  1. Don't forget that Taylor Martinez will be here in the fall, so that will be another guy that can add a little depth to the QB position. Picking up the offense will be tough for him, however.
  2. We have always had alcohol related issues at UNL! When I was a HS kid in Columbus coming to games in Lincoln there were many issues with a particular QB back in 1973! These kids are kids they make mistakes and yes DUI is serious and driving under suspension is serious but he has not been in trouble that we know of up to this point. I am one who says two strikes and your out not one strike! I see where skersfan is coming from, because this definitely could have been a tragedy and he could have definitely killed somebody. It a scary thing to think about. My take is that this kid is getting an all expenses paid trip to earn a college degree and play football. I don't care if this is his first time, the fact that he's still young, or the fact that he is a potentially great wide receiver; when college is getting paid for you better not be screwing around at all, because you are extremely lucky compared to millions of people in the U.S. who will never be able to afford college. There is zero tolerance for this, as Bo even stated. I say punish the whole team so an example is made of him i.e. make them do a lot of extra physical work and/or something they don't want to do.
  3. Congratulations... Unsportsmanlike Conduct Message Board Posting of the Day hahahaha oh man..thanks
  4. Sounds like it would be very beneficial to a football team.
  5. Crappy losses for sure, but worst Husker moments? I could definitely see getting rid of your #2. I do agree with you about #5, but not for your reasoning. Read my post up the page a bit cause I talk pretty in depth about this game.
  6. 1) I honestly don't know what football games you watch, but it must not be Husker games. We move the ball very effectively without this play mixed in. Considering we only ran it a couple times a game, obviously it wasn't our bread and butter. 2) We did pretty well against the Clemson defense in the second half. Maybe it wasn't consistent, but we still played against them pretty well and they are far better than any Big 12 defense. 3) We run what many have dubbed the "Spest Coast" Offense (there are a few variations of the name). We use shotgun formations to run the football and base sets to pass. The West Coast Offense is highly based off of base set passes/passing formations. Every now and then we mix it up, but we still have many West Coast Offense links in our chain. There we go, I laid down the law on him so go easy guys.
  7. Mendoza would probably be the best choice as far as running that play goes.
  8. Just wanted to say the article posted on there about why Nebraska deserved an outright championship in 1997 over Michigan was a great read.
  9. That is an awesome shirt. I wonder if anybody has actually been to all 300 games since the streak started lol
  10. Exactly. If you look at the top schools right now: Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, etc, that seem to sign players with all those pretty stars by their names they have two, albeit very basic, similarities: 1) they have established coaching staffs and 2) are consistent winners. Bo will get there as well, it'll just take another year or two after the '10 class.
  11. Because that's not showing class. Why jump around and act like a child to some fake pump up music? The Tunnel Walk became what it was because of the subtleness and ability of the music to mesh with the mentality one should be in when playing the football game. It embodies the yeoman-like approach the players and coaches took to the game. They were men ready for and going to battle, not kids needing to be pumped up to play a game. and men going to battle would listen to amon amarth not alan parsons. Maybe we could start sacrificing lambs and eating their hearts at mid field instead of playing any music at all?
  12. Rivals did an interesting article on Henry, so it will be interesting to see what he does. I like Paul, and always thought he had a lot of potential. I just wish he would have redshirted. Paul also had a few fumble problems last year if I remember correctly, and he just wasn't very explosive. This WR group this year scares me thanks to inexperience, but I'm hoping we will get two guys to step up like Petey and Swifty.
  13. I have a terrible Husker moment, that ended up being one of the best things that ever happened to us in the last 5 years, in my honest opinion. Saturday, September 15, 2007. ESPN's College Gameday was in Lincoln for the big match up between #14 Nebraska and #1 USC. Nebraska got throttled, losing 49-31. Don't let the score mislead you, however. As this game was over quickly. Many of those 31 points came in garbage time at the end of the game, and Nebraska played like one of the worst football teams in the nation for much of that night. Why is there any good in this? Because it was the first stepping stone in the realization that Bill Callahan's football was not good football. It was the initial step in eventually nabbing us a historic coach as A.D. and a great coach in Bo Pelini. We all know deep down, somewhere, that Bill Callahan and his coaching wasn't fully working out at Nebraska. This beating from USC, honestly, was a blessing in disguise in my eyes.
  14. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I was about to post that too. Harsh lol
  15. When run effectively this play is amazing. Helu had a couple of good runs off of it this year, if I'm not mistaken. It was used in the 90's, however, as one of the posters pointed out.
  16. I totally forgot about the Reggie Bush thing. I thought it had been handled or just forgotten about.
  17. I would have to agtree, if we could beat Texas or Oklahoma, that would be good, very difficult to beat both. 1 would be a lot... I think our non conference is as good as Iowa State's... THey have one good team and 3 bad ones. If we played their schedule, we would go 4-0, with the only possible loss being Iowa, and I think we take that one. If they played our shcedule, they would get Northern Colorado and maybe one more. I guess I shouldn't have said "ever", but the chances are pretty slim for that to happen this year. Nebraska probably couldn't even do that for awhile. I don't usually stick up for Kansas, but in this thread I feel like I should. Having to play TT, UT, and OU in the same year is brutal. I think them having a "cup cake" non conference schedule is well deserved so that they can make bowl eligibility. Just beat Missery so the North is between us KU and NU.
  18. This list was confusing to read..you probably should have put Kansas first if they have the biggest cup cake schedule lol. But it makes sense that Kansas would do that. I mean they have a ridiculous conference schedule this year and they need to find some way to become bowl eligible, because we all know they aren't beating Texas or Oklahoma in the same year ever.
  19. Ouch. That one will leave a mark. Sure will. Although there were many who thought Harrison Beck qualified as such. I think expectations are a bit more tempered for Green. Maybe that is just optimism on my part... I wouldn't disagree with that. I think Nebraska fans are realizing that unless they perform well, we shouldn't get too hyped up. Too many situations the last half decade where potential great players bottomed out on us.
