  1. Suh is an absolute filthy animal at DT, but I agree with him to an extent. I was shocked that he was All Pro as a rookie. For being in Detroit, he received an awful lot of coverage. Most DT's in the game go almost completely unnoticed because of what they are asked to do scheme-wise. If this is Suh's base, NFL Offensive Linemen have to get cold sweats about how good he could be in 3-4 years.
  2. The bad press just continues to pile up at Iowa. Eventually enough is going to be enough and Ferentz will be let go. From the outside, he certainly emits a "win at all costs" type mentality that the program appears to be built on.
  3. Never really listened to Rome much. Cowherd can sometimes hit the nail on the head and make a point others are too scared or stupid to make. Other times he is insulting to callers, to listeners, and whoever will listen to his egomaniacal rants. I won't necessarily miss him, but not sure about Rome really.
  4. I think that's a double negative.....so I'll say no??? Yea - huge loss, but hey - what can I say? I'm nuts. Hagg and Gomes may not be THAT big of a loss next season. Sounds crazy, but humor me. These 2 guys were versatile do-everything players that did a lot out of the nickel and dime positions that the Huskers could have them on the field pretty much full time. Against a good portion of the Big 10, the approach used against the Big 12 will not be as effective. I look for Bo to play a lot more base, with 3 true LB's on the field (David, Compton, Fisher), with Dennard locking down one side, Osbourne and Cassidy patrolling the middle, and Ciante growing into a star on the other side. There should be no shortage of youngsters looking to crack the field and show what they can do as well. Pelini has shown the ability to adjust his defense to his personnel. What the big question mark is what the offense does from here on out. If Martinez learns from this year and grows as a leader, he could turn into something special. Forgive me but Hagg is a HUGE loss! People really downplay the importance he had on this team. Remember that Marvin Sanders said he would pick Hagg first if there was a some sort of a player draft. Hagg was very important...LAST YEAR. My point was that I believe there will be an adjustment in the defense and that Hagg will not be missed as much as some think right now. Hagg was tremendous this year and last and his versatility and headiness helped mask some weaknesses on the defense.
  5. I personally think Hagg is the biggest loss for next year after Alex. Bigger than Prince. He easily could have slid down to OLB if we ran more of a base defense. Eric would have been a perfect OLB in McBride's system. Best tackler on the team, and a hell of a cover guy. As far as 3 LBs in a game next year, maybe 50% of the conference season if that. Michgan, Northwestern, Minnesota, Penn St, and Ohio St(a lot of the time) all run the spread. Add in Illinois, Purdue and Indiana and you'll find that all these teams last year ran some kind of variable of a spread offense more often than people think. Wisconsin Michigan St. and Iowa are the truest teams that line up in power sets. But will spread it out in a heartbeat. It is just they were most successful going right at people. We will see more Peso than people are thinking. Brady Hoke runs a pro style system. Penn St's offense is much of a mystery the same as NU's, maybe not quite as bad. Minnesota has a new coach in Jerry Kill and he ran a strong ground game offense (7th in the nation last year). Peso may be used, but Pelini will lean on his most experienced personnel most likely, which are the LB's. I wouldn't be surprised if David is asked to fill the "peso" role next year due to versatility and athleticism. We'll see, I see a lot more 2 back, TE sets that the Huskers will face in several years.

  7. Didn't see your poll published anywhere. Real easy to say after the fact.
  8. The comparisons latently based upon race are frustrating and stupid. I have heard Rex being compared to Toby Gerhart, which is completely ridiculous as well. Woodhead is his own breed, as NewEarth pointed out, he more closely resembles Cory Ross than any other recent back based upon production, versatility and size. If the poster was making the point that Woodhead would have been as versatile at NU as Rex is, then I think he may be on to something. Otherwise, hard to ignore the connection that was made.
  9. I'd like Taylor to be the guy because he has shown he can do it when he believes. He needs to work on his leadership skills. If he is going to be the guy, he has to be held accountable as a leader of the team. I am not ready to give up on him, but he has some work to do, which is to be expected of a freshman.
  10. No doubt about it, Swift, Peterson and Purify was probably the most productive WR trio in Big Red History. Guys caught everything thrown at them and could move the chains.
  11. Chris Ault is 64, not gonna happen. He does have revolutionary offensive ideas. He designed the pistol that almost everyone uses now. Wittingham is an interesting name, and could be an up and comer now that Utah is moving to a major conference. Hoke is going to be on everyone's list shortly. Great coach. Why not the mad pirate for head coach? This is all theoretical, right? He would absolutely SHRED Big 10 defenses.
  12. I would take Les Miles any day of the week if Pelini wasn't here already. Can't see how they could hate the guy with how many games they win a season, especially in the SEC. Just the nature of LSU fans. They hate their coach regardless, pretty much. They forget pretty quickly that before Saban came down that they were a perennial 7-5/8-4 team for many years. With the amount of talent they accumulate at LSU, there is no way they should be losing games because of clock management. Pathetic.
  13. My neighbor is from Monroe, LA and is a huge LSU fan. When Nebraska got Pelini, he said "good, you can have his sorry ass." Now, he thinks a little differently of him. Hates Les Miles too. Hard to not hate Les Miles if you are an LSU fan, I imagine.
  14. I think it is fairly obvious that Gilmore does not know his ass from his elbow, so what he said is not surprising.
  15. 2007 was 3 years ago. My, what short memories some folks have.
  16. This is hilarious. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Someone posts a picture of Erin Andrews saying how hot she is. Turd in punch bowl comes in and says she is not that hot. Others attack TIPB for being retarded. Thread spirals out of control and ends up in the woodshed or BS forum. Should I just lock this now.
  17. How the hell is this kid still not prepared to make it to college? Absolutely pitiful.
  18. Let me go on record saying that Rickey Thenarse won't have even one pass break up or interception or tackle against the Huskies. I would bet any amount of money on it. And give odds. Yeah I agree it will be awfully hard for Rickey to get on the field considering he will be watching the game from his living room in Lincoln. At least he won't have any missed tackles though...
  19. That sounds like an awesome calendar. Pre-1960 Husker stuff is really cool and often forgotten about.
  20. Got a football signed by the entire 2009 football team and coaching staff for Christmas. Talk about an awesome surprise! Hope Christmas treated everyone well, just thought I would share because most here would appreciate a gift like that.
  21. If Crick is back, and David stays then this is awesome. Dennard will have a great PR road show next year similar to Prince had this year and really get his name out there. I pray he stays injury free and that he can make the most of his opportunity.
  22. If I were in SoCal, I would make the trip. Good excuse to go to San Diego, but if you went out to San Diego last year, and went to Seattle earlier this year, it's hard to justify another trip to see a team you already saw 3 months ago at a location you went to last year. It's an unfortunate situation. If Washington State took care of business, the Huskers might be playing Notre Dame or Boise St. Those would both be stellar matchups.
  23. Ok, so is there any real chatter about Watson being a legit candidate for this job?
