  1. The only thing i want to see in this game besides a win is to actually field a punt.
  2. The worst passing defense in the NCAA from a year ago with the same secondary and a worse defensive line isn't going to translate into improved defense. Nebraska is a mediocre football team, the same as they were last year. Not sure why anyone expected this year to be any different.
  3. Looking at the 2015 schedule, I figured 9-10 wins was a given as it was a cake walk. Road: The 4 Big 10 road games were @Illinois, @MINN, @Purdue, and @Rutgers. If you would have told me we would go 2-2 in those games I would think you were crazy. 2016 is @NW, @Indiana, @Wisc, @OSU, and @Iowa. I'd say the only 1 we for sure should win would be Indiana. Until they can consistently beat NW, not sure how we can just chalk that one up. I could easily see NU go 1-4 on the road. I think best case is 3-2, no way they beat OSU on the road. Home: No way NU isn't 2-0 out of the gate but I don't see how they slow down Oregon. The rest of the home games should be wins. I don't see them dropping any to Illinois, Purdue, Minn, or Maryland at home. I think realistically based on last year, they go 7-5 or 8-4. I just think this year's schedule is much harder than last year where we finished sub .500. I knew with the new staff there would be growing pains but I don't think anyone thought 5-7 would happen with who they lost to and the schedule.
  4. With such an easy schedule setup in 2015 and finishing the year 6-7, not sure how NU finishes 2016 without a record similar without drastic improvement this year. This year's schedule is rough IMO. Hoping for the best, but I don't see 2016 being that much different than 2015.
  5. But why didn't we see these up and coming talent play this year? Cav selected his guys to start and stood by them the entire year. The only change he did make was put Sterup at guard at the end of the year. And that worked out pretty well didn't it. Another off season in the weightroom and a little more coaching and they will be ready to take over. Isn't he gone though? Also...what are they going to do differently in the weight room? Continue to get stronger and work on their bodies so they are not tubs of goo like the last S&C staff put out. I gotta ask... The last staff had horrible coaches (correct) They had horrible players (Correct) And they were tubs of goo (Correct) How did they win games? Great post, not sure how nobody realizes this. Let's give some credit where credit is due, not any warm body can win nine games at Nebraska. But it takes a special kind of bad to lose 7 games in the B10 West. Like Illinois and Purdue bad. And we lost to both of those teams. Someone please look at the 2016 schedule and tell me how we don't lose at least 5 games best case.
  6. If NU happens to score.... does MSU actually run the ball to milk the clock or do they just throw it to close it out.
  7. Recruits families are watching and listening, some are even on this board, but continue tearing down the program you love. If a recruit's family is influencing their child's next 4 - 5 years based on anonymous message board posting, then I question the parental guidance being provided to their child. You know what impacts recruiting, getting your doors blown off by 1-6 Purdue. Wait until Michigan State comes in and embarrasses this squad in Memorial on national television. But you are right, anonymous message board posting is way a bigger determent to the program than losing 9 games this season and missing a bowl. Thanks for sage advice Soup.
  8. That's quite a culture change from previous regime. ^ Agree. We'll get there -- at least, we won't suffer a program we can't be proud of in the meantime. Would anyone trade this season for another typical 9-win season under Bo? I suspect many would. I don't see what's all that special about being unranked that makes us Nebraska fans accept that amount of boorishness and lack of class for the guy representing the university, and placed in charge of its student-athletes. Between the talent and the mentality Bo left in place, I believe a brick-by-brick rebuild is right. Talent wise, no -- even better management and recruiting isn't going to dramatically transform the raw talent blueprint. Mentality wise, the thing more crucial and defining for a team's performance, absolutely and totally. "I think we have kids in our program that are capable of winning championships." Shawn Eichorst, November 30, 2014. Even Eichorst is calling bulls*** on you (and himself) as of last year. Why you continue to defend him appears to be some sort of demented Stockholm Syndrome, it appears. There probably are a couple of kids in our program that are capable of winning championships. Unfortunately there are only about 5, when you need about 40 or 50. But why did nobody say this when MR was hired? All we heard was that MR would improve and win championships. Nothing was said about suffering through a losing season or rebuilding. Because nobody wants to admit that a lot of folks were wrong about Bo and that he was a better coach than we thought. Many, including myself, thought just about anyone could win 9 games playing in this turd of conference division. Apparently that was not the case so the only way for someone explain what this season has morphed into is to create a narrative that the cupboard is completely bare and void of all talent. That 1-6 Purdue is superior and this is all Bo's fault. I'll admit I was wrong about Bo as a coach. Still happy he isn't here, but man did we swing and miss with Riley.
  9. Just curious. Where exactly are you seeing accountability? The fact that the team actually had to show up for off season workout was the first proof. The fact that there have been numerous suspensions for team rules this year is another indicator. The fact that guys are showing up for "volunteer" workouts (only 50 showed up, but it was mentioned it was the most in years) is another. Get back to us when the players start showing up for the games. I don't care about the above three you listed if with all this extra work equals Purdue putting up a silver dollar on the "black" shirts..
  10. Ah the age old debate, if a terrible Nebraska plays Rutgers at 2:30, and nobody is around to see it, does the game really happen.
  11. I'd say based on what we know now, insert any high school or college football quarterback in America against the Nebraska defense, and he or she would light up the Nebraska defense and IF needed, throw a game winning hail mary pass. Hell I think about 50% of the poster on this board could probably manage a TD drive or two against the defense.
  12. We need the reverse QB boneyard thread where we honor all the QBs this defense makes look like Peyton Manning.
  13. I learned that Minnesota is worst team in the big 10. Also that fans need not worry about which bowl Nebraska will be selected for.
  14. Realistically speaking, like or not, Riley is going to be here another 3 years unless we don't win another game this year. Taking a knee would have have been a better play call then trying to throw it on third down there. Hell even if they would have picked it up, it would have been a terrible call. That's the kind of crap I do on Madden because I'm dicking around. I'd expect someone with 30+ years making millions of dollars to coach to have better judgement than that. Even if that was a bootleg run with no option to pass (which it wasn't), wouldn't you tell Armstrong if you throw this ball you will never set foot on the field again? it doesn't make any sense. It's almost like this year we are paying for all the ridiculous, no business winning the game comebacks we have had the past 6 years. I'm waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out of a Riley press conference and tell us all we are getting punk'd.
