  1. Go with Green and make him the man. Atleast with a freshman QB you'd think Watson would try to gameplan some better run plays
  2. Lee just doesn't have it. He rarely leads a receiver and throws them open. He instead is way to cautious and throws when the receiver is open. In this offense a qb has to make his read go through his progression and at times throw to the spot before the receiver is open. Lee just doesn't either a. have the the confidence to do so or b. just isn't correctly reading the defense and/or trusting that read. Cody Green did lock on to his receiver a few times, but what can you expect out of a freshman who comes into the game when we are in a one dimensional offense of throwing due to the clock. We started the 2nd half with a lot of zone reads when Lee was at qb and I expect that to be the focus of our offense as we move forward.
  3. I think Nebraska is stuck in somewhat of an identity crisis. Are we going to continue to be a WCO or some sort of the Spread. I think we are becoming a combination. It seems Pelini would want us to become a spread offense that controls the clock and rely on our defense. However, Watson is in control of the offense but for how much longer... This raises another question in recruiting the skill positions on offense. Right now i don't think we can compete with USC and orther WCO or pro-style offenses such as Alabama or ND for those positions and with Watson possibly or even the rumors that Watson will leave, what is our offensive identity going to be to bring in recruits. I personally like the future with our offensive line... we are bringing in some studs that should allow us to be flexible in what ever we do.
  4. Hopefully Pelini posts this is the locker room... what a laugher
  5. I don't know about the best because of all the greats that have came out of Nebraska, but I believe if he finishes the season strong his name can be added to the list of great Nebraska players as I don't think we will ever be able to peg down THE greatest.
  6. Actually after re-reading your post it sounds like the typical whiney Mizzou fan that i'm use to... crying about Suh welcoming Gabbert to Big XII football
  7. Agree with the first two paragraphs.. but in no way was Suh's hit dirty, don't take away a great effort by a great player! There were alot of questionable calls in this game, MU's left guard could have been called for a hold on almost every play, his tackles were in the double digits... The helmet to helmet contact on Lee was a legit and obvious call.. but Suh's tackle, r u serious??? in no way was it dirty or illegal.. is ur name by chance Mr. Daniels?? (referencing the spitting incident last year)
  8. I don't want this to come across the wrong way because Gabbert is a stud.. but could have easily (and should have) had 5 ints tonite.. has alot of growing to do in terms of decision making but his skill set is amazing.. Zac Lee is way ahead of him in terms of decision making but struggled to put the ball where it needed to be for the first 3 quarters
  9. Yes, moo is a pretty bad O team. Your crazy to think they even compare to the O that KU brings. Crazy I tell you. I'm bored so i can show you the stats so far this year if you want me to. Haha... if u confident after seeing our D line dominate against MU what will they do against KU weak Oline? Personally i think Reesing is already booking a reservation in Lawrence Family Medical Center for Nov. 15th
  10. 100 percent agreed. I don't understand not running the ball more, especially in that kind of weather. I hope Zac learns A LOT from this game, but I blame Watson once again. That was the worst play calling I have ever seen. I know I will probably get a lot of comments for saying that, but it is what is. I have to wonder if Helu might have actually been sick though...could be why we called the plays we did. I have to also give credit to Missouri, because they were playing to stop the run and they made Lee beat them. Smart move by them with a first time starter at QB. The defensive calls on our side were pretty good though. I have no problems with the way our D played. The offensive has really gotta step it up though and Watson needs to do a better job of calling plays to attack the weaknesses of the defense. Completely agree.... we needed to run it more and when we did run it we did alot of zones and sideline to sideline.. i think we needed more smash mouth running game going north and south.. Also agree that Helu's sickness may have been a cause seeing that my boy "Sexy Rexy" Burkhead got a lot of PT tonight!!!
  11. Interesting, top 3 teams are from the SEC, not saying i disagree but I do disagree with having LSU ahead of Florida until after this weekend if they beat them. Also, 2 Little 11 teams in the top 10
  12. I would expect something.. bye weeks are usually a good time to put in trick plays. Hopefully our "trick" plays work a little better then our "trick" defense we put in last year against MU.
