  1. I'm certainly glad that the program is less focused on the 1990's than the fan base seems to be. "You're only as good as your next game."
  2. A fan base stuck in the past and obsessively comparing the current teams to the past does have a major impact on the perception of a program.
  3. ... reading comprehension... Evidently my analogy hit a bit close to home. My appologies.
  4. There's nothing self loathing about it. Acknowledging and being proud of the past is one thing, but to bring it up whenever possible in order to attempt to inflate one's current status is quite sad. We WERE great, we ARE good. Don't be the 45 year old obese guy who has to tell the story of high school football every possible opportunity. Just don't. If it was really worth remembering, you don't have to continually remind people...
  5. Time to move on. Clinging to the past, at some point, becomes quite pathetic.
  6. This simple statement is more important than the rest of the post.
  7. POWER! Iowa is bound to be the new Colorado. Except that Colorado has geography working in their favor. Iowa, meh... Unfortunately, we also found a new Iowa State in Northwestern. I was hoping that we could avoid that.
  8. The announcers are claiming that Iowa and Nebraska are "similar programs"... They've lost all credibility in the first 2 minutes of the broadcast.
  9. High school highlight reels do not necessarily correlate to Div 1 college football success. Earn your spot, or don't, or quit... I hope the kid sticks it out. It will mean more after it's earned, rather than given.
  10. I agree Ronz. Wounded animals are ALWAYS the most dangerous.
  11. This was a PR move by cars.com, nothing more. They're leveraging a tragedy and trying to elevate their brand name. I could see if it was a company who was "morally obligated" to make this display (like a church or some other entity that brands itself as morally superior) but it's a stupid car selling site for crying out loud.
  12. WTF does that have to do with it. Very few people agree with your simpleton idea. Get over it. You do not own the moral high ground in this debate. You have simply self proclaimed yourself the moral authority and nobody else buys it. Go ahead and follow your own advice and pucker up.
  13. I think that they were trying to get more publicity by withdrawing their sponsorship publicly, than they would have by remaining a sponsor. I don't think this is "GOOD" any more than I think Nebraska should boycott the game. Try to remember who the guilt should follow and don't attack everyone in the Penn State nation with the same knee jerk reaction.
  14. Any husker fan that makes distasteful comments this weekend deserves to be treated VERY poorly. Woodshed poorly... If the shoe were on the other foot, I'd feel the exact same way.
  15. I feel bad for the school, the team, and the fan base of PSU along with the victims. The actions or in-actions of a select number of individuals has affected so many innocent people. There is a lot of collateral damage involved with this situation. Hopefully Nebraska, the fans and players, will represent themselves well in this awkward situation.
  16. This thread is awesome. LOL! I am still not sure if PD is serious or joking. Nobody can be that naieve can they?
  17. Austin; Why do you feel the need to say the same thing endlessly on numerous threads? We get your point but don't need to have threads ruined continually by beating the exact same dead horse. Move on... Your abrasive and aggressive style is getting old after you've been here only a week.
  18. HuskerBCS, did Taylor give you a wedgie? Steal your girlfriend? Pee in your cornflakes? Did Taylor make you cry? Those would at least be reasonable explanations for the drivel that you wrote...
  19. ...and if they weren't playing against teams with the resources, facilities, and prestige of what we have been playing, it doesn't mean what you want it to mean either... That knife cuts both ways.
  20. Yeah, I'd place my bet on tOSU, as much as I DON'T want to play them again.
  21. I DON'T want tOSU again. We have little to gain and a lot to lose. Wisconsin would be my choice by far for the CCG.
  22. I'd certainly hope that a Blackshirt was about far more than dirty tactics and attempts to intentionally injure the opposing team... Intensity is one thing, while playing dirty is quite another.
