  1. please rewatch the game. I got texts all night. Deer in the headlights. That is not a good thing. OU was 1/16 on 3rd down conversions. you cant win with stats like that. This team has 7 losses in 2 seasons. In all 7, no TD were thrown by the starting QB s. You think that means anything? Yes, it means we have an OC/QB coach who doesn't get them prepared or call plays that suit what is working and tonight our O-line was getting schooled on nearly every pass attempt in addition to a frosh QB who wasn't going through any sort of progression. Martinez hopefully isn't transferring and if he keeps working and grows as a QB and can stay healthy he could be really amazing. He's got a few years, hopefully he has a bitter taste from the losses and works hard in the offseason to try and make sure he never tastes it again. He's definitely a special athlete, just needs to work on complete mastery of the QB position and getting the team to feel his will to win.
  2. 1. He's not going anywhere, he'll be back next year and he'll likely be leading the team. Will he be the vocal cheer-leading teammate everyone here wants him to be all the time? No, not everyone... Nobody would be. Hell if it was 1995 there'd probably be 3 threads about Frazier being a jerk, In 1996 Scott Frost would be the worst QB ever to run the option, and In 1999/2000 Crouch would have been sent back to millard as a prima donna. 2. This is just speculation. First of all we don't know what exactly went wrong with Glenn and Castille. We know that neither expressed hard feelings when they were asked to leave, or since. Rumors about what caused them to leave weren't alcohol offenses that were dealt with by a court. Basically all that shows is there are some things that Bo says if you violate these team rules, find somewhere else to go. There isn't a lot to compare those dismissals to. Players simply haven't been getting in trouble with the law like they were when Callahan was running the show. That's the only conclusion I think can be drawn in regards to consistency. In any case, I'm sure all those guys have moved on. Probably time we do too.
  3. TCU brings absolutely nothing in regards to what realignment was about over the last year to the big 12. It's a small school, with a small stadium, that dominates a usually poor conference and exists in a TV market already covered by Texas, Texas A&M, TTech, and Baylor. In a recruiting area already dominated by the big 12. They would do absolutely nothing to add value to a league that's already made some pretty sketchy promises as far as money distribution. And lets say the league does fall apart, adding TCU means Texas has one more state school leeching on to it in any potential negotiations. Whose alumni and supporters in Texas politics (and this most likely why the pac16 didn't happen without Baylor in over CU) would be trying to threaten Texas's oil fund money. So while I think the writer is correct about who pulls Beebe's strings and the completely self serving interests of his Longhorn puppet-masters. Adding TCU makes almost no sense for the conference. Where as the big east, well that gains TCU a AQ conference, and opens up the Texas recruiting to the big east schools a bit as well as if TCU continues their success gives them a foothold in the Dallas TV market.
  4. Actually that first grab with his other hand was a facemask if you see the front of that play. So the call was wrong, but it wasn't a Totally legal tackle.
  5. Not once has any one of them said they were proud of that. A&M has good fans and are good people. A lot of husker fans seem to be letting what should be directed at the big 12 and its officiating be directed at A&M. It wasn't their fault officiating was skewed so bad or that our offense couldn't score. I feel bad for them honestly. They'll have to deal with this conference still. If you think they won't be in that same boat when the conference decides it wants Texas to win you are fooling yourself.
  6. Fair enough, and it may be that espn is doing the hype of the A&M offense because of the QB situation so perhaps that's where my impression came from. Who knows, been a long week. Especially with the Cam Newton soap opera going on across the sec on top of actual important football. I may also have come off more arrogant than I intended too, I should've mentioned that if Nebraska doesn't decide to show up and do small things like catch passes and not fumble it could be a long day for us as well.
  7. Are the aggies gone? okay good... I didn't want to say this with them watching, but they could be setting themselves up for a massive fall. They have supreme overconfidence in their offense. They're over-hyping the game with the discounted student tickets to get a sellout. They are completely miffed that Gameday didn't show up. I just get the feeling like they're investing too much in this game, like the Texas game this year for us or USC game before Callahan got driven out of town. I'm still not sold on Sherman, I don't think he's as bad as our ex-NFL reject, but hes had pretty big problems with every team so far. They are way too overconfident in their offense. Not 6 months ago Jerrod Johnson was the best thing ever, gonna run away with the south. Now a converted wide receiver is their new best QB and sure he's good but how much experience does he really have? I don't think anyone can count on taking advantage of our corners like Ubben seems to suggest. It depends entirely on Nebraska, if the team shows up to prove they can execute and put together a complete game with a chip on their shoulder like they did with Washington on the road, well it could be bad for A&M especially with them placing so much importance on this game. We've seen how that can make a team play tight and out of character first hand this year.
