  1. Here's the original article: http://nebraska.statepaper.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2010/01/17/4b53d3819acdf Pretty amazing that website rips it off, gives it a new title, and doesn't credit the actual author. Plagiarism is bad.
  2. I don't think you can go into a season with NC expectations. So much has to happen in a season to even get there. I think if we have an offense and the D does actually improves like the pelini's think it will its not outside the realm of possibility to get to the game assuming we win the big 12, but that'd be icing on the cake. Cant have any more ISU games though. Mentally I don't think the team is there yet. The defense was this season or close, but nobody feared anyone on our offense. We didn't punish anyone on that side of the ball save for Arizona and the sunbelt. It's gonna take some mean (but disciplined) line play and play makers that will punish defenses for 4 quarters to with a chip on their shoulder to get back to the point where you can go into a season with MNC game expectations. However winning the big 12 is my "expectation" but by expectation I mean that's what I am hopeful for, not counting on by any means. That and a decent offense to match the defensive effort. Hopefully they can ride the bowl momentum and the changes I hear that are going in right now to a much better performance next season. Win or lose though, its so much more fun to watch Nebraska then it was 2-6 years ago... So as long as that continues to be the case I'm content. Now can we just fast-forward to summer and only 2 months of warm fun to go before the season?
  3. Next coach at USC is going to spend a lot of time cleaning up the mess carroll made. And no, hes not even going to be in the conversation.
  4. Thats pretty cool. Sort of off topic but actually Google rides a very slippery slope ethically to do business there too. Enough to be a case study in ethics courses. Lots of large cooperations will do whatever the communist government says because its such a huge and growing market.
  5. I just cant buy that we don't have talent on offense enough to actually score touchdowns. We may not have talent enough to make a game long offensive highlight reel, but ultimately I think the blame falls squarely on the coordinator and coaches.
  6. That's exactly the Texas arrogance. You illustrated peoples points here better then anyone else on this thread did. See the stuff about the conference being set up again. It was Nebraska against everyone we were rolling at the time + Texas voting against us for things like prop 48. That and osborne's departure definitely started the downward spiral that Callahan eventually sped up. The bigger schools together on the TV contracts hell we were probably part of that, I think the bigger issue there is that our conference sucks at getting good deals for TV and Bowl wise compared to other major conferences. Fyi, my longhorn friend, I saw every NU game on T.V. this year. Only watched 1- 1/2 Texas games though (they didn't look like the number 2 team in the nation in either). Funny how that works when you don't care about the team playing.
  7. Hell, half the time it doesn't even go to the best offensive skill position player.
  8. God i hope not. Texas arrogance needs to be taken down a few pegs. The SEC arrogance needs to be brought down more IMO. Rather we take care of the Texas arrogance in conference.
  9. I think it should be considered. It's a matter of time before Texas corruption kills this conference like it did the SW conference.
  10. Winning will have to happen to keep it going. It's definitely been the national media's feel good story of the week though. The D-Lineman who crashed the pretty boy offense players party in New York for the first time in something like 25 years. Great for Suh, great for NU though, no doubt. He's made the state and university very proud.
  11. It's not even lateral at this point, FSU is in the process of bottoming out.
  12. How lucky do you think Saban feels to have dodged that bullet? 2 years in a row hes had to scrap at least part of his offense because it wasn't working midseason. It worked the first time because he had some pretty crafty seniors. We can't go from decent against most teams to absolutely abysmal every time a senior class leaves. It shouldn't take 4 years to run a college offense. This year nothing ever really clicked except in 4th quarter mizzou and against sunbelt opponent defenses. QB play has been abysmal. You'd think they'd gain some experience and get slightly better throughout the season at least. That didn't happen. That falls on Watson too. Ultimately I'd be relieved if he was let go and we got an offense that was actually geared towards college kids learning how to run it quickly and efficiently. Not 5th year seniors putting up decent numbers and then the offense dieing when they graduate.
  13. It's more likely that since he is a WR that likely could have come in and played next year and be the fastest guy on the field he was thinking 1) Nebraska has no quarterback who can actually pass to save their life how would I ever see the ball?
