Then he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Pelini, though, says Morrow will be eligible to play immediately. So which is it? Nebraska media relations director Keith Mann said Morrow must sit as of now, but that Nebraska is hopeful of a possible NCAA waiver that will allow him to play this season. Morrow transferred from Eastern Michigan after beginning his career at Alabama, where he redshirted in 2009.

BTN2Go will feature a live, online simulcast of all BTN linear network programming, including more than 40 football games, over 100 men's basketball contests and hundreds of other events. Moreover, there will be extra football game channels for scheduling conflicts, on-demand programming and archived content, including contests that premiered on ABC and ESPN. BTN president Mark Silverman said BTN2Go will be offered exclusively through the network's participating cable, satellite and telco distribution partners as an authenticated digital service to customers who already receive BTN as part of their video subscription. Once their provider agrees to carry the service, BTN subscribers will be able to access BTN2Go on three platforms: the Internet, iPad and iPhone. Silverman said that Time Warner Cable, DirecTV and Dish Network have committed to launching BTN2Go on the aforementioned platforms. "All three will be ready to go with BTN2Go," he said, noting that other affiliates are also in the huddle for the multiplatform service. Game action aside, BTN2Go viewers also will gain on-demand access to BTN's video archive, including all current season games. Original series such as The Journey, Big Ten Icons, Big Ten's Best and The Big Ten's Greatest Games, as well as game highlights and coaches' shows, will be available.

It'll be whatever you had last year. If you have 120+ or better, you'll get a single BTN channel, which means you'll get the feature game only. Pay $7/month extra for the sports package and you'll get all the games they broadcast, which is just about every Big 10 game not on ESPN/ABC, or NBC at Notre Dame. Or in our case, Versus for the Wyoming game. Also with that sports package you get NFL RedZone (very cool) and all of the Fox Sports and Comcast regional networks, which basically means seeing a Big 12 game on Fox Midwest/Southwest and a late night Pac 12 game on Fox West or whatever it's called. That's the way I understand it anyway. Get the sports package. You'll spend less for that for the entire fall and see just about every Husker game than you did for a single PPV game last year. Wasn't clear what you were trying to say, but Versus is not in the sports package, you must be in the "Top 250" package to get it. You can change packages for a day or two with Dish and just pay prorated fees, plus a $5 downgrade when you switch back.

Deal is in place, Husker football will be on the BTN

There is a known glitch with named rosters now that will be patched. When rosters are named player tendencies flip, so name Taylor Martinez or Dennard Robinson and they become balanced QB's and never take off when the CPU controls them. The balanced QB's become runners, and take off too much. EA's only solution is to delete rosters and then re-do them after the patch, ouch.

You are very wrong, BTN has the rights to broadcast Husker games and will probably have 2 or 3 this year. Any provider that has the BTN will show any Husker games that air on the BTN, that would be like saying when CBS adds a new show to an existing channel that the providers have to pay for that show, when the contract is up the BTN can ask for more money, but if they're under contract, the games will be shown.

Why blame the Big Ten for TimeWarner's greed? Or phrased differently, why blame the Big Ten for TimeWarner treating Nebraska different than they treat any other Big Ten market? There isn't a single Big Ten market where the BTN is not on a basic tier - except, for the moment, Nebraska. Who's to blame for that? Not the Big Ten. EDIT - Chris, do you get cable through TimeWarner? You are assuming that BTN is asking for the same deal as they did in the other areas, that deal was signed 3 years ago. I would imagine the BTN network is now asking for more per sub than before, estimates i've seen said the original deals were $.90 per sub before, they are now asking for closer to $1.15 per sub. It wouldn't shock me if the Big Ten Network was trying to hold Time Warner hostage for higher fees across the entire base of subscribers rather than just allow them to add Nebraska. This would be a million dollar plus per month hit on Time Warner's bottom line, possibly even far more depending on what the BTN is really asking for.

This is just plain false, but it gets said constantly. The money from scholarships is easily enough to get by. I know this since I'm doing it right now. On the other hand, I don't feel the need to buy multiple pairs of $150 shoes or fancy cars. Perhaps that's considered a basic need if you're a football player. You're saying you're on a Division 1, full ride athletic scholarship? And, I don't see how his statement is plain false.. I know most players physically aren't allowed to get a job due to the coaches being concerned over it interfering and causing way too many problems. I'm not saying that it's not hard for them to get a job. There was no need for me to comment on that part because I said in the original post that I'm getting by on financial aid. I don't have a job. I'm saying the broke part is not true. People have strange definitions of broke and scraping by, though. I can afford cable and internet, go out to eat on occasion, buy movies/games sometimes, and I'm fine. But that's about the extent of "sh*t I don't need" that I buy. I don't see how it's relevant what type of scholarships I have. What I get is the same or possibly less than what a player gets, because like you just said, they have a "full ride." But someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I am, however, a lot older than 18, and I'm sure at 18 I would have run out of money faster. So I will give them that, but I still don't consider it an excuse for taking money/gifts or whatever. You're obviously not in the same position as these players. A full ride scholarship covers tuition, room/board etc, but there is no stipend. They don't get a check every week that they can deposit into their bank account and then spend on movies, games, they certainly can't pay monthly utilities. The players who can do those things may have been able to get a job on campus or something that the NCAA allows, or they may get some allowance from home. Scholarship money alone would not give them any spending cash though. If you're getting financial aid that is giving you extra spending money, I can only assume you have a stipend in addition to having tuition/room/board/books covered. I've also met some students who received a regents scholarship and then applied for multiple scholarships/grants outside of the university, so they have extra "scholarship" money that becomes spending money since they don't need it to pay for school. I highly doubt that student-athletes are afforded the luxury of applying for scholarships beyond their University athletic scholarship. They might be allowed to fill out a FAFSA and take on federal student loans, but that's very different than scholarship money. They can get federal need based money, they DO get a housing allowance equal to what it would cost to live in the dorms, they take that then 2-3 players get an apartment together and use the leftover cash for utilities and other things. They get tuition, books, housing, meals, clothing, access to medical care, tutoring and world class workout facilities. Excuse me as I shed a tear for these poor student athletes, especially considering a lot of them would be stuck at home working at McDonalds or Wal-Mart if it weren't for the opportunity that the NCAA gives them.

