  1. He doesn't have to work at the dealership on weekends? Darn it Remember this is OU you're talking about, all the players do the no worky for fat checky down there in the South.
  2. I may piss some off here, but I'm still of the mindset that you need a winning record to get to a bowl game. 6-6 record = no bowl game. They should stick with an 11 or 13 games played schedule to alleviate this. But we've all witnessed what has happened to college football over the last decade with 600 bowl games, conference championship games, games now played on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, it's now a ginormous money making machine for the networks and universities.
  3. The league is huge on measureables. I see 1 potential QB playing on Sundays in this conference, Freeman. Harrell may get a shot but all the QBs in this league run out of the shotgun formation the vast majority of the time except Freeman/Bradford QB. Imagine the look on the face of Daniels/McCoy/Harrel/Etc. when they get into an NFL camp and have to take the majority of snaps from under center. The point is moot anyways, don't the vast majority of NFL squads only have 2 QBs on their active rosters? I know the Broncos have been doing this for years, but I don't follow the NFL and haven't watched a regular game in a long time. It's very hard to make it to the NFL as a QB. Iowa State has the most QB's in the league right now! That Dan McCartney sure could develop NFL QBs up there in Ames.
  4. The rivalry is dead. It died 12 years ago. OU bent over for Texas and that's all she wrote. I know it's hard for older NU fans to take, but get over it. I have.
  5. Thought that was a pretty interesting fact. I use Google a lot and stumbled upon this. Glad it's making some money/help to keep the lights on and making it a free site.Huskerboard Value
  6. you have got to be freaking kidding me. didnt he go to OU because they said he would be a RB boy we could use him right now by the way this is yet another example of a RB playing LB. Those are the little tricks Stoops like to pull in the recruiting game. A vast majority of in the know members on HI knew Lewis would be a lb at OU. That's what pissed so many husker fans off. Hopefully Pelini learned some of these tricks from Stoops and Miles. They had to have rubbed off somewhat. The same thing can be said about C. Glenn. He was offered by Texas as a LB and declined because Cally sold him about playing RB being his Thunder and Lucky as Lightning. Well imagine C. Glenn redshirting for Texas or NU and playing LB during his time here.
  7. Sproles went to Olathe North HS. Ya, your right. But still pretty close to Wichita. Having said that, the state of Nebraska has been in an EXTREME drought over the past decade in producing skill position players. Since Crouch left. At least I can't think of any???????
  8. In my eyes, D. Evans is the last great back NU has had. Yes there have been good quality backs that have played since his time, but it has been thaaat long since NU has seen a truly game changing rb. Well one could argue E. Crouch. Plain and simple Evans was never the same player after his injury. Kind of like Z. Bowman. Ya Evans may have been a prima donna, but no doubt he had the talent to play at the next level for a long time. It's weird how life works sometimes, I still feel for the guy. Wichita, Kansas has produced some top quality rbs each decade or so. B. Sanders from 1986-1989 (I still can't believe TO turned him down), D. Evans from 1996-1998, D. Sproles from 2000-2003, and now possibly B. Brown.
  9. Ha ha...I remember that tourism commercial from the old KETV days! Singing "Nebraska...the good life...so much to see..." while showing a shot of downtown Cozad! I laughed my ass off everytime it came on! Hell...I don't even have an ass anymore it was so hilarious! "Say kids...where do you want to go on vacation this year...Disneyland? Yellowstone? Epicott Center?" "No dad...I want to go to downtown Cozad...there's so much to see!" Bwhahahahaha! LOL, you pulled out Epcott Center............I don't think that place is in business anymore, is it??
  10. I'm gonna have to check out one of Bo's presser's then. If he really does laugh just like Butthead, then I would be laughing everytime he laughs. I just watched this remaining Beavis and Butthead video on youtube and haven't stopped laughing since. Mike Judge was one funny mofo. The best thing to come out of the state of Texas-
  11. LOL if he really does!! Beavis and Butthead right?? I was in HS during the Beavis and Butthead era, 91-95, and totally forgot about those guys. Beavis and Butthead laughs.
  12. I want to know who/how he is affiliated with the program?? I've been following that guy for years on HI and he is usually spot on, more so then the HI staff reporters. Don't mean to be a debbie downer, and thanks for the nice info, but was hoping to see the big D-Tackle from Arizona on the list. I guess we'll have to wait on that one and maybe something happens, ya never know??
