  1. I don't really see how that's smack talk. its not, really, i guess. at least in my book. but I can see how it can be taken either way. Its very diplomatic, much like his 16-0 quote for next year-he never guaranteed it, but laid it out as that there is no reason they cant win every matchup on their schedule. While he is calling out something the rest of the league already knows as far as the bears o-line(and Cutler is probably happy he is)...he is still saying that the 'old guys' on their line suck and that they dont prevent much of a challenge. Really isnt much getting around that.
  2. getcha some Suh. Suh Calls Out Bears O-line
  3. this thread is hilarious. between this and the tshirt thread...hours of entertainment.
  4. is there a way to b******* bleacher report links? please?
  5. thread break. am i the only one who loves to hate that brook pic? the tom brady that never was, while being so much more. carry on.
  6. props to knapplc for this poll. very clever. from what ive seen, some should keep in mind the poll covers 'football.'
  7. i think its an enormous change. you can kill a fire with too many logs, especially a big hunk of wood that should be able to really light things up. whether or not its all watsons fault, the whole situation with him had negativity written all over it, and it was never going to get better. the tidbits coming out that he wanted to leave says a lot about watson himself, which is respectable, and about his fit in general. am I saying beck is the savior? not at all- but I cant help but believe there is more air flowing to the flames amongst the staff now.
  8. and... cue jack daniels shortage in omaha load: paulcrewe
  9. good for garrison. thats a nice chunk of change to eyeball barney.
  10. word on the street is eric martin weighs 362lbs at 7% bodyfat, grew horns, resuscitated a morrill hall mammoth and mated with it while throwing full court alley oops to tom osborne.
  11. Sold out! Damn! sorry! figured they would go fast, got it on here as soon as i saw it. wouldnt hurt to try calling them? saying you saw the daily deal and couldnt get it for whatever reason...see what they will do. never hurts to ask.
  12. great mulch deal if youre in the omaha area and a do it your-selfer @ dailydealomaha deal good thru end of day or until 25 sold. colored brown or natural (my personal choice, colored mulch is nasty stuff, it will rub off/dye your house, block walls, etc.) you cannot go to menards and buy the bags, lug them home, empty them out, etc, for anywhere close to that price.
  13. ive been thinking about going to the bockfest, never been, although I do enjoy the Crescent/Huber Haus itself every once in awhile. maybe we can get GM_Tood in here, get some Bellevue/Omaha flavor going, he's meet up down. The only one ive met from the board so far that Im aware of. Him and I grabbed a couple at Barretts BarleyCorn a few months back. I think he plays volleyball there if IIRC. Im not a big strip club guy, but I do happen to be friends with several people that work at Sarie's, and Im never shy for some blackjack/buffet action across the river. The new DJ's Dugout downtown is also quite good. You can also find me at the Brazen Head around noon on St Paddys...(17th)
  14. "shed a light?" Really? This recruiting services stuff Isnt under the radar. Quickly becoming the next wave of sensationalized offseason newsbunk. I mean, people think these recruiting companies have compiled these vast databases for Joe Fat Blow on the couch's general football knowledge and payment of 10 dollars a month? Any of you ever see or even pay yourself 10 or 20 bucks when you where in high school to some company that came out and set up combine type drills, for a fancy print out and your stats on their website? Theyre not making that info for you, nor making their real money, their very business, off of Johnny having a slip saying he ran 4.78 or giving Joe Fat the latest 'scoop' for his message board du jour. People don't think, or are really shocked to learn that they charge colleges for their vast information that an army of recruiters could never collect on their own? Uh-oh...what if the ACT and SAT's are corrupt as well! Theyre telling all these schools who to select. Oh, but you say the schools dont pay these programs. Not newsworthy. Well, maybe that's where they are smarter. They charge application fees tho, require these tests be taken, dont they? The tests cost money, dont they? How is it different, really? They hand still feeds the mouth. Oh, but a 34 ACT is a better get than a 32, they have to have that in place...right???...RIGHT! But it doesn't mean either side is guaranteed getting their moneys worth out of the deal. 34's feel free to argue, we're both here for some reason. Hell, its been featured in movies. Multiple movies. Ones with active coaches themselves in, that at one point or another shows a recruiting guru being rushed to get Tommy Tuberwhosit the latest and most exclusive 'knowledgeable' reports on a prospect. All of the sudden there is supposed to be outrage over this? I notice the article states that it hasnt been widely publicized...well, geez, I guess thats a guilty plea right there. It wasnt news! Lets make it news! Are some schools likely skirting these practices by paying shady reps of a sort directly for commitments and calling them recruiting services? Sure. This is college football after all, unlike all those academics, especially those with or gearing for journalism degrees types that would never cheat on a standardized test. But theyre just as likely doing it through plumbers, trucking companies, miracle jobs and contracts, etc. The mock shock some put out over this "newly found scandal" is hilarious. I know I ranted a bit there...but come on. Agh.
  15. no band this weekend, and ive got friends in lincoln that could use a visit. been cravin bisonwitches lately as well. ive got all my excuses in line guys... if all else, you can find me in the old market rather easily, as i live down here.
  16. there is a common, easy solution to all of this guys. we need a point man. oddly, too many indians and not enough chiefs. someone pulls the trigger, and puts their money where their mouth is. go make one decent t, wherever and whatever on it (simpler and less 'insider' the better) post a pic of you in it, and then you rake in the pennies when everyone sees they actually exist and someone has taken the plunge. it wont be me. im allergic to creativity, and more importantly, an expert procrastinator. most importantly, your tshirt money very well may end up at the bar crawl in liquid form instead of cotton.
  17. whoever it was that enlightened me to thechive.com awhile back right here in this very spot (skerchicago?)....thank you so very much. truly.

