  1. I like the 9 win thing. There is obviously something to it, if only NU, Bama and Oregon have done it. I think the big difference between the three is that the 9 win bar was a maximum for Nebraska the last seven years, whereas it was more of a minimum for Bama and Oregon. I also think that we might be fooling ourselves a little bit about what 9 wins means today vs. 9 wins 20 years ago. Regarding the red. I'm not hitching to the "9 wins is enough" wagon by any means, but Nebraska won 10 games in 3 of the 7 seasons. Not that it makes everything better, just trying to keep the conversation straight....
  2. I went to a Colorado state game in early 90's that was really hot. My Mom gave up her ticket in the early morning because she knew she wouldn't make it. I'll try to find the date.... Nevermind..the games I found were only in mid 80s. My Mom is kind of a weeny But I was at the Cowboys vs. Eagles in 2000. At the time it was the hottest game in NFL history, Jerry Jones gave out free water!!!! You could watch the crowd rotate around the stadium with the shadow of the "hole in the roof", it was more entertaining that watching the Eagles beat the crap out of my Cowboys...
  3. This post isn't getting the credit it deserves
  4. No flack from me... (edit: I understand the "blackshirt tradition" pertains to the starters, great or not. As far as that is concerned, good on them for designating who wears the practice jersey before the first game, might save a laundry bill or something. The fact is, WE FANS have made this tradition much more than what it started. We started to equate it to production and a certain mentality of chaos, disruption, and pain. So, I agree. Until the defense looks like it should wear black, I don't care)
  5. It also might just come down to numbers and how they want to run practice. If they want to run 2-3 stations of O vs. D. then several QB's, RBS, and WR will be needed. The staff my want to use this as a chance to figure out the depth at skill positions. This would mean they'd also need a lot of defensive bodies to keep things moving. Although, the walk-on OL kinda throws my hypothesis right out the window....
  6. Not sure if "excited" is the right word, but I'm definitely "anxious" to see how the LB's come together. I am "excited" to see the d-line, so hopefully the guys behind them can do some fun things.
  7. I took my kids last year (they were 4) and we had a blast. We just got in the OL line so we didn't have to wait near as long and they got to meet more guys in "football shirts". I had a blast with them just walking around the stadium and having races in the endzone. My one boy was actually Channel 8 "fan of the day" because of a pic we took with him and a cheerleader. I'll have to find it and post. Anyway, I think that is what fan day is for, making your kids happy. I say grown men by themselves there getting shirts autographed, and it was creepy. edit:picture added
  8. For the record, I am not complaining about Mom being involved. I think parents should be involved and I wish she could have came to Nebraska. I'm just trying to figure out her draw to Miami as a parent. Family vacation to South Florida before she sends her son off to college in Nebraska! That's my hope at least....
  9. I agree. I have FB "friends" from my home town in northeast Nebraska who act like they are leading a revolution by hanging the flag in their front windows. They feel as if they are "standing their ground" against the government taking away their rights to interior decorate as they wish. I don't know if I should tell them they still have the same right to fly the confederate flag now as they did before, or to let them know the history of Nebraska and the civil war. I don't think they want to hear either... I think General Robert E. Lee was a walk on for the Huskers, played safety IIRC. Pretty sure Eric Lee is a legacy player...
  10. Nothing to add, just wanted to let you know your sig picture is awesome!
  11. I'm no commie, sir. I share that sh#t with no man!!!!
  12. Hey...they are outlawing the confederate flag. If you don't believe me, just check out my Facebook friend's posts. That, and Walmart is a strong supporter of ISIS birthday parties

  14. firstly, if you really believe that, then you underestimate the intelligence of some liberals secondly the p\OP was SARCASM I think you meant "over"estimate. But, I'm just a stupid liberal that doesn't think removing ONE flag from a state capital's grounds will end racism...
  15. I drink the milk from my cereal, and my kids' bowls. Nothing better than following "grown up" cereal with milk from Apple Jacks mixed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
  16. Ozigbo, as far as anyone knows, isn't losing a scholarship or being "cut". He is being asked, along with the rest of the team, to be excited about the chance to add a quality football player to an "unused" roster spot. If Ozigbo, or any other player, has a problem with his coach trying to maximize the roster without kicking a current teammate off the squad.....; I don't know what to say to a kid like that.
