  1. And stupid passes. He rolled out of the pocket and nothing was there, but he didn't have the common sense to throw it out of bounds. Instead, he threw it right into obvious coverage for a pick. I couldn't believe he would make such a dumb choice after he's had time to develop. If the play's not there, throw it away. Even taking the sack would have been better.
  2. It was excruciating to watch. I'm sure everyone agrees. We got burned by runs and tosses and short passes to the outside all @#$%ing game. We were unable to make adjustments for better coverage. I was pulling my hair out.
  3. Michigan because their uniforms are stupid and their fans are annoying. I can actually say positive things about Penn State fans. I belong to the Idaho Huskers club that watches the games at Hooters in Boise, Idaho. This year we hosted the local Penn State club for the game between the two teams. The Penn State people showed class. I enjoyed meeting every one of them. Next year they'll host us for the game. I do despise what Sandusky did, but that's not the fault of the fans. And Sandusky's in prison now where he belongs.
  4. That was a bogus call for certain. There was no helmet to helmet. The Golden Tate block was in a different league, the NFL, where they have a rule against spearing under the chin with the helmet, which Tate definitely did. Oddly, he was not penalized for it, but was fined for it. Different play, different league.
  5. Spek. I'm having a great time this season, despite being transplanted out of Nebraska. I belong to a club named Idaho Huskers. Every week the members meet at Hooters to watch the game. A lot of people show up, and the passionate rooting is every bit as intense as in Nebraska. This week we hosted the local Penn State club. It was fun. I do get annoyed by this team's dumb mistakes, but a win is a win is a win. That includes wins with mistakes and really ugly wins.
  6. I hope you're wrong, but sometimes it seems like you're spot on.
  7. High school and even junior high and elementary school, but not in college.
  8. And not just bad PI calls. That hit out of bounds call was ridiculous. He was shoved into him! I wish refs could review some of these things.
  9. Yeah, one RB screen today, which failed. I was noticing the lack of screens this season. When done right, they're very effective at frustrating pass rushers and wearing down defenses.
  10. I'm glad the Huskers went for the win at the end of the game instead of getting ultra conservative and sending it into OT via a field goal. My fav NFL team does that all the time and it drives me nuts. In OT either team can win. By getting the TD, it made it so only we could win barring a miraculous kick return play. I watched the game at Hooters in Boise, Idaho with the Idaho Huskers club, a bunch of transplanted Nebraskans who want to watch games with their fellow fans. I love it. It's a lot like being back in Nebraska. Next week we host the local Penn State club. Should be interesting. Taylor was clutch when we needed him to be clutch. That last TD pass was spot on. However, what was up with his interceptions? Sheesh. He made some extremely foolish throws right into coverage. The loss of Burkhead is hurting us. We can still run, but our running game isn't as dangerous as before. That rule where they don't stop the clock if a player goes out of bounds until the final two minutes drives me NUTS. We had to overcome some bogus officiating. That late hit out of bounds was GARBAGE. He was pushed into the guy. I wish the league would review plays like that. There were also some extremely questionable pass interference calls. The one that stands out especially was an uncatchable ball thrown above the receiver's and the d-back's heads. Our d-back (forget who it was) got there right as the ball flew over their heads. How that's somehow warped into pass interference I don't know. The Hooters waitresses have extremely nice derrieres.
  11. There was one for an uncatchable ball where our defender got there right as the ball flew overhead. That one was totally bogus.
  12. Wow. Nailbiter game. I was pissed much of the game by the dumb mistakes that helped NW get ahead. However, I'm glad we found a way to come from behind to win. Thank goodness the D stopped NW when they did on the missed field goal drive. That 53 yard attempt was inches from being good. If he had been 5 yards closer that would have been a good field goal. This was a skin of your teeth victory. It was fun, but we won't beat the better teams with these kind of dumb mistakes. Dumb penalties, dumb turnovers and you've got not shot at beating elite teams.
  13. That is BS, in my opinion. LSU and Bama and other top-tier teams have the same expecatations (if not higher) and any coach would jump at the chance to coach at those schools. We have to stop making excuses for our shortcomings. Money talks. The lim-fac IMO is finding a good coach who won't come in and change the entire culture of the program. Callahan tried it and look how that turned out for him. Yeah, but just because it failed with Callahan doesn't mean that we shouldn't try it again. Callahan wasn't an established college coach. We need an established coach and proven recruiter. We can't roll the dice on another unestablished commodity. Callahan is a good coach, but wrong for this organization. His skill set is best for being an offensive coordinator in the NFL. In fact, he's in his first year as the O-line coach for the Dallas Cowboys, where I expect him to do well. He coached the Raiders to an AFC Championship. But he was absolutely the wrong fit for Nebraska football. Hiring a head coach is about much more than finding someone who's talented. It's about finding someone who's a good fit for the organization.