  13. If this guy really is an OldMan on the other side, I can picture my father on the other end laughing his ornery ol asre of from your reply post. It makes me laugh thinking about it.
  14. Don't bag on TheOldMan, as this is to be expected. Now I don't know how old he is, but if he's watched Husker football from the 70s, 80s, 90s to now, that is almost 35 years of the same results. I'm pretty sure we may have the same mindset. I have an uncle, in his 50s, that has a similar mindset, we don't talk about last year when it comes to Husker football. In fact, we really don't talk about it the last 4 years. He is conditioned to the same mindset somewhat: a 35-7 victory over ISU is a descent/good/expected win, a 50+ win is considered a dominating convincing performance.
  15. Did some investigating on the LSU boards just now and looks like their lb decommit was more or less shown the door from Miles. The lb decommit is from Florida and looks to be the state's leading tackler as well. Yea, I agree, hopefully Williams sticks with us and LSU isn't taking Texas' leading tackler over Florida's.
  16. That's the kind of officiating you get when you got 5Gs on the line for LSU to cover the spread.
  17. Here you go: Too Much Smoke
  18. It's good the OU/NU game is on TV. Bad news that it's a night game, let alone it's against OU. When was the last time NU has won a night game?? (I'm not counting games that start in afternoon and finish with the lights on either) Bowl game vs. Michigan???
  19. That would suck for the second guy. That guy probably got shot down if he proposed to one of my prima donna ex-girl friends who would be going ape sh#t about being "The Second One". "You ruined my Big Moment you a-hole"-poor dude.
  20. ISU is what they are, but they always play NU/most teams very tough at Jack Trice. See OU last year 17-7 loss and the close Ls or Ws they compile at that stadium. While they also got blasted last year by Texas 56-3, maybe this NU game in the 2008 season was their UT game last year?? They play A@M next week, albeit the 2 worst teams in the league, I see them winning that game. I see it as a combo, ISU playing a little flat and NU getting better and better.
  21. I think comparing him to Pat Ricketts is a bad comparison. Pat Ricketts was much more athletic then those giving him his due. He had the hips and was quick enough to play corner. Now P. Ricketts didn't have top end speed, but he was a much faster/better player. A better comparison maybe to the other walk on safety that started for NU I think in the early 2000s. Crouch's last years. Don't remember his name. I do know one thing, watching KUs safetys play vs. OU is a different animal. I personally think KU has the best safetys in the league. They also have been coached by one of the best defensive coaching around-Bill Bradly. That guy was the DC for Baylor for a couple of years and Baylor fielded quality defenses and Mangino snapped him up. With the talent Bradly will be playing with at Miami, I can only imagine how good the U's defense will be.
  22. Ya, but unfortunately landing these types of players on the D-line is what it takes to get you on the upper echelon of college football. It's always been/will be about the D-line. The sad thing is USC and OSU is shuck full of these guys and from the looks of the kid, he could probably come in next year and play right next to SUH. One thing I missed about Boo Boo Blake was his ability to recruit. Not his coaching ability. I have a good feeling we have a legit chance with the kid if Blake is here. I think he's the main reason we have SUH. Wish we had a Blake recruiter here on staff, looks like Ekeler is the closest thing we got.
  23. I don't understand why people seem to think DTs need to be 6'3" to be successful. It's all about leverage down in the trench - sometimes height is a disadvantage. Thats exactly the players Bo has gone after so far. Both of the DT commits we have are right around 6'0". I think that when you are lower to the ground you can cause more problems in the backfield and get more pressure. Does make it harder for those DT's to bat down passes at the line of scrimmage though. With the influx of shorter QB's, a taller DT might be helpful. Not when the majority of these small white point guards in this league are standing 8 yards away from the LOS. It's all about the pass rush.
  24. Corky Thatcher That was effin funny. Well sort of because of the look a like, but because of pullin the LifeGoesOn tv series out with Corky. I totally forgot about that show until today.........great stuff.
  25. Yea I understand your displeasure and the same thought crossed my mind. BUT in the 6th game of the season you still have young secondary players that don't even know their assignments let alone who to cover, how in the hell are they expected to pick off a pass?? Add that with the fact the front 4 can put zero pressure on 2 Senior QB's that have been playing for 4 years, Hell G. Harrell is 23 years old. Yes these are excuses and it is what it is. One thing I will say, I'm pretty sure Elmo screwed the secondary players minds up more then any unit on the defense. And it shows.
