  1. Sounds like the mortgage industry. After I bought my first house, my wife and I made payments every month with an extra $100. I don't remember exactly how it was discovered, but I learned through a phone call (that I initiated) that all of that extra money went to "future interest" and not principal. I was so mad, but at the same time had to laugh at the guy on the other end of the phone try to explain to me why it was reasonable for me to pay "future interest" on money that I haven't yet borrowed. In the end, we were out about $1000; but Wells Fargo will never get another cent of my money if I can help it. disclaimer: I'm aware that this is a common practice in all mortgage lenders, but Wells Fargo was the one that pissed me off. Plus, they have plenty history of being buttheads to customers.
  2. I don't think a compromise is necessary if we could eliminate the need for "optional" abortions in the first place. Fund sex ed classes Allow birth control to be covered by insurance Give free birth control to teens, especially low income. (Colorado did this a few years ago with IUD's and their abortion rate plummeted) Give women access to prenatal care ETC. Everyone wants to argue over the ethics of an outcome, in this case abortions, and not look at the symptoms leading to that end.
  3. I just see it as the dreaded "coach speak". If the team was being loud and "friendly" when he walked into the first meeting, I could see a coach's comment being the exact opposite. Something like "we are much more focused this year. Kids come to the team meetings ready to learn and are much more dialed in." I don't doubt Frost's opinion, that isn't my place. But like @teachercd said, this just rings like another offseason of "the closest team in years". That's not a bad thing, I'm all for people enjoying themselves. But that also doesn't make it an real improvement by default.
  4. There is definitely going to be a BBQ this summer. I can feel it! Hell, the lineman were already hosting a "team bonding" party last weekend!
  5. I don't question Frost's opinions of his own team, but I can't help but wonder why this is that big of a deal. I mean, I would expect the players to be quiet when they are first getting to know the coaches. On one hand, I'm kinda glad the guys were mature enough to not be acting like a bunch of jackwagons when their new position coach walks in the door. Maybe they were hoping to make a good first impression?
  6. Doesn’t there have to “be a point” for it to be missed? Crenshaw’s Tweet was nonsense.
  7. No kidding! I'm assuming Crenshaw saw this (if he actually saw anything) on his visit to the border and was being hosted by Border Patrol agents and other officials. Is he telling us that they watched 1000 people cross and no one did anything? Sounds like we either need "more" Border Patrol or fire the ones in his entourage.
  8. Who are these people? I mean, actually, who are they?
  9. As a resident of west Omaha and an appreciator(sp?) of marine recreation, I approve of this plan.
  10. Blasphemer!!!! Wahoo Locker also has good ones also. I know the Wimmers you speak of, and no, they don't taste like Wragge dogs.
  11. I'm 99.9% sure that the Senate passed the bill 100-0, and Trump threatened to not sign it because it didn't fund "the wall". This threat was based on comments from Rush and other far-right outlets who called it a bad deal. Then, Ryan said he didn't want to pass anything in the House that the President wouldn't sign. The shutdown started with a Republican Senate, Republican House, and a Republican President. That's just nuts!
  12. Wait......I thought the people that voted for dems were the mooches staying at home and only voting for their handouts? Now, the people who vote dem are too hard working to skip work and go vote???? huh....
  13. The author is a black man. He is a poet and art critic in the Phoenix area. This "article" was an attempt to illustrate his feelings of his perceived status in Phoenix. This wasn't some drunk lady at a holiday party throwing a fit. That's how I see it...
  14. Maybe I'm projecting too much, because I did not think the picture was the main point of the article...
  15. True. But so is being over sensitive to it. You know why kids cry? To get attention or help. If they don't need help, don't give them the attention. It's an opinion column for a Phoenix paper. I thought those were created for people to complain....
  16. I don't disagree that his request was crazy. But I also think he knew ahead of time his request would be ignored. I mean, after being told it would be discussed by owners, it was "Googled". I saw his point as being black voices were not being heard in Phoenix.
  17. "The operators of that downtown restaurant can choose to take the photograph down, leave it up or create a title card with an intention statement. No matter their decision, I think the photograph should be taken down — sacrificing one image for the greater good." Edit: This article wasn't about one picture, or a restaurant (it wasn't even named).
  18. There was a broader point to the article. People will still agree or disagree to that point though.... "In art, everyone sees something different Who determines what's offensive? For me, the coal miners disappeared and a film honored for its artistic merit, despite being the most racist propaganda films ever, D.W. Griffith’s “Birth of a Nation” (1915) surfaces, in which white actors appeared in blackface. The white owner saw coal miners in the photograph. Therefore, it was not offensive. Fact: The photograph shows coal miners’ faces covered in soot. The context of the photograph is not the issue. Students have painted their faces black at the Arizona State University Sun Devils’ Blackout football game. During Halloween people are encouraged not to wear blackface. Phoenix Institution of Contemporary Art showcased Bob Carey’s portrait of himself in blackface. Art can be a trickster. People view artwork once and subsequently see something different."
  19. ^^^^This. I feel the exact same way. I'm waiting for that person to come forward as a candidate again. I'd argue Obama fit that bill, and Clinton and/or Kasich would have also fit.
  20. This is not false.... But I can't wrap my head around how this would be introduced without people losing their minds.
  21. Yep. As long as it's there, it can be awesome. Hell, one of the guys in our dept retired in his early/mid 50's from our district. He took 3/4 years off and is now back teaching 1/2 time. He's getting pension, plus paycheck and benefits.
