  1. Unfortunately I could not see from my seat what happened, because of all the other students in front of me. But, he appeared fine running into the end zone, and the next thing you know he is down behind the end zone in pain. After the game, Bo Pelini said he thought Asante was just bruised but wasn't exactly sure on the injury.
  2. The North is always down. As long as OU and Texas continue to poop all over the place and get a lot of great recruits and win big games, the North will have a tough time competing every year. I think NU is the best team in the North simply because they appear to be the most physical on both sides of the ball. I think MU could be a lot better if they were more physical and same with Kansas. All three of these teams do some good things but from the KU and MU highlights I've seen I don't see the same physicality as I do with Nebraska.
  3. Will somebody please translate this post? Or was it alcohol induced? That's my best guess lol.
  4. Until I read it in the paper I didn't know he was injured. I missed that in the game. I remember seeing McNeil in the game with a wrap around his ankle, which leads me to believe that they wrapped it up and he was still able to play. The good news is that the players have a couple days off this week with no practice and they have 12 days to get ready for Missouri. With the exception of Thenarse, I think these guys will be ready to go for the Missouri game.
  5. OMG I KNOW!!!!! Seriously, everybody in the stadium knew that it was number two. I didn't blink and watched the entire damn thing, and it somehow ended up being number 3!?!?!? Way to screw us over Valentino's.
  6. C'mon knapp. I live here in Omaha. See the REPEAT Husker hi-lites on the 4 Husker channels in town. I saw parts of the Tech game and enough coverage to offer up a half-educated analysis. and Strength of Schedule? Are you for real? You can't use that in football. College Basketball maybe, but not in football. You can only use that in the polls....it doesn't come in to play for predictions. I don't think the actual SOS really helps in predictions either, but seeing how a team beats their opposition is a fairly solid way to gauge a team's talent.
  7. Yeah we don't have a game next weekend either, which is nice because it would be unfair (in my eyes) for one of our teams to have to play the Saturday before and then have to play another game the following Thursday. And as far as Meth goes, it's no more easy to make it here than anywhere else considering the ingredients are mostly household. But, statistically speaking, the easiest places to make and get meth have always been on the West Coast.
  8. Cody is going to get playing time today and it's blatantly obvious. This game is going to be similar to how our first two games went. The coaching staff also said earlier this week they are going to try to get a lot more younger guys in the game than usual to get them more experience before conference play.
  9. They can key on Helu all they want. It's not going to help them if they can't stop a Nevada team that could barely rush the ball against Colorado St. If you're putting this game in the hands of Helu and our O Line, I love our chances. The Missouri D Line was getting pushed backwards all game long by an average Nevada O Line. Surely you saw this? Frankly, Lee wouldn't have to throw the ball at all and we'd still be in the game, the way Missouri looked tonight. But the Missouri secondary isn't that great, that's the problem. Furman passed for 300 yards on them. Furman! People were blowing a gasket that we gave up 358 yards to FAU - FAU is a Division 1A school! I touched on this either in this thread or another one. I really think MU's o-line and d-line are not athletic and speedy. I think we will be able to push them around all day especially defensively because let's face it, Suh hasn't been shut down one game this year and he has played a top 15 opponent and had by far his best game. Hopefully we can pound the rock against MU and get Rex some more carries in conference play. That guy will be something special.
  10. I give about as much attention to what ESPN says as I do dirt under my fingernail: I'll scrape at it, but once it's gone I go on living. The sellout streak is a tribute to fan devotion and to cheap ticket prices (cause let's face it, if ticket prices were ridiculously high there would be no sellout streak). But even so, we go to the games because we are Nebraska football just as much as the team is Nebraska football. We care as a collective whole more about our team than anybody else cares about their team in college football. I was at the 200th sellout (my first Husker game) and now here I am, in college, getting pumped up to go to the 300th. It's amazing.
