Once we get back to normal, I hope "technology" is removed from the classroom!
We've spent that past 15+ years hearing about how we need to integrate tech into our classrooms.
Now, at the drop of a hat, we are required to spend 30 minutes a day teaching "face to face" via computer. Using that time to have kids watch videos and use the web aren't recommended....wtf????

Hahahaha!
We have to do 15 minutes per class...I am usually closer to 30-45. Today I did one class that was only about 15 minutes but then they had a discussion board topic to complete.
I like it so far, in fact, I won't be shocked if we start offering some online classes as part of the norm in the future, so students can pick up and extra class on their own time.

So they want you to pretty much straight lecture for 30 minutes to a bunch of kids that probably have you on mute and are screwing around watching stuff on their phone?
Classic administrative...they don't have to do it so they will make it impossible for you.
Advice: Use the breakout rooms on Zoom...take 5 minutes to explain some sort of project or WS or questions you want them to work on...create the breakout rooms...tell them they have 20 minutes to finish...then 5 minute to discuss...then logoff.

According to our principal, we were in the boat: teach your lesson. If it takes 10 minutes, whatever, give them the rest of the time to work. The remaining time can be spent to answer questions. I like this idea!
Today we got an email after our principal attended district admin meetings. We should be on Zoom the whole time, kids or not (which of course means you better have kids at the 29 minute mark). But we should also share content like YouTube videos and recorded discussions through Google Classroom...
I'm glad they think enough of my class to make us be part of this. But, there is really only so much I can do and still be "fun". Which was what another admin told me to focus on. "You're class is why they like to come to school.. Keep it fun!"