  13. Personally the article came across as yet another arrogant missery fan who tried to be funny and take a shot at husker tradition, and failed
  14. You mean how many teams would have to lose twice in order for that to happen. Its not really that delusional...not too many teams would have to lose if nebraska would run the table (including beating texas in the big XII champ) we would be in the nc.. but is that going to happen, personally i don't think so.. but it is a possibility, albeit a very very slim possibility
  15. Why do Missouri graduates keep there diplomas on their dashboard? --So they can park in handicap spaces
  16. One question I have for Nebraska fans is this: MU had its way with Nebraska in Lincoln last season with a 6 touchdown differential for a Tiger victory. MU lost some talent, but so did Nebraska. The excitement around Nebraska football is welcomed, as it was a shame what Callahan did to your great program in just three short years. How do you think Nebraska has closed a 6 touchdown deficit in just one year, and do you think playing in Columbia gives the Tigers a boost heading into this early showdown on October 8th? Are you kidding me? I think it is pretty obvious how we have closed a 6 touchdown deficit.. You lost your three biggest threats on offense Daniels, Coffman and Maclin. Our defense looks much improved from last year and Mu, as Nu, is breaking in a new Qb... The only advantage I can give to NU is that our new Qb has faced a tough D.. although he played poorly he has atleast seen a tough D and responded well this week agains the Cajuns Columbia does give them an advantage; however, going on the trend of thursday night, the bigger question may be who is favored, It seems the underdog has won almost all the games on ESPNs Thursday night game Directed to Tiger in SC --> As to some of your other posts, I think it goes without saying you were flat out wrong about VT and Illinois.. VT beat a very solid Miami team
  17. .....and kicking the dog and beating the wife. A good buddy of mine lives across the street from an Omaha cop. He states that domestic abuse cases rise at an alarming rate after a Husker loss. I was listening to a postgame show a few years ago after a disheartening Husker loss. A caller said, "I'm so pissed.....I'm so pissed......I could....I could......I need to kill something." Dude, get a life. In St. Louis, after a tough Mizzou loss, the fanbase would say. Well hell....that sucks. When is the first pitch for the Cardinals game? Probably because it's a lot tougher to beat up you sister.
  18. dumb question, but yes i would do more then freak out
  19. Ha.. i would love to play Iowa in a bowl game.. except that would be a slam in our face to play in the same game as the Idiots Out Wondering Around.. otherwise known as Iowa... we will play in a better bowl game then those fools
  20. Zac lee played a very good game... anyone that evaluates him differntly is completly out of touch with football.. look at the situation he as put in.. his first touch of the fball was down 7.. watson stuck with the pre written script the entire first quarter, we ran it on first down on every drive and didn't gain a thing putting us in a very predictable situation... second quarter we started to open it up and mix up what we did on first down, guess what, we moved the ball.. the entire game comes down to lack of execution inside the 20.. plain an simple!!! either we had missed assignments on the line, a penalty, or dropped ball... we simply didnt execute inside the 20, its that plain and simple folks!
  21. good post , great questions 1. agreed, va tech offense was defiantly nothing special, however they did offer some match up problems that i think we handled well. 2. again agreed, however we will not have to deal with another qb that is a bigger threat with his feet then arm.. i guess the argument could be made for griffin from baylor, but come on, tyrod is a stud, and we defiantly gameplaned to make him beat us with is arm 3. we ran the ball well at times, the offensive line shuffle needs to stop, if we are going to be a serious contender to win the big XII.. which i think we can do, we need to get an established line and stop the rotation, there defiantly is a group that worked well together, give them the snaps and reps in practice and lets dominate! 4. yes, our tackles defiantly had a problem with the speed rush, establishing a set line would help but i don't see our tackles being able to consistently stop speed rushers on 3rd and long... best diagnosis is to avoid 3rd and long, but zac also needs to have a better presnap read and recognize the pressure 5. agreed, this could be huge motivating factor for the big XII season, bo will coach them up and i have the confidence this will serve as not only a motivating factor but as a discipline factor in practice.. this was a game we should have won and those games do not sit well with college coaches, this week of practice will be hell! this game will only motivate and re-establish the hunger.. I really do expect big things out of our boys this year... Bo will coach 'em up and use this as motivation... as an ex college fball player i feel for what they will go through this week but i expect this to be a major learning curve for not only the future but the near future
  22. solid post.. my 2cents holt and the wr core did not help lee out at all in this game.. holt dropped a few balls and one in paticular when i celebrated and then was ruled an incompletetion, which was the right call, but made me look like a fool for celebrating too early zac lee played ok.. made some crucial plays with his feet to keep it alive.. however didn't live up to the pocket passer i though he was.. however still a solid qb that i feel is way ahead of where ganz was last year.. makes the smart throw away but still knows when to force the issue.. i really was impressed with lee's instincts tonight.. he is a winner!! suh had an amazing game except for the end, i feel like he should have rushed tryod on the last td.. he just stood there.. was i the only one that say this?? however he had a solid game as the game progressed i felt as if our linebackers grew up.. took major steps.. will be a strength in the future however i feel our secondary is still suspect.. but i am still very confident in the huskers potential this year... WE HAVE THE TALENT TO MAKE A RUN!!! GBR!
  23. this may have been mentioned earlier but they ruled correctly.. the actual rule u are looking for is that the ball must be maintained through contact with a player or the ground.. clearly he lost control when he hit the ground
  24. yeah.. the offense will be doing some up downs tomorrow.. we will defiantly have some sore boys because the lack of execution inside the 20 is sickening.. i guarantee bo goes old school and the offense won't be able to lift there cups at dinner tomorrow
