  1. I'll go if I can sweet talk my former boss into buying a ticket or two from her. With any luck, she won't be able to use her season tickets that weekend. I'm about 3 hours away, so it's definitely going to be great getting to catch a game out here every other year.
  2. It will be interesting to see how Kevin Wilson's first HC gig works out. Hey, Indiana, give us our Ekeler back, please?!
  3. Of course I know you are being sarcastic, however it got me to thinking about how successful he would have been here. My guess is not as much as one would hope. Look at what he inherited at Florida, and hell, just by being able to recruit IN Florida. I would consider him to have been mildly successful at Utah, but nothing stood out *to me* when he was there. I think we'd have been OK, but not great, under Urban Meyer. Glad we dodged getting Rich Rod, though. Whoa Nelly.
  4. nope, I think you covered all the bases Red
  5. When I'm bored and should be working but not, sometimes I look at the older posts on here and either get sick to my stomach all over again, OR have a good giggle. that other guy no one has heard of
  6. I personally plan on boycotting every single Big 12 game, unless it involves a former North Division team against a B1G member. Iowa-ISU comes to mind, but after that, no more. I have no intentions of giving even a fraction of a tv rating point to anything B12 related. Not bitter, just not contributing to their cause in any way. I know many will watch the RRR, and maybe the Bedlam series, but any other games strike you as even remotely interesting anymore?
  7. I always liked and respected Tressel a great deal, so this one kind of hurts. If it had happened during John Cooper's reign, I would have been dancing on his grave. I know every school has minor violations every year, but I would hope that this is a wake up call for other schools to take notice of what's going on around them and get their affairs in order.
  8. No matter where you stay, you should get out on the Friday night before in downtown - I'm sure there are things going on where Husker fans would surely buy you an adult beverage. The last time I stayed in Lincoln, ended up going to a place called Brewsky's. It's a Husker fan gathering but always welcome the fans of other teams. Have a safe trip and hope you enjoy your visit.
  9. I thought one of his arguments was that he was homesick. If I recall that correctly, then I doubt having a teammate at Nebraska would be enough to get a look from him. That said, weirder things have happened.
  10. exactly why I base my reaction on the circumstance, da skers. They aren't all prima donas - some of them have legitimate reasons for needing to leave their situation.
  11. My personal opinion based on one stay is that I did NOT like Embassy Suites. The hotel was nice enough, but they over-charge for every teeny tiny thing. I think it was something like 10/night for internet, and a massive amount of $ when my husband had to use the phone ONCE and only for a few minutes after his cell died. Wish I still had that bill for illustrative purposes, but about had a coronary. I did enjoy a stay at the Cornhusker many years ago. I didn't have Husker red on at all at the time, so they thought I was the "opposition", and treated me extremely well despite their misconceptions.
  12. My reaction to player turnover is always dependent on the circumstances under which a kid is leaving the program. The unfortunate part is that kids get penalized by having to sit out, making them either honor their LOI, or suffer the consequences. Yet, the adult "role models" constantly bolt for greener pastures. I seriously think that if a kid committed to a school and there's a HC change, they should be allowed out with no hit to their eligibility (as long as they don't go to a future opponent).
  13. It's so nice to have a real blogger (and one with a neck) for our conference-related news!
  14. I hoped that was the case, but there are people who do have those exact fears and didn't want to ridicule anyone. :-)
  15. Seems a tad early to be pushing a panic button already.
  16. Thanks for the link. I found absolutely nothing inaccurate with anything they said.
  17. Thanks - that last bit is sad - I was hoping he'd settle in and do well.
  18. Was just going through some old rosters and remembered Seth Jensen got dismissed or left or something. Anyone know the full story or what path in life he ended up taking?
  19. I really don't know which way the wind will blow on this season. Tough schedule coupled with 1/2 the coaching staff being new, an OC that's never called a play, new offensive system, RB coach who's never coached RB's, coaches who were coaching HS last year, Barney's still here, limping QB, yada yada yada. I don't get the warm and fuzzies about any of it. Please please please pleasantly surprise me, team! The last time I had this severe lack of the warm and fuzzies was just before the 2007 season, and they ended up doing worse than I could have ever dreamed. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be the opposite for me this time! :-)
  20. Although a bit desolate, the area surrounding Penn State offers some really gorgeous scenery. I'll probably take a drive out that way again at the end of October to see the splashes of colors.
  21. Profoundly worded, Derek. Dear Derek, You'd think they would. But they don't. Signed, Tom Osborne, circa 1995
  22. Geez, are you dense, man? They missed the extra point on the first TD, then went for 2 on the second one and failed.
  23. we'd all have to bring our power towels for that one!