  8. Ohh another fan blog preview... At least Iowa State's fan blog has writers with an actual sense of humor that do them, probably should just completely copy and paste from widerightandnattlylight if you can't come up with something new or funny.
  9. Along with the other posts addressing this, our D-Line simply isn't as strong this year without Suh (big surprise) so that hasn't helped with the other issues as well. Looking forward to a good game!
  10. He definitely is, but they got that from us. ;p I watched the YouTube of your tunnel walk (pretty cool btw!) and I noticed that familiar yell from the Huskers crowd. Honestly, Suh has reinvigorated the Lions faithful like they haven't been in a long time. Yes, they lose a lot of games but mostly because they have crappy breaks. They don't often lose by much (did y'all see that Calvin Johnson TD? GRRrrr) and their QB seems to be made of glass or something because he keeps getting injured. The Lions fans were getting beaten, getting tired and then along comes SUUUUH. He can do no wrong. Even when he nearly ripped off Delhomme's head and drew that penalty, it was just like "Oh that's Suh. Plays with so much passion!" He's their silver lining. The Lions may lose, but "OMG did you see that play by Suh?" He's great. Of the basically two Lion's games I've seen on TV this year, yeah they look like they are close to being a decent team, but they have a couple three position groups they need fixed big time. Their offensive line is bad, they can't keep letting Stafford take hits since he obviously isn't durable enough to take them. Their secondary is questionable, aside from the dude that ran that one back and did the carlton in the endzone they didn't look good in the games I saw. Their linebackers look bad as well. The defensive line has been fun to watch with Vanden Bosch and Suh, partly because they are both former huskers, and because they play incredibly aggressive. Give them good coverage and better gap fillers and they would be doing even better at getting pressure and which could become really scary. Suh will continue to get better as well, since Pelini showed up here his junior season he showed that he really had his head on strait and works hard to become the best player he can be. As big as he is in Detroit, he's easily as big with the huskers. Arguably the best defensive talent Nebraska has had and the best ambassador of the program we could ever ask for as well. Which is why he's a player many of us still follow week to week hoping he does well.
  11. He definitely is, but they got that from us. ;p
  12. I don't think you can really parallel the timeline for USC violations coming to light. That was originally mainly investigated by Yahoo Sports using disgruntled and spurned agent types as sources years after the fact. This is different since the feds are involved. Sure the court battles will probably drag on for the federal cases they will be bringing towards people caught up in this, but the NCAA doesn't need a jury trial or conviction. This just greatly increases the speed at which evidence is going to be gathered for them since there are actual big time penalties involved for anyone that lies to the FBI... Of course the NCAA won't be ruling on anything without going through their own process, but I very much doubt that it'll be 5 years after the fact this time. If this actually goes so far as them losing their accreditation any NCAA ruling would be moot, since as I understand it in order to be a member organization of the NCAA and SEC you have to be accredited. Their athletic programs would pretty much just cease to exist and absolutely nobody would be enrolling in a non-accredited university. Since the same people seem to be involved in everything shady auburn has done in the last 30 years which has resulted in probation from both their accreditation organization and the NCAA it's going to come down to just how pissed those organizations are that they have to keep coming back to this. IMO anyways.
  13. In no way am I accusing Tuberville or Pelini of absolutely anything. Yes he is, hes insinuating that because Cam Newton's father tried to get Rodgers to get Miss St. to pay Cam that every other athlete that Rodgers has had contact with, including his son, is the same... Also that he had a friend want to go to the same school was fishy. What a freaking joke. On a side note, Don Imus worked on the radio for a long time until he got in trouble by making racist comments on air towards a woman's basketball team. Now I'm not accusing Brooks of being a misogynistic racist, he's probably a decent guy, but he is on the radio... I'm just saying.
  14. Have you seen any Omaha or Lincoln papers print something like this? Honestly curious, I haven't. you can always count on a couple from Sam McKewon Don't think that what he writes for is actually a paper. It's just a site that basically tries to portray itself as one.
