  1. The right hire is everything. How futile was ISU, and for how long? How are they looking now? So, i dont for one second believe we're going to be down forever. A little while longer, yes, but if "new guy" is hired, and is the right "new guy", it won't take long to see us getting back to respectable. Let's aim for that first.
  2. what programs did he take from being a dumpster fire to being on top? While his record is eye popping, it didnt hurt to have Mike Bellotti build the winning foundation. Plus, I'm an Eagles fan (by marriage contract, just as he is a Husker fan, by marriage contract).... He wasn't a fit for either of our favorite teams, IMO.
  3. Big wins aren't our style... ugly wins is what we get, when we get. And for the rest of this year, that's what i want. Ugly, sloppy 1 point wins.
  4. Put in the November Tangent thread.
  5. I have never heard this podcast before, and when i looked it up, i bypassed this one (i will get to it later), and went straight for one with Carol Frost. I'm 25 minutes into it and I have changed my mind on wanting Scott to coach at NU... I want his MOM instead!
  6. Thanks for the link. I really love the way Moos conducts himself.
  7. What is the team's identity on O/D? I was just thinking that yesterday. I dont think they have one, personally. They haven't done any one thing particularly well. New coach, whether it's Frost or some other dude, will (hopefully) GIVE them an identity -- mold the guys into something. It will take time, but i think we understand that. Focusing on fundamentals first will be the key to start the engine.
  8. I think he is playing better, in part, because now expectations are lower of him and he's not in the spotlight as he was earlier in the season. He's not forcing things as much, or trying to do too much and is playing within himself.
  9. Also - word of advice. Don't be like one of our assistants and get all animated about a 1 point victory over a 3 win Purdue team.
  10. Buzz kill! I dunno, but, i think beating two top 5 teams within a month is pretty brag worthy. You also give us hope, in that when you hire the right person for the job, the job gets done well.
  11. There is no sense in freaking out/handwringing over this. Scott's going to do what's best for he and his new family, and his staff. There is literally not one thing any of us can do about it, other than just hope and pray. But, much like winning games, we can't will the team or a coach to win, and can not will our native son back home. If it's still his dream job, then it will happen. If not, he'll go where it suits him best.
  12. And sock puppet got everyone riled up about it. Good times... good times. Back when we had actual hope of getting a good head football coach on our payroll. That is, until the ultimate gut punch.
  13. I recall someone having done that with Tressel/NU 3 years ago. Ah the joys of Wikipedia. I could go in there right now and say Frost is the coach of East Jabip State.
  14. I noticed that and corrected it. Sorry, copy/paste not the greatest thing on the ipad.
  15. Someone changed his Wiki https://www.seccountry.com/florida/wikipedia-lists-scott-frost-next-florida-coach
  16. Slow learner. Haha. I knew the first year when he kept touting a "blended" offense for the current roster. But, in no way did i ever see anything than square peg/round hole - and no different than what we're seeing now, with a different roster.
  17. Thank you for that link. I agree with brophog - must read. I dont love the fact that guys get hazed the way he did, but man, did it make him one tough SOB on the field and in life.
  18. Get the players you can, coach them up, and scheme based on the talent you have. That's what he's done. His low ranked classes would kick our butts, in all likelihood.
  19. It's HOW the team loses, and how things are trending that concerns me the most. If "new guy" comes in, and has losing records his first two years, but they are competitive and passionate in every loss, and little improvements seen each week/year, I'm willing to give "that product" more time to get pieces in place to turn the competitive losses into eventual wins. When you lose to NIU and are underdogs to Turdue in your 3rd year, you gots to go. Edit: Adding the fact that they aren't favored in any remaining game against mediocre teams... gots to go.
  20. My ONLY concern with offering Frost is - if he does turn down the offer, people will be asshats and harass the hell out of him, worse than they do to recruits who spurn NU. We'll never see him again. I'm guessing thats why coaches always lie and say they weren't offered or under consideration.