      RockyMountainOySker

haha! yep, that was probably. Might be my favorite site (outside of HB obviously) on the net. Good stuff everyday!

  18. bring it. Never deep fried a hawk before. First time for everything.
  19. they're both just as guilty. the CIA will use him and not worry about his family and such because it has bigger goals in mind, or a priority that it sees worth it to dangle this man and extract every ounce of 'success' out of him. his shortsighted view of not wanting to let his country down, or extracting revenge for his father at all costs, is no better. he is ultimately risking his family, and his family of a the joy of a father, for his own personal beliefs, or whatever you want to call it. he may be a great terrorist hunter, but nothing he does is going to end it-and im sure he is aware of this, as smart as the article makes him out to be. he is blinded by vengeance. if he didnt have a family then its a different story. all the visa stuff is fluff. this man can capture men no one else can, will risk cross border missions, has worked with the shadiest of organizations in the world, but has to rely on some silly piece of paper from the USA to get his family somewhere safe? please. he stays there, him and/or his family will die. im sure he'll get a great big medal or something.
  20. the OC at colorado (where they decimated world weed supplies cheebin his riddance) and the head coaching reference (without mentioning that he lost twice as many games as he won) are classic. "Yeah, i was a car salesman at Big Nuts Toyota...didnt work out though, I never sold a car." the guy has proved nothing other than being a scourge.
  21. that we have one would be a good start fuzzy. seriously, what kind of question is that? people act like the defense has so much to prove because the big ten is sooooo different...its not, folks. it really isnt that dramatic of a change. the conference shift is chevy vs ford, not chevy vs the space program. what is dramatic is Nebraska's offense. its like a gawldarn soap opera. maybe your looking for specifics or something? i think several different expectations have been laid out clear as day already in the thread.
  22. im fully prepared for slaughter, been considering this a long time. wasnt impressed much with prince this year honestly, especially top 10 pick worthy. the worst thing that could have happened to prince this year did- he was the fastest, most elite back of a numbers heavy secondary...4-5-even 6 guys playing essentially corner/safety hybrid spots. prince realistically learned/gained NOTHING this year as a true island corner, and as evidence I submit the OSU shellacking he took. completely unprepared for an elite, NFL caliber wide out with a cagey old gunslinger throwing to him, and being zeroed in on. You cant paint it pretty, gundy singled him out, and he was destroyed. every single week he is going to see that in the nfl. patrick peterson was a 'no fly zone' as well, with a far worse secondary around him, and still finished the year with an improved interception number of 4. Did he take some licks? Sure, but he actually played. I just cant help but look at Prince's year and be so torn...on one side glad he was guarding a third of the field perhaps excellently, on the other, disappointed that he didnt get pushed at all. Too quiet. Nothing extraordinary was asked of this supposedly extraordinary athlete. NOTHING. Patrick Peterson had a single game with 257 return yards and a TD...had a game with 2 int's...he showed up all over the field... and now with the impending lockout...oh geez...two years of not being challenged...that doesnt make a lockdown corner guys. theyre more rare than top notch qb's. prince will be one of the bigger disappointments of this years draft, especially in the arena of what husker fans are expecting of him. As good as he is, he is a true NFL project. Ill be surprised if he has anything close to a ralph brown type career, who while never an elite/regular starting corner is an amazing 10 year vet, making his way with special teams and nickel/dime play, and was drafted 5th round.
  23. Yeah its not on TV. Guess Big 12 doesn't care about the 2 teams that are leaving, even though both are fighting for a spot in the big dance. not surprising, really. i was searching for possible links of any sort earlier and came across this tidbit that will certainly help nebraska's stellar road record: completely uninteresting link
  24. gonna throw another log on he fire here... why is there any surprise to this, i mean, BYU plays division one sports. we've seen outstanding athletes from that school pass up pro chances because of their faith...we have also seen them go the other way. i guess im non-plussed about the whole thing. if thats how they want to represent themselves, then good on them. do i agree with how and why it has all turned out to be so? no. not in the least. but i do respect it. he signed up for it. ive tried to be the guy that says, 'oh come on, its college...' blah blah blah. but he accepted that scholarship. very noble of landlord to come out and say that he possibly outed himself...but come on...he was knowingly breaking the rules before that point. it obviously came after the fact that he broke them. that would be like one of our dui guys reporting themselves immediately after the cops pulled him over. "hold on officer, i need to go run some steps and report to the unity council before you arrest me..." im sure mr davies finished and said, oh...better report myself. there was probably a bit of cuddling involved. if anything, BYU should be applauded. they drew a line in the sand, and by gawd, they stuck to it. doesnt mean i wont be surprised to here more sordid details come out around this program. the very action of trying to deny the microscope into todays media world only will draw more scrutiny.
