  1. All of Whipple’s college career points to a balanced offense though. I went ahead detailed it below for you, the highest he got to was just under 56% for 2 years at UMass. Those years his teams averaged just over 40 passing attempts per game vs just over 32 rushing attempts per game, a far cry from being a pass first, along it all over the field type of play caller. His trend in the last 4 years since those 2 years is to average a few more passes per game than rushes. I also went and added his prior college stop to UMass, which was at Miami, yes the hated Canes. Whipple still ran a balanced offense there, but he actually leaned slightly more to the run calling a running play 51-52% of the time. Reality is that it may seem that NU will be pass happy under Whipple as Frost had been heavier on the run than pass (52.9%, 62.6%, 59.4%, and 57.5% run play percentages the last 4 seasons), but the reality is that the offense will most likely just become a bit more balanced under Whipple. Whipple Offense Ave Pass Attempts/Game % Pitt 2021 - 51.7% Pitt 2020 - 52.9% Pitt 2019 - 54.4% UMass 2018 - 50.9% UMass 2017 - 51.7% UMass 2016 - 53.6% UMass 2015 - 55.8% UMass 2014 - 55.9% Miami FL 2010 - 48.3% Miami FL 2009 - 47.8%
  2. New plan, leave early and tell Mom and Dad-in-law to have kegs and eggs ready!!!!!
  3. Sounds like you need a new family……
  4. I guess that is where you are getting disagreement on here. The data of Whipple’s career screams a balanced offense with a slight lean towards the pass. To me a pass first OC would be like Mike Leach or Tyson Helton who throws it 60-70% of the time. Last season Whipple threw it 51.7% of the time, even with a Heisman candidate QB and the nations best WR. That isn’t a hard core pass first offense IMO, rather that looks pretty balanced with a slight lean towards the pass because that was the team’s strength. Whipple hasn’t shown air-it-out tendencies from what I have seen of his teams and the data available, not sure why you are trying to push that narrative.
  5. Soooooooo anyone hear about when Blackshirts will get handed out this year?………….
  6. I have yet to see a single post on this board claiming Whipple is a run first coordinator. At most many have pointed out that Whipple is usually around 50-50 or 55-45 pass to run ratio; everyone gets that they will pass more, but most expect him to lean more towards a 50-50 spilt more so this season based on the team makeup.
  7. Yeah Minnesota is a rough look for B1G baseball in something like this, hard to hold it at Target Field without them though. Wish I could escape and fly out to Minny for this though.
  8. No we don’t, the OT’s didn’t grade out well, but on the interior they were a bit better. Everyone needs stop acting like there is zero talent in the OL room, recruiting rankings alone tell a vastly different story.
  9. Both players have a fair bit of starting experience. Hunter Anthony was the starter at RT for OSU until he got hurt. OSU had recruited pretty well and Hunter wasn’t able to re-win his spot back last season. Who knows what happens if he stays healthy as he lost a year of snaps, and he still got PT as a backup and in heavy sets this past season. He gets a new start with a new coach and another year of strength training, seems like he could be a good add at RT. Williams comes from UNC yes, but he started for a couple years there and had several D1 suitors so his tape must have been pretty good. We just had a WR from FCS who worked out pretty well, it isn’t unheard of that a FCS player coming up and being a good player. We weren’t the only D1 team in on him, we simply won out because NU is his home state school, but I would say that SF and CO weren’t the only ones who see potential in him.
  10. I don’t disagree that it would be nice to add another OL transfer, but I don’t get the doom and gloom perspective on the OL in general. They recruiting rankings of the players in the room are pretty high, indications are that the cupboard isn’t bare. Who knows if the issues they had at OT were because of coaching or if those guys should be interior players, but they have a new coach who will evaluate and won’t play favorites. There are also guys who have had 1-2 years in the strength program now who will get a shot as well. In addition they added a former Oklahoma State OT with a fair bit of starting experience and another OG/OT option with multiple years starting at the FCS level.
  11. They have brought in 2 OL though, why does everyone act they haven’t brought any OL in?
  12. Wait, T. Hildenbrand left the staff? I thought he was the heir apparent?
  13. Maybe Thomas comes back, but Daniel’s was on USC earlier this week and was clear he is going into the draft.
  14. This, Cam J. is a beast. There will be some serious crow being eaten after Cam is in the NFL succeeding. I have no idea what some fans have against him, he does things very very few Centers can do.
  15. I highly doubt the new Cam is better than Cam J.
  16. Agreed, what I see is steady improvement year over year at both schools. Both of those jobs were also full offensive rebuilds so starting low was expected, the amount of improvement he was able to make is impressive IMO. Nebraska doesn't need a rebuild on offense, it needs someone to take it from decent to good/great.
  17. Not sure if Harrell will work or not, but excuse me for pointing out that a sample size of 1 doesn’t indicate make you Nostradamus.
  18. Not sure what you disagree with about OU having a balanced running attack. They constantly have a 1,000 yard back and another with 400+ on top of QB yards. They run between the tackles and outside, it isn’t an option only scheme. In 2019 there too 2 RB’s went for 1,011 and for 515, plus 1,298 from Hurts. In 2018 their top 2 RB’s went for 1,056 and 947, plus 1,001 from Murray. In 2017 their top 3 backs went for 1,161, 744, and 542, plus 311 from Mayfield. Not sure how you get a more balanced rushing attack than that.
  19. Not sure what OU team you have been watching over the past 7 years, but Lincoln Riley has been adamant, and on record, about having a good running attack. Below are his rankings in rushing O at OU as both an OC and HC. The last two years were a drop off, last year due to COVID and personnel issues, and he has mentioned how the running attack this year has been an issue holding them back. Their best offensive years have been when they can run it well, he is on record stating as such. Not saying Harrell would do the same under SF, but it is possible to blend Air Raid with a dominant running attack. Rushing Ranks 2015 - 23rd (OC) 2016 - 18th (OC) 2017 - 27th (HC) 2018 - 11th (HC) 2019 - 14th (HC) 2020 - 49th (HC) 2021 - 54th (HC)
  20. Lincoln Riley is an Air Raid disciple. He has added a balanced running attack with option elements included while at OU under Stoops. No reason SF can’t have the same input on Harrell’s scheme at NU.
  21. Can you imagine how fired up JP would be on the sidelines?