  11. We shouldn't get too pumped up yet. Teams can change week in and week out. When conference play roles around teams always kick it up a notch, especially those teams adamant on making a legitimate B12 North title. I expect the MU v. NU game to show better execution from both teams. But as I said in another thread, I just hope NU out plays Missouri and we win by at least 2 td's.
  12. Very impressive numbers for Gabbert. Pretty good 3rd down conversion rate. Nothing to write home about and their is definite room for improvement though. 364 yards is not a good thing though. Nebraska got away with giving up 300+ yards simply because they didn't allow points, but allowing points and that kind of yardage is something that needs looking at. Can't wait for this game. I hope that it is hard fought but Nebraska wins by two TD's at least.
  13. Are you a Tiger fan in disguise? Show yourself! Honestly, I'm not saying this isn't going to be a great game, but you are putting Mizzou up on a pedestal when they are probably equally as talented as we are. And where did this knock on Bo come from? Do you not count going all the way down to Florida and beating Clemson as a good road win? It may have been a bowl game, but Clemson fans outnumbered Husker fans. Any game not in your own stadium with all of your fans is a road game in my eyes. Alright, how's this: Huskers are gonna stomp their asses! Mizzou sucks, Big Red by 50! Yay! Honestly, I love the way Bo prepares his players emotionally, but him and his staff have had some questionable in-game coaching. And the fact remains, we've only played three good teams on the road under Bo and lost all three. Also, QB play is extremely important to any team's success. Each QB is very inexperienced, having had one big spotlight game so far this season. Gabbert had a huge game and Lee failed miserably. Who knows, maybe Lee will improve greatly and have a huge day and we'll win by 14. Anything could happen. But looking at it objectively, there's no doubt the edge goes to MU. Oh, and I was at the Gator Bowl. If Clemson fans outnumbered us, it wasn't more than 55-45. So trying to pretend that was somehow similar to the atmosphere at a Clemson home game isn't going to get you anywhere. Lol much better. I'm not saying you have to be a homer as far as the Huskers go, but it just seemed like too much credit to give to an MU team that hasn't produced much yet. If they beat us, they'll have proved me wrong. Second, Bo Pelini has been a head coach for only a year and a half. He has a lot of coaching experience, yes, but being a coordinator and being the HC are two different things. He also wasn't as lucky as Osborne and Solich were when they took over this program. Devaney left T.O. with a wealth of talent, and T.O. left Frank S. a wealth of talent. Coincidentally, F.S. did not leave Bill Callahan with a wealth of talent and Bill Callahan left B.P. with a bunch of athletic guys who didn't know what the f*ck they were doing defensively. That stated, we must look at what we have to work with. Stoops won a MNC at OU because he was left with a lot of young talented players that just needed to be coached harder. B.P. was left with a lot of guys who had been in a system for many years that couldn't execute consistently to save their life. Lastly, the only point I'm making about the Clemson game is B.P. took his football team down their on the road and beat a team that was favored to beat us. If Clemson had won they would have come into the season in the Top 25.
  14. You would be very much alone in this belief. Understandable, but I think if we had a debate on the qualities of either the big 10 or the ACC we would agree both conferences are much weaker than the big 12. I think the lack of offensive imagination displayed by VATech over the past 10 years makes them a very average team nationally, although very prominent in a weak conference. JMHO Respectfully, I must disagree with your opinion for a couple of reasons. 1) VaTech wins 10 games every year. They make lack overall offensive power, but they still find ways to win. 2) Miami and VaTech are probably better than 8-9 of the Big 10+1 schools. 3) Both VaTech and Miami have done something neither of the two Big 10+1 "power houses" have done this year, and that is beat a Top 25 opponent. Miami has beaten two top 20 teams by themselves. 4) Even though the ACC may not be a flashy conference, they still win big nationally televised games. Last year, both Penn State and Ohio State lost their BCS bowl games, and VaTech won theirs. Simply put, the ACC produces and the Big 10 does not.

