  1. Are both UCF and USF's players that much faster than ours? The game looks like it's moving at an entirely different speed... and I don't just mean time between snaps.
  2. Why doesn't Riley give O'Brien a shot... even one series. Heck, if you're going to lose your job... why not give Gebbia a shot. Sure, the offensive line has issues, but there's far more wrong with Lee, than poor protection.
  3. If you watch POB and Lee's post game conferences here... you'll notice something distinctly different between the two. http://studio.omaha.com/Tanner-Lee-Laying-foundation-for-the-Fall-32272231?playlistId=14322 If there's one intangible hurting POB, I think it may well be his apparent apathy for -team-. You also need only look as far as the silliness which was happening when Lee was being interviewed on the field by BTN after the game. He clearly has the receiving corps 'behind him'. I sure hope POB sticks around for a while, I mean let's face it... drop back QB's get injured, I would hope he realizes there may be opportunities which emerge. But long term, I question whether he stays on campus.
  4. It's safe to assume the guy with 2 years FCS starting experience has better odds of starting over the red shirt freshman who has never once even stepped on to the field. That said, I'm sure Riley will play whichever guy turns out to be the best. As far as an early departure, consider POB has seen Fyfe have to step in for TA, even wonder if his red shirt was going to get burned at a moments notice. I suspect he'll be content in a back up role for a while, should it come to that.
  5. Just another example illustrating great players don't always make great coaches. Can we move on please?
  6. Under the circumstances, I guess that's pretty impressive.
  7. I hope we're not basing his recruiting success, on what he did at Alabama. I'm pretty sure a corpse could recruit talented kids to Alabama.
  8. A QB who can quickly find the most open receiver, an offensive line that helps facilitate that. A defensive line that can get to the opponents QB, consistently good tackling (we saw it a few times this year). Solid special teams, how about a few kick returns. I personally think the best we can hope for is to match this years record, while working in a pro style QB and fully transitioning to the Riley offense, although PSU's success suggests it could happen in one year. I agree with McKewon that we should go up tempo as well. I'll be ecstatic if we can go one step beyond this years accomplishments in beating one of either Wisconsin or Iowa... look to 2018 as the big jump.
  9. I expect we'll take a step back... but hopefully lay a good foundation for the offense, for the years that follow. We had so much wide receiver/TE talent this year which could have been used more effectively with a QB who could see more than one of them at a time. Unfortunately, QB next year won't have the same talent to work with, or at least experience. I'd be ecstatic with another 9-3 finish, but I'm expecting more like 7-5.
  10. Look at it this way... the season was no worse than what Bo would have delivered, except without the embarrassing sideline demeanor. I'm actually excited to see what a QB can do, who hopefully can see more than one receiver on the field... although I feel a little bad, that they won't have the same stable of experienced talent to work with in their first year. It may be optimistic to expect the same 9-3 record next year with all the new faces/change-up in offense.
  11. There's only so much a defense can do when it's offense is not producing (anything)... and that just wears on a unit as the game goes on. As for special teams, literally every example of anything that could go wrong, did throughout the course of the season, and often more than once. A lot of that is discipline, and that falls squarely on the coach.
  12. So I'm curious, when it's 3rd and long, and Tommy is given the long fly route play downfield... is he encouraged to take the short or intermediate route receivers underneath? Why does it seem that Tommy throws 'the bomb' at every opportunity? Is that his decision or has Langsdorf already made that call?? or is Tommy just never seeing/taking the short route option?? I really feel, that if we get a more talented passer back there, that they could better distribute the ball around, keep teams more off balance... just toss it downfield when it's truly open (and have the ability to make it at least 50% of the time). It's just unfortunate that we're losing so many talented receivers/TE's next season. I sure hope we have some great talent which will fill in the holes. We had so much receiving talent this year, it seems if we could just get the ball to them consistently, they could then be making the plays.
  13. I guess I figured they'd play Darlington before burning the redshirt this far into the seasion.
  14. I recall years ago, hearing that HuskerVision actually made motivational videos for the team to watch before gams... anyone know if this practice is still done?
  15. Bearing in mind, we were always second to the Red River Rivalry. I don't know why so many fans (on both sides) refuse to buy into the Nebraska-Iowa rivalry. You've got Iowa fans all over, in Omaha/western Iowa. There's lots of hate from both sides. We are not even on the map as far as most Wisconsin fans are concerned (maybe briefly when we first visited Madison as B1G member, but what a joke that was). Iowa is the closest thing we have to a rivalry today. Embrace it, it's been a pretty decent series as well. I'm thinking the reason most of you here don't like it, is because Iowa hasn't compiled much of a resume (but seriously, what has Wisconsin done, other than kick our ass over and over).
  16. I don't know how anyone could be confident of a win. I think we've got a serious shot though.

    Alternatively, I'll take 14-13
  18. I don't know why everyone is writing off the Wisconsin game. We have a good defense. Wisconsin's offense isn't all that great. You keep it close, have a few opportune plays, and I think we have a chance.
  19. For that matter, Maryland took care of Purdue, 50-7.
  20. We held Purdue to 200 fewer yards than Iowa did.
  21. I think psychologically, we've got the Badgers right where we want them.
  22. Consider we held Purdue to 200 fewer yards than Iowa did... this is a good defense. Iowa did a pretty decent job of bending/not breaking against Wisconsin. I think if the defense can just keep us close, we have a chance for a DPE return, a circus catch, etc, possibly giving us a shot at winning. No one is going to expect us to win, many probably expect us to get blown out. Obviously I'd like to see us come away with the upset, but if we even keep it a hard fought loss, I'll be happy. 9-3 would be a great finish to the regular season, anything more would just be gravy.
  23. I expect the players will have a little more motivation to duplicate their feat from last season, with their head coach having just been shown the door.