  14. They're just being honest that we stunk up the place.
  15. In order to make a bad read, you would first have to make a read. On most of these drop-back pass plays (especially on obvious passing downs when the defensive line is coming fast), Taylor isn't making reads. He's throwing it to the first receiver and by all appearances he's made that choice before he even snaps the ball. To make it worse, he doesn't try any head fakes, just telegraphs where he's going to throw it and throws it. Which might work against Idaho State and maybe even Wisconsin/Iowa/Northwestern, but not Ohio St. Beck knows Taylor's tendencies because he has access to game film from the past three seasons. The patterns aren't difficult to pin down. The key is, don't force him into situations where these glaring weaknesses will show up and hurt us. 3rd and 10 on our own side of the field, tied at 0. SCREEN or DRAW. Straight drop-back pass = telegraphed pass for an easy INT. 3rd and 5 on our own side of the field, up 17-14. SCREEN, DRAW, or PLAY-ACTION. Straight drop-back pass = telegraphed pass for an easy INT. That's what was driving me crazy. Has he heard of the pump fake? Pump fake where they think he's going to throw to get the defense to over pursue, then throw it to someone else, if open. If no one's open, run if there's a hole, roll out and throw it away if not.
  16. Martinez looks great until he gets rattled, then he makes stupid throws. Those picks weren't tips or receivers screwing up their routes. They were the QB foolishly throwing into good coverage.
  17. I guess, whatever. If that score would've come earlier, then it wouldn't have been a problem. But the game was over. No need to run any other play besides QB Kneel. It's plays like those where you run, and Braxton tears his ACL, MCL, LCL, and PCL. Then what do you do? Exactly. A kneel and it's over. A score and you get 7 needless points and bad karma. The ultimate case of bad karma was the 2008 New England Patriots. They had a perfect record all season and habitally ran up the score on people. If anyone complained, they said, "Stop being a baby. If you don't want us to score stop us." So they had a perfect 18 and 0 record all the way into the Super Bowl, a feat never accomplished before, excited about making history, and then LOST the championship! If Ohio State gets to the championship game and then loses, I'll be laughing. It's bad karma, baby.
  18. I've been wondering about Pelini. He's doing better than Callahan did, but is Pelini just a coach who has a lot of fire in his belly, but is able to put together a fair to good team, but nothing that ever competes on a championship level?
  19. I agree 100 percent. And you don't win when you turn it over 3 times and let the other team score 62 points (was that the final -- toward the end I was so disgusted I could barely look).
  20. ... you don't crowd the line with 7???? WTF? You know they're going to run. Crowd the line, get penetration, and do man to man coverage. They converted 3rd and 1 all day.
  21. I agree with you for two reasons. 1. It's poor sportsmanship. 2. It creates bad karma. To show class, when you've got it won and can run out the clock, you kneel down. I've seen it time and again when a team gets arrogant and runs it up with unneeded points, it comes back to bite them in the butt. This will gnaw at the Huskers and give them bulletin board material for next time. And other teams who hate Ohio State will see that and get extra motive. We've seen that even in this thread. In a game of inches where you so often need every favorable bounce, it's a bad idea to run up the score, even if you don't care about class. Don't act like Buddy Ryan's Philadelphia Eagles. It doesn't pay. Notice his team never won a championship, despite fielding great teams year after year.
  22. I personally thought they both did okay. Galloway did annoy me some with some of his commentary on the replay about whether the ball touched the kick returner. All and all, neither of them annoyed me for the most part and seemed reasonably competent. Of course, I was at a game party and wasn't listening and evaluating the announcing carefully. Those are just my general impressions.
  23. They had to have at least thought at some point that it was more serious. Otherwise they don't take him out of there. True story -- one day I called into work with chest pains. You don't mess around with those. I was really worried. So I went into the doctor and they did an EKG and other tests. Turns out I had sore chest muscles. Never been so happy in my life to have sore chest muscles. So I call work back and explain what happened and say I can come in. Maybe it was something like that. Or maybe he was close to a heart attack, but didn't actually have one. I do wish they would just release the info and let all the fans know for sure, but if they don't there's nothing we can really do.
  24. Ha ha! I opened this thread ready to rip the bonehead who started such a silly idea. You got me. LOL.
  25. Where is this info coming from? I was wondering the same thing myself. I speculated that this is some kind of heart issue. You don't mess around with heart attacks; you get medical help right away. Other problems like a migraine, for example, could likely be dealt with by the team physician. However, as I said, this is speculation. I do not know for a fact Bo's issue.