  16. I think this will be a real big game for us, and I have a few reasons why I think we will win. 1) After watching just bits and pieces of MU's games so far, I didn't see a lot of explosiveness on either side of the ball. I saw a lot of good consistent offense/defense, but I think that a team that is focused and keyed in on execution could have a big day against them, especially on the lines of scrimmage. I don't see a lot of power and speed on their lines. Consistency, yes, but nothing to write home about. 2) While VaTech may have one of the worst statistical run defenses, I think they have better athletes all around defensively (especially on the d-line). Which means I think we will have an easier time running the football and exposing coverage gaps. I think MU will be able to stuff some of the run game, but I still see Helu getting at least 100 yards and a score or two. 3) There is no question in my mind that Gabbert will be a better QB than Daniel, and will probably be more respectful of his opponents. But right now, he is still a fairly young football player who hasn't been tested by a really good d-line with a potential number one over all draft pick. Doesn't matter who we have played, Suh has exploited every single one of their o-lines and opened up things for the rest of the d-line. I think that Suh, Crick, Allen, and Turner are going to be in the back field all day. Flustering a spread quarterback early is a great way to beat him. So, that's how I see things going for us. I think Missouri's crowd will offer some resistance, being a Thursday night game, but I still think Lane Stadium was a slightly bigger challenge. But as Bo said, it doesn't matter where you play but how you execute, because the fans aren't playing the game. Prediction: 34-24 NU
  17. I really enjoyed the stadium through the years gallery. Very interesting to see how Memorial Stadium has evolved.
  18. I would agree for the most part. I think Missouri is going to be a key game for us. Win this game and the only other looming North team will be Kansas. If we can beat 2 of the 3 south teams this year, that will also be a huge accomplishment in it's own right. We haven't beaten more than 1 south team since...guess when...2003-04. Every year since then we have lost to either all three south teams or only beaten one. This year it is very possible, considering I still don't think Baylor has enough talent to hang with us and that TT is still on a down year even though they played Texas well. Potts, although throwing well in his first 3 games this season, gave up 3 sacks and an int to Texas in 62 pass attempts. Throwing that much will help us at some point. Texas Tech has proven every year that they can't push themselves into the upper level of college elite simply because they don't run the football. They have 86 total rushing yards this year, and that is going to hurt them.
  19. How do you or anybody know if Cody can handle the pressure or not? He has played in two games, both of them blow outs, and he came in for mop-up duty both games late in 4th quarter. Cody has also admitted that he feels comfortable running maybe 20 some odd plays out of our playbook, while Lee is capable of running all of them. He can't run the same 20 plays over and over again and expect to be successful every week. He's going to get the playing time he needs, but right now I still feel more comfortable with Lee as the starter than I do Green, and Lee has proved he can make all the throws when he is healthy. I said it once and I'll say it again, he had two great touchdown passes called back because of a dropped ball and a penalty. He also had another great td pass that the receiver he threw to let go right through his hands.
  20. Lee also sustained an injury late sometime in the first half. But I chalk up his bad performance to the Tech D and stupid penalties. If they had been able to punch it in on first and goal, the teams psyche might have stayed high and we might have been able to even get another score or two, but that drive really deflated the team.
  21. I'm sure there is a reason that Cody was not put in the game. The coaches probably felt Lee gave them the best chance to win, and that's why we played him. Nobody on this bored would give a damn about Lee's injury if we had won. Everybody also seems to be forgetting that it wasn't Lee's fault we lost this game. He threw two crisp touchdown passes in the second half, one getting called back for a penalty and one getting dropped. More than just Lee played into this loss.
  22. Interesting stats. I think this is kind of ridiculous, in a sense though. By this time last year Ganz had played in what, 6 total games dating back to the 2007 season? Ganz also played 2 of those 3 2007 games in hostile environments. This was Lee's first road test and only his 3rd career start.
  23. He also went on to say he has a splint on his left hand to provide support. Even if it is a "SPLINTER FRACTURE", I'm sure it is something won't effect his playing ability.
