  1. they were saying that alonzo whaley and kyler reed have been unblockable at times during practice because of their speed....
  2. his last visit is to the university of NIKE.....wouldn't surprise me if he ends up there
  3. He probably didn't practice well because he was hung over all the time. lol...probably...hell of a player though
  4. just a playmaker on D...quick as hell as a LB....damon benning was saying that he(farley) was one of those player that doesn't practice well at all but somehow the light switch comes on during game day....was going as far as saying that if his playing time was determine squarely on how he practiced then farley would have a hard time getting on the field....
  5. great news for you guys...very talented player...good luck next year
  6. No, you have the ability to get to that point, just not the work ethic to get to that point. For example -- Larry Bird. A slow white kid who could not jump and even had problems reading. He was not going to win a foot race, was not going to out jump anyone or do anything flashy on the court, but yet ended up being one of the greatest players in the history of the game. With Bird you could find him during the winter shooting jump shots. While most kids were inside during the Indiana winters, Bird was shoveling snow so he could get space to shoot a basketball. It's dedication like that which took a meager athlete and made him one of the greatest ever. It would be easy to say that Bird is the exception and not the rule. But Bird is one of the few who actually had the determination to knock down his mental barriers to overcome his lack of physical attributes. Not many have that and it still goes on with so many people when they say they cannot succeed like others. Your body is a science and a complex object that you just need to figure out. And like Bird, if you put in the time to train your body, it can accomplish things no one thought is possible. You are comparing apples and oranges now. I was a pretty good athlete in my day, and I worked my butt off to become good. I continue to be in good shape and can play a lot sports well when I have time. In this you are correct, if I worked my butt off in any of the sports I could play them well. My genetics however do limit my ceiling in any of those sports. I am 5' 5" tall, I am limited in how far I could take my career in many sports. I could not play D1 QB, LB, DL, OL, etc. nor could I play in the NBA. Larry Bird may have worked hard enough to overcome being a bit slow and uncoordinated, but he was also tall enough and was blessed with a frame that once molded by hard work allowed him to play in the NBA and become one of the best ever. Spud Webb and Mugsy Bogues are the only players I know of in recent history that are around my height and played a significant amount of time in the NBA. They were good players for a short while, not great. If Larry was as short as Spud Webb there is no way he is the player he became, hence a person's genetics plays a large part in what a person can ultimately do. right on...excellent point
  7. true that....i'm sure every recruits wants to surround himself with the best talent...what's funny is he (brown) made it sound like he's committing to a school with no talent....miami has some of the best young talent in the country...
  8. got beat out for 1st team all state by nu recruit thad randle
  9. give me a freakin' break....the kid's got more baggage than paris hilton...don't care if he's a ten star...can you say " I NEED ATTENTION"
  10. speed kills...you hit the nail on the head about moving people around on D to get more speed...S to LB, LB to DEs, DEs to DT and so on...that was how it was for nu in the mid-90s...size (especially at the LB and DE spot) didn't matter as long as you can run...after charlie mcbride retire, for some reason, we went away from that...the players they chose to play LB and DEs were alot bgger and slower
  11. kinda heard that they might be voting as to whether to have an early signing period or not...this would be good for college football...basketball have it why not football....how many times have we lost a recruit at the last minute?....i know there's alot of kids out there who knows EXACTLY where they want to go but will take another school along for the ride until the last minute just because they like the attention.....hopefully the early signing period would reduce this a little
  12. speed speed speed...BO has been to OU and LSU and have seen first hand what speed can do for you...
  13. another player that might surprise at LB is alonzo whaley....the coaches are really high on this guy
  14. good luck to him....he's gotta do what he think is goood for him....we'll be fine...this frees up another scholie
  15. they were always high on reed as a tight end/h-back....the move was made easier with the emergence of mcneill and dreu young plus the promise that ben cotton have shown....it's no secret that wants pelini wants to be faster and more athlethic on D....reed fits that mold as a LB
  16. he was a tight end/H-back....played alot of position in high school including LB....very very athlethic though, which is what we need at LB
  17. heard on the radio a few days ago that kyler reed had been moved to LB.....sounded like they (the coaches) liked him alot at LB...a fast, athlethic type LB is exactly what we need .....the guys on the radio were saying that he might see alot of playing time next year....more depth and athlethic at LB....
  18. don't think nu was ever in the picture....could care less where he goes
  19. GOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK gophers....what were they smoking? seriously, the guy own every record at nu for having the worst defense ever ( nearly every defensive categories)....time have passed him by....as far as hetzer transfering out, it's actually a good thing ....he was never really going to contribute anyway and most importanly it frees up a scholie....
  20. with heimuli gone, who is nu's next target at dt?...we really depth at dt..
  21. after he meets all the coaches and see the facilities i would think that we would have a pretty good shot at this guy... other schools that he's looking at are boise st and arizona ( not even close to nu in terms of tradition)...
  22. every time we play an athlethic team our lack of speed sticks out like a sore thumb...we have big slow wr that can't get separation...ganz playing like crap
  23. i like big wr as much as the next guy but we really need the smaller quicker and faster wr....most of nu's wr are real tall possession type wr...we need a guy that can take a short quick pass and have the ability to take it to the house
  24. see how fast derek brown looks?..we need more speed like that at the tailback spot..johnny mitchell looked awesome too
  25. one thing about suh that might sway him into coming back for his senior year is that education is important to him and his family...from what i heard, his parents are doctors so i don't think financially his family is in dire strait...on the other hand if he grades out well by nfl scouts then he might bypass his senior season
