  1. We cannot know a thing until we see what his max bench, squat, and power clean/hang clean are. We also could use his 40 time and his vertical leap (not his recruiting one...but the one he has now).Actually, we would need to see a needle biopsy series to know, otherwise, it's just different forms of guessing. Just like you said, when you workout one muscle type the other atrophies. I did not say that, nor is it true. It's medically impossible to change fast and slow twitch fibers into each other. True, but IIa fibers will tend to change their characteristics towards the type of stimulus they are accustomed to. There are NO studies in the history of medicine correlating poor power performance with conditioning both muscle types. This sentence displays a lack of understanding of the cell type and physiology involved.
  2. You can not agree with him all you want but the numbers don't back you up....that makes you wrong. Numbers require interpretation. If there was an completely objective system of analysis, Huskerboard would be a very boring place. Lots of variables in this question and declaring yourself "right" or another person "wrong" reflects poorly on the accuser... I'll take TA over TM.
  3. You can say it as much as you want and I still won't agree with you.
  4. I don't see that he's running any different this year than last year. He doesn't seem to have the power to be a power back, nor the speed/agility to be a speed back. He does have a big frame and surprisingly good balance though so perhaps he can develop his own style/niche. He would certainly be a "man among boys" in H.S. due to his obvious early physical maturation, but once in college, and others are just as physically mature, the genuine talent shines a little bit differently. Coming in that physically developed/mature as a freshman means that he has less growth potential throughout college. I love the guy's work ethic and hope he does well but I wouldn't put any money on him breaking through.
  5. Did hear the things he said during his presser. Telling the media things the coaches didn't want them know, as well as saying he thought there would a QB rotation. He threw the coaches under the bus. TM said this?
  6. Reading between the lines, this statement is huge.
  7. Muscle fiber type. An athlete that can do 200 push ups, or 40 pull ups, doesn't likely have the fiber types necessary (Fast Twitch, Type 11b) to be explosive. They would probably have a higher percentage of Type 1 Slow Twitch fibers to be able to produce a long muscular endurance effort. Similar to the idea that if you have all of your potential RB's run a max effort 1 mile test, your best players will likely finish last (assuming generally equal conditioning and athleticism). Those with Fast Titch fibers will fatigue quickly and finish slowly. Those fast twitch fibers are terrible for prolonged efforts, but essential for short, explosive bursts of power. It's not that Imani isn't strong, he obviously is, but I question whether he has the ability to produce contractions as quickly as an athlete with more "fast twitch" muscle fiber profiles.
  8. The "40 pull-ups" stat that seems to be promoted as a reason that he should be a great player is actually the biggest indication that he'll never be great IMO. He does have incredible balance though. I'm very impressed by that aspect of his running.
  9. Throw fumbles in the stat lines and TA freshman vs.TM freshman years and it won't look so rosy for Taylor.
  10. He's awkward in just about everything he does on the field and sideline. Not bad, hopefully a descent person, certainly tough, but awkward. I think that's why he gets so much negative attention.
  11. I think we all WANT a meritocracy, but not a mediocre meritocracy.
  12. Martinez will never again be the 100% unbelievable acceleration athlete that he was in his freshman year.
  13. I'm quite certain that cortizone injection has been tried. However, you can only perform a limited number of those injections in any tissue before it starts to break down the tissue and can leave the overall structure much weaker. Not having seen the imaging or heard of an official diagnosis, I wouldn't even attempt to comment much further. My primary concern in this situation is that he's had it before. That makes it much more likely that there is some damage to the joint that predisposes him to re-injury. I really hope that I'm wrong.
  14. This is a chronic problem with no real solution at this point. Not having ANY inside info, my guess is that he would be lucky to be at 75% for the rest of the year. The odds of him running effectively are, unfortunately, very slim.
  15. Ugh... Between Optimum, EspnU, and the Husker defense, I'm at the end of my wits right now. Can't seem to get the dumb app to work, keeps sending an error message. In Husker football viewing purgatory...
  16. Your D sounds like the opposite of ours. Our front 7 can barely drive and all of the experience is in the secondary.
  17. We were Penn State's first game after news broke of that tragedy. Now we're the first game for UCLA after this... I wouldn't be surprised if Ron Brown plays a significant role in helping both teams deal with this on Saturday.
  18. Probably. lol! I was an 18-19 year old kid with more competitive fire than wisdom. Thankfully nobody gave a damn what I had to say so I was never (to my knowledge) critiqued on an internet message board. So it sort of worked out I guess...
  19. They pretty much claimed that he really struggled in being so far away from home/family. As I read it, THAT was the primary reason given for his unhappiness ALONG with playing time. I guess I just read it differently.
  20. I transferred after 1 year of college to another school. It was just a better fit for me, and my goals. It turned out to be a great decision, both athletically and academically. I guess I'm a wimp too...