  17. Hmm, I would differentiate between Native American cross tribal battles and outright genecide conducted by the Europeans and subsequent Americans(see Andrew Jackson, etc). Somthing like a population kill off from ~15-18,000,000 to ~250,000. Anyway, I can see you and your 'rich friends' are set in the perceprions that have been given to you(i.e., propaganda machine), so I will spare the incredibly lengthy list of genocides that have been conducted under the auspices of capitalism, or more specifically imperialism and continue to this day with no particular end in sight. Hey....what I said the Europeans did to the native Americans was inexcusable. Not sure what else you want me to say about it. I have no doubt that if possible Red Cloud wouldn't have had a problem killing that many of other tribes. And....you act like there has never been acts of genocide or other mass killings under other economic systems. My "rich friends" LOL.....you're a comedian too. Oh, I thought you said you knew 'rich guys'. Since feudalism, global economics have been primarily capitalistic with different degrees of state intervention('socialism') and privatization. The point is, along the topic on wealth inequality, that the capitalism is the dominant model in the world and most of the world's population is poor, that's just a fact. Capitalism concentrates wealth to the relative few and produces poverty for the many(working class) by definition. LOL....you don't know rich people? Maybe that's part of your problem. You seem to demonize these people you don't know very well. Poor people have been created by absolutely every economic system known to man. AND, most of the severe poverty you see in the world is created by extremely poor governments and dictators. That doesn't necessarily have to do with capitalism. Almost all people who have cancer have eaten carrots in their life so therefore Carrots cause cancer. That is just as reasonable statement as yours about how many poor people there are in the world so therefore it must be capitalism that has caused it. Gov'ts in capitalistic societies create legistlation that favors the capitalists, obviously, just ask the Koch Bros or Warren Buffet. Well, if you can't see the connection between chatel, indentured, or wage slavery and the accumulation of wealth by the capitlist owners/investors, there's not much more I can say about it. What type of system would you prefer, Cornographic? I see the downsides of capitalism in your posts, and the postives in BRB's....what system would be "postitive" in your eyes? Please keep in mind that I would Identify myself as a "liberal democrat" if asked (not that it matters, just please don't assume you are being bombarded by "a rich white guy" ) .
  18. Isn't that what they are doing at these camps? I didn't think they were there on vacation
  19. +1000 Huskerinacaveman I think you nailed it with your last sentence.
  20. Was just coming to post this article. Good job, Mav! Good read.....
  21. I don't think it is a sin. I know it's a sin. And, like I said before, the government is NOT a christian government so I understand that they are not here to enforce such things. However this begins the very slippery slope of pushing God out of our country, and THAT is the part that I am concerned about. As a Christian, I am so tired of Christians feeling this way. This decision means absolutely nothing as it pertains to your's or my religion and how we can practice our religion. Do you honestly think there weren't gay people having sex before this decision? Do you really think that now there will be MORE sin in this world?? I know Christians value the sanctity of marriage so much that many do it 2-3 times. But....good Lord.... There used to be LOTS of people who thought it was a sin for a black man to marry a white woman. As that has happened more, has this pushed God out of our country? Christians need to stop pointing fingers and claiming everyone else is a sinner and start working to live OUR lives as good examples. And, that being a "good example" doesn't mean being judgmental about everyone else. It's not that it wasn't being done, and no I don't think it will result is "MORE sin". It's just like if weed were legal, it's not going to start some culture shock where everyone starts smoking weed. It doesn't mean that it wasn't done before. For the record, being judgmental is NOT me saying "Homosexuality is a sin". That is a fact from GOD. Me being judgmental is looking at someone by how they act and assuming or thinking they might be gay and trying to affirm that to others without even knowing. Good lord is right, some people need to realize what actual judgment is. Smoking weed is a choice. Being gay is not. Im not gonna just wake up one day and be like I think i wanna have gay sex today. Talk to any gay/lesbian they will tell you they were attracted to the same sex at an early age. I used to work at a daycare and there was a fifth grader there that loved playing with dolls and talked/walked in a very feminine way. I said to some coworkers at the time he will grow up to be gay. You could just tell. Guess what happened... What about Brittany Griner's (ex)wife? Married into a homosexual relationship, 28 days later. Straight as a board. Being gay is a choice. How else could homosexual people argue it other than to say "oh I was born that way". We can't definitively know because we can't really know if they are telling the truth. I had 4-5 people in Kearney at a church confess they didn't turn gay till they were around the age of adolescence. I'm tired of the the "born that way" garbage, maybe some are, but I can't get on board with ALL of them being that way. Too much evidence that shows it's also a choice. Understandable. I didn't turn "straight" until adolescence either. Actually thought girls were "icky" up until that point....
  22. I don't think it is a sin. I know it's a sin. And, like I said before, the government is NOT a christian government so I understand that they are not here to enforce such things. However this begins the very slippery slope of pushing God out of our country, and THAT is the part that I am concerned about. Coach, as long as there are Christians, God is not being pushed out of our country. My church still had services on Sunday; two of them actually. I saw the Catholic church hold services also. I have seen many Christians on boths sides of this topic here and on Facebook. If you think the US government is strong enough to push/keep God "out", you are severly underestimating the power of God. Remember: as long as two people meet in His name, He will be there. In short: it's gonna be okay. I'm also a Christian that saw Friday as a great day for America, so take my opinion for what it's worth....