  14. Yeah, large problem with it. The fact of the matter is Nebraska can't put it in the hands of those guys because they haven't stepped up to consistently make plays. Personally I think its on the coaches and scheme at this point. It's not like Zac Lee is new on campus... He stares down his receivers, makes up his mind where he is going with the ball 95% of the time before the snap in the passing game, hesitates a lot before he decides to take off, and that's on the QB coach. Its not like the offense has done much of anything really this year outside of the sunbelt, and two years in a row we've had to pair it down to stuff that the players can actually run mid season and to minimize the chance of the offense costing us games. Its to the point that now it seems like we are running 5-10 plays or so? If your offensive system is complicated to the point that your players cant run it whats the point? Cant be very "multiple" if you cant teach the personnel you have to execute it before their senior years...
  15. You do realize he has a disease right? a pretty serious one in fact. One that treatment for often involves steroids. You try not gaining weight if you are taking steroids for an illness.
  16. I'm surprised they didn't do that with the Greatest Coach of All Time poll from a year or two back when nebraska and alabama fans were trying to out script each other with automatic voting programs. I seriously doubt that was the case this time, although I'm sure people have done multiple votes, Suh for Heisman has been on every message board I've been on in the past couple days, as well as facebook, and I'd assume email. It'd be easy to rack up a 30,000 thousand votes in a day.
  17. Not a very good idea. Doing stuff like streaming songs not only would up the bandwidth requirements for serving some sort of site drastically, but then you run into issues with copyright. Same problem you are going to run into with images. It's probably best to let the university worry about a campaign on stuff like this, and they supposedly had a policy about not promoting individuals for awards since its a team game. No website is going to get someone to vote for a Heisman candidate. Quite frankly Nebraska needs to keep winning and Suh needs to just keep playing consistently at a superman like level and have a late season nationally televised statement game or two to have the media take care of all this on its own. That said, he'll have his work cut out for him since Jesus is playing in the SEC still... but, I'd take notice of how there is no tebow4heisman.com (well there is tebowheisman.com, but its a parody blog). No legitimate contender needs a flashy web page to pretend they are in the running for the award. Eric Berry does.
  18. Just curious - is this a number you know or a number you're guessing at? _______________________________________________________________ Updated "standings" have TO in the lead 52% - 35%. Voting ends at Noon Eastern today (12/2/07). A guess. There'd be no way to know unless you worked for whoever does espn's website. (I don't)
  19. I assume you checked, so you know they have no such verification? I did not, I just took the word of a guy who posted here earlier... and I have no way of verifying. I'm fully willing to believe you, and if you are correct that only confirms what I've been saying all along - this "poll" is a joke. I used 10K - 50K as low-number examples because they're easier to type and grasp. I fully believe that there are millions of votes, if not tens of millions, simply because this is how many votes typically come in during these "polls." So assuming there are 50 million votes, not 50 thousand, that only lends further credence to the fact that it is improbable - nay, nigh on impossible - for there to have been a swing of no less than 15% in the past 36 hours, and it just about proves that ESPN has been screwing around with the percentages they display. My estimation puts the vote count at probably somewhere around or slightly under 20 million votes Today... with somewhere around 2 to 2.5 million votes going into yesterday's swing in the poll. Its been macro'd to hell and back for quite awhile. When Robinson went from like 3-6% it was because both Nebraska fans and bama fans (apparently) were using the same unconfigured browser macro.
  20. A) the macros don't work. ESPN takes ONE VOTE per ISP per day. So even if anyone was trying to cheat, it wouldn't work. B ) See my post directly above yours, Sparky. Whether you, I or the guy down the street wants to cheat is irrelevant - ESPN is screwing with the numbers on their own anyway. C) At the end of the day ESPN and some doofus poll doesn't determine who the "Best College Coach of ALL TIME" is - you and I and the rest of the real fans do. We all know that Bear Bryant and Tom Osborne are right up there in the top five, probably the top two. Who is #1 and who is #2? Who knows? Who cares? Anyone who follows college football and thinks that either is undeserving of the discussion is an idiot anyway. Much respect to 'Bama and 'Bama fans and Bear Bryant. I'm sure you feel the same about TO and Nebraska. D) Seriously - don't stress about this. If TO wins this, are you really going to respect Bear Bryant any less? If Bryant wins, I'm not going to love TO any less. The ESPN site has no such vote verification. If it did there would be absolutely no swing like there was when Bear took the lead or like there was for TO last night. Your estimation in the 50's of thousands of votes is not only WAY LOW, its off by an order of magnitude or two. The reason you don't see anything happening dumping 50-50000 votes in has nothing to do with the espn site. Fact is there are so many votes there that a small amount like that won't even move the scales let alone tip them at this point.
