausberry C - Kristofer O'Dowd FB - Stanley Havili RB - Joe McKnight DE - Everson Griffen Sophomore Starters RT - Charles Brown RB - C.J. Gable RB - Stafon Johnson RB - Allen Bradford FS - Taylor Mays Others who played early in the game WR - Vidal Hazelton - Sophomore CBs - Vincent Joseph and Shareece Wright - Both Sophomores Oh and by the way Patrick Turner as a freshman played in 12 games catching 12 balls for 170 yards and as a sophomore had 29 grabs for 272..... so this isn't his first field experience. USC and other high profile school's are gaining success with freshman and sophmores, so either our juniors and seniors are unreal (which by yesterday can't be true) or these guys we're recuiting aren't as great as everyone says they are...... or maybe C the coaching staff just needs to get these guys on the field, seriously could have they done any worse yesterday? So they had five starters in their backfield. No wonder they could run all over us. They had more players on the field than we did on their first play.
  6. Probally not having fans jump ship after a loss to the best team in the nation.
  7. Why is everyone saying that USC had their third string in during the whole fourth quarter. I remember seeing Taylor Mays in there during our last drive. He is there starting safety. Plus isn't Peterson a second string player for us? Wouldn't that mean that our second string scored on their so called third string?
  8. Im sure that fumble that he had against WF while trying to run out the clock had a little to do with it.
  9. I was pleased with most of our recievers in the game. They caught a lot of tough passes and we were running tough after the catch.
  10. Glenn got pretty pumped up last year with his (lets f'ing go) comment after a touchdown.
  11. I have the game taped and would be glad to look for it. Does anyone remember about what time or quarter of the game this happened?
  12. One thing that has caught my eye is how he changes his passes. He lofts some passes down field on certain passes, and then on the exact same route, he will rifle it down field. Maybe he does it to beat the defense or something, but it seems to me that the recievers might have a tough time with the timing aspect if it is always going to be a different type of throw.
  13. Did he get a DUI or just open container?
  14. I would be up for participating in it, but I would more than likely have to do it on Sunday during the day or Sunday evening.
  15. ON the pregame radio show, they were talking about Lee and how he is the scout team quarterback because he did not get the reps needed in Spring and Fall to move up the depth chart. It sounds like he is a definite redshirt. He did not travel with the team yesterday but it sounded like he could have (is there a limit for travel squad on nonconference games).
  16. im pretty sure 50s wont affect them, they do play in Washington and Oregon late in the season...im guessing theyve seen 50 before Thats why I thought that Nebraska humidity might be worse. I don't know what kind of Humidity USC has played in before, but I doubt that it is close to what Nebraska has to offer.
  17. Which would affect (or effect) USC more: cold weather or lots of humidity?
  18. If we have a fourth down at the 45 yard line in the fourth quarter against USC, I would hope that we punt the football. In a big game, is not the time to take a chance like that.
  19. I think the coaches are just bending the perception of reality for these players a little bit this week. They have probally put in some plays this week that they have been told is for Wake Forest but in all actuallity it is for USC. It is all going to come down to execution in both the WF and the USC game, as long as the players are executing then we should be in good shape.
  20. I think tearing down the goal post is one of the things that makes college football so great. The pure emotion that the fans show after their team upset a higher ranked team. I understand the whole "act like we have been there before" but when was the last time that we beat a #1 team at home while we were outside the top ten and probally double digit underdogs. Its been awhile.
  21. So to counter act their plan, should we try not to make any noise at all during the game so that when USC is in the huddle, their quarterback will be used to yelling the plays which will allow the whole blackshirt defense can hear the play?
  22. Agreed But as far as the topic is concerned, tearing down goal posts is busch league. Wake Forest is next??? Crap.... I already had 37-24 penciled in. Also, could you combine this thread with the other 4 discussing this exact same issue in June, and in April, and in February? I got a better idea..... let's tear down Wake Forest's goal posts!!!!!! After beating USC, we tear down Wake Forest's goal posts? Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
