  1. My point was that his contribution wasn't meeting frosts quality control standards. He was sliding down the depth chart as a result. One big run against Colorado didn't out weight the red zone fumble and slew of more minor offense mistakes he was making. Frost made his position clear when other backs started getting more carries. Not saying good riddance. I wish he had stayed and fixed what he was doing wrong and got back in the rotation, but that was his choice, he made it.
  2. There are lots of players who look good on paper but don't hold up on film. Bell was definitely one of those, he was unpolished and a work in progress. But a promising one, this is a shame.
  3. didn't say it wasn't? And while you previous post is still true, it is also true that he did enough wrong to see his playing time massively cut. Hopefully he figures it out in practice.
  4. Thats very likely, he's goofed enough plays that they are starting to blend into a concoction of disappointment. Though not as bad as lamarr Jackson.
  5. i seem to recall him losing it or nearly losing more than once. But yes once for sure. Could have fooled me. He is no burner, thats for sure.
  6. little surprised by the bolded given how bell has had fumble issues, and also the fact that the dude seems kinda slow.
  7. underrated as always. hardest working guy on the field by far.
  8. well when we remove the emotion and shock of our unfortunate and poor start and look at the staff from a more neutral point of view i got this off the top of my head. Head Coach: B - been pretty average, nothing horrible nothing great. Offensive Coordinator/WR: ? (Not really sure what the OC is doing relative to Frost) - same questions here, pretty sure frost calls the plays but idk. WR play has been awful Offensive Line: ? - line is still in a state of fluidness, once they settle on their 5 ill be more critical, but it was better today. Running Backs: C - need to work on ball control, some of the new faces haven't lived up to the hype due to a lack of fundamentals. Tight Ends: C+ - a surprisingly ok unit this year. QB Coach: B - has done well with Martinez Defensive Coordinator: B - has done a solid job turning this unit turned around, especially when you consider that they are on the field as much as they are. Special Teams Coach- F-minus - totally agree here, although it is also slowly improving. defensive Line: C+ - its been solid, even good at times, but bad decisions are still common. Line backers A- Barrett Ruud can coach, and this unit is massively improved. They still had some bad first year mistakes, but considering this is Ruuds first time coaching im impressed Defensive Backs- D-C - some of them are struggling and not even involved, others like bootle are helping carry the defense, this is a mixed bag, but not reflective of the coach entirely yet. There has been marked fundamentals improvements from a number of the DB's i really like.
  9. clemson rushes the field after beating syracuse........ oh boy
  10. Thats why you do it, they aren't expecting it and we got a gain on the play, one of the few on the day. But i agree, this play doesn't exploit any of his strengths and talents, he is a between the tackles runner. Washington is promising athletically, but there is some causes for concern in how he runs. Granted i thought he would play more, but him not playing validates some theories i have.
  11. .................. well. That same Troy lost by 6 to clemson in 2016. Beat LSU in Death valley last year. Wen't 10-3 a year ago and has also been running spread up tempo offenses longer than we have. Maybe, just maybe, troy isn't as bad as you think. And given we have a new head coach and a roster in upheaval with a lot of new faces out there, maybe we as fans should be a bit more understanding.
  12. well bunch is forcing things now, he needs to calm down and focus
  13. bunch was supposed to keep it there. bad zone read
  14. interesting, not sure ive ever seen Frost dabble with the pistol
  15. the coaches need to have a long talk about moving lamarr jackson to safety or WR.
  16. The play call was poor. rolling a righty QB left is always risky, the defense wasnt fooled.
  17. Yea that's the point I'm making. It's a misdirection run. Yes you have less blockers. But if the defense is reading the line as their Keyes. They will follow the lineman and take themselves out of the play. Combine this with someone who can make a tackler miss and it can get lethal for a defense in a hurry.
  18. It's not uncommon. Plenty of defenses make their defensive reads based on the offensive line, "the line don't lie" i think was what and old defensive coordinator once told me. Problem is in modern football it does and defenses who are over reading the o-line are susceptible to getting burned by the play your talking about. Flip side of that, if the defense is reading the back field they won't be fooled and will blow you up in the back field.
  19. I fear this thread will not live up to the esteemed legacy of the Diaco and Banker threads level of bat s**t crazy and weird. However i feel the on field product in time will compensate for the lack of entertainment, in a good way of course.
  20. There is nothing they could do to keep tanner lee and most recently, Gebbia. The only way we would have held onto gebbia was to red shirt Martinez and make gebbia the starter. So not ideal either considering martinez won the job out right. There is no evidence Vedral will be bad either. And right now, we just need somone who makes good decisions and holds onto the ball. Mcaffery may play WR, but given our current situation at QB, i think he gets a real look. Yes it is a problem, i said as much in my last post.
  21. the long term out look at the position is fine, recruiting at QB has been very good. The problem is what do we do in the short term. And that is a very good question. I feel the best answer is to work over time on the NCAA to get vedral eligible and then let bunch and vedral fight it out for #1. But really thats not ideal, so there is no perfect silver bullet fix to this problem that anyone would really like.