Not really, Directv's cheapest package with the BTN is $61 per month, Dish's basic package is $50 per month + $7 for the sports pack, $57 total, or $4 cheaper than DTV. Next step up is $66 for DTV and $67 for Dish. Plus with the Dish sports pack you would get more games than you would with basic Directv. I understand people are frustrated that they have to add the sports pack, but Directv is more expensive than Dish anyway.

I switched from directv to dish a couple years ago. Directv wouldn't upgrade me to HD without a really large fee, so I switched. Dish can control multiple tvs from a box, which directv couldn't do but I've heard that they can now. When Directv had the TiVo brand box, their DVR was the best, but after the TiVo deal ran out, Dish had better DVR's. Having said all that, the two are pretty close to each other. Directv has a few more channels in their standard packages, but that also makes them more expensive. I'd call each of them and see what they'll offer you. You can't really go wrong with either, and they are both MUCH better than cable. EDIT: I just checked Directv's site and they have some really good deals right now (like free HD). Directv does have their multi room viewing option, but it's different than Dish Network's multiple tuner DVR's. Both have their ups and downs at this point, Dish can't output HD to the 2nd room yet, and Direct has some streaming limits. Both companies are coming out with new whole house DVR's that have a centralized DVR with multiple tuners, Directv is field testing their new HR-34 DVR that has 5 tuners and then has devices that get the signal from the main box to your TV. Dish Network has a similar product called the XIP 813 coming out that has 3 central tuners, then additional boxes at each TV. Dish's boxes at each TV will have a OTA tuner built in that works with the DVR also for locals over antenna.

Directv has a scheduling app but not one that you can watch shows. The Slingbox allows you to watch tv from your laptop or smartphone and works with any tv provider, as far as I know. Actually, Dish Network is teaming up with Slingmedia (who makes the Slingbox) to provide the mobile tv viewing. Dish owns Sling Media now.

If you get the sports pack from Dish, they put up alternates on Saturday's of the Big Ten games so you will see them all. They also put up the other regional sports feed so you can see the Pac-10 games or others. Basically what is happening is the Big Ten network is going back and asking for more money for Dish for every person in Nebraska now. Currently every Dish sub that gets the Big Ten in region costs $.70 per month for Dish If they turn it on for Nebraska, they will then lose probably $250K a month, unless around 2,500 people drop Dish over this (not factoring in the ones they can convince to pay the $7 per month), Dish has no reason financially to do it. Directv has more sports, but is also more expensive than Dish.

His point about game days is wrong, nothing insults a prospect more than bringing them in to play a garbage school. Kids want to see you play Ohio St, Texas, Missouri, Iowa and schools like that, not UT Chattanooga and South Dakota State. That philosophy last year netted the 15th best class in the country according to Rivals and the 10th best in terms of star average. You invite fringe prospects that you want to wait on to the early games so they get a visit, but not so that they take up valuable slots for the games that matter. It's not like the rest of the BIg Ten is running away from us, Iowa has 3, Purdue as 2, Indiana and Illinois 4, Wisconsin 5, MSU 6, Minnesota 7, NW PSU and tOSU 8, and Michigan 12. The targets we have now are waiting to commit at this point, after Nebraska has been burned with early commits over the past few years (T. Gabbert, Sloan, T. Mitchel, K. Terry, Bouzos, Admire). Last year at this time we had 9 on board, 3 of those ended up somewhere else. In 2009 at this time I think we had 5 at this point, and at least 2 of them split. I think the staff is making sure kids are very solid with such a small class.

Not true at all. As long as the parent has been a longstanding employee of a university, the child is free to play sports and receive the reduced tuition costs. Longstanding equals 5 years, so in Barney's 6th year, starting in 2013 I think we could technically flip Jake and Sam over to walk-ons assuming Barney is still here. Obviously Ben will have graduated by then.

They don't go to the general public until July 11th, doubt there are any left by then.