  15. Sorry to tell you but we've had bigger games against lowly kU over the past few years than we've had with you. That looks like a trend that will continue doesn't it? Go on about how we we're just a bad team in a weak division, we'll remind you that you conveniently forgot your team is worse. Why don't you go ahead and tell us we are all living in the past, we'll just come back and tell you "at least we have one." Nebraska isn't the powerhouse it was a decade ago right now. Good job spotting that one. Pointing out we've been down in the last decade doesn't change anything for us... we already knew. If anything it just cheapens your victories. There isn't a single moment in Mizzou football history we envy. Feel free to go over to the KU boards and make with the "we'll have bragging rights forever" posts then. Cause with us, you don't and never will.
  16. If Nebraska loses, its the same as if we win, long term it just one game. I mean sure there's "bragging rights" for all of about a week for either team and right now it looks like its for the north... but do you think "we beat mizzou in the last game with them" is gonna impress Wisconsin or Ohio State next year? The game will be forgotten win or lose until we end up in a bowl together then dredged up by some media production to try and hype that match-up. I know Mizzou fans like to try and pull the "what have you done for us lately" in the trash talk surrounding this game. It's all you got. The funny thing is it all applies to your crappy team too, how many big 12 titles are those ginormous football trophy rooms sporting down in Mizzou? The history in the series pretty one sided overall, especially when you consider that whole 24 game win streak for NU from the late 70s to the 2000s. So better get that gloating in next week if you do win. Cause next year you lose your most hyped game and become nothing to us but a footnote in the record-books.
  17. Yeah I was watching it wishing they'd put the guy in the booth in martin's path on a return. They guy is running (jogging?) down the field watching the play. He just wasn't looking around to be aware of the situation and got caught off-guard. That's his own fault. It wasn't an illegal block. Just like hockey players and boxers, you gotta protect yourself at all times. It is supposed to be a contact sport afterall. He wasn't doing that and got blasted.
  18. He wasn't alone, more then a few "tackles" were missed when they'd just not wrap someone up. He definitely had the most obviously glaring example of that. It's like the entire team gets a big win and then forgets to do the little things... Like tackle, catch, and hold onto the ball next week.
  19. Wouldn't put it all on youth. Don't have to worry about having a QB beat anyone with their arm if the receivers cant catch anyways. They could have stuck 9 or 10 in the box, because you didn't need to cover on anything deep today. Receivers were just plain awful. We got a lot of bad calls as expected, but catch the ball and we still run away with it. Coaching wasn't great either. The onside was just a dumb decision. No idea where that came from. Too much time spent around Les Miles or something. Just sickeningly poor performance.
  20. The big 10 already did go calling, and Texas gave them a list of demands and told them they had to bring the other Texas schools with them. These Texas clowns can spin it any way they want. 5-10 years down the line when some other conference is dealing with Texas and the big 12 south tag alongs running their league (I'm looking at you pac-10) we'll simply nod and think "man am I glad we don't have to deal with that mess anymore." all those clowns writing for the Texas rags... that are as objective and delusional as Saddam Husein's propaganda minister... Well they'll still be trying to explain how their stuff doesn't stink, even when they are neck deep in it.
  21. It's missing a way for users to select their own themes. Is there any way for users to select their own themes? No offense to people that like the new color scheme, but I definitely prefered plain and simple white without the distracting red background. Was just easier to look at.
  22. If they don't televise K-state and Texas every year Texas is ranked it'd be a shame, K-state just pulls it out on them all the time in pretty exciting games. They've had Texas's number like the longhorn's have had ours. Same conference or not, I'll always take joy in watching Texas lose so hopefully you are wrong on that little point. As far as Kstate and NU, don't really care how they feel about NU. Their program's "storied"? history was made on a couple of wins against us. We've moved on, they are gonna have the same uphill battle, just against the big 12 south.
  23. I was thinking about that. He's so difficult to read. Is he the kind of guy that stays through a senior year, or ducks out for the NFL? He'll have to show a lot more throwing, especially in his motion to be someone the NFL even looks at as a QB... especially early. Could happen, but it's way way too early to make any sort of judgment on that. A lot of things can happen between now and then. Rather then worry about that, I just hope he can remain consistent throughout the rest of this season and the offense keeps getting better.
  24. Don't forget having the strings to the conference's lead puppet. Or the friendly Dallas based big 12 officials. Those don't hurt either.
