  1. It's unfortunate to see him go out on a low note, but he was a heck of a football player. He was a man among boys his Freshman year in college. I'll miss seeing him play. I think coaching could be very beneficial for Green. He'd be a hell of a running backs coach.
  2. your basing this on what.... I am no homer. Everyone who knows me on this site can agree to that. But you have nothing to base this on. MU has beaten NU in Columbia since 2003 (by pretty good margins at that) and last year in Nebraska. They have done so with a number of different players, including two different QB's, 4 different TE's, 3 different RB's about 7 different WR's and god knows probabaly 40+ different starters on D (mu has different starters on D about every year. Makes it hard to keep up ) Chase Dainel & Jeremy Maclin played in two of those 4 wins. So why would MU go away when they leave? Cheer on your team, be excited. But really, Nebraska has just as many, if not more questions to answer this spring and fall when it comes to their team. And before you quip back, yes the D was better, but as has been discussed at length, that has a much to do with the O's ability to milk the clock brilliantly last year. The pts allowed, avg yrds per play (both run and pass) were all near the bottom of conference. But the D faced fewer plays than almost every team in the country. (this is not a knock. infact it was brilliant) And with almost no returing fire power, how will NU control the clock if they may not be able to get first downs. Your little rant is equal to me coming on here and saying "we all know MU is better than Nebraska. They won 41-24, 41-24, 41-6 the last 3 in Columbia, not to mention the 52-10 (i dont count cheap TD's with your starters against our 3rd string) last year in YOUR house. You guys will get Rocked!!!! -signed 'MU TROLL' Thank you and have a nice day I'm basing it on one thing which is returning talent. Nebraska has far more of it returning on both sides of the ball, and Bo Pelini is arguably the best defensive mind in the Big 12 and this will be his second year getting his guys to be in the top echelon of defenses (which is where his defenses always end up). And in my honest opinion, previous scores from past years really play no effect into the upcoming years game at all and it's a statistic I pay no attention to. They have nothing to do with this year's guys. Two totally different teams. It'd be like me bring up the scores from 1990-99. Missouri didn't win a single one of those games and often lost by margins of 35+ points or more, but anything can happen each year.
  3. i like it. NU 4-0 on thursday nights.. Really? When was the last time NU played on a Thursday, anybody know?
  4. Shouldn't this be on a Texas board considering this doesn't relate to the Huskers in any way other than the fact that they are in the Big 12? I, personally, could care less about seeing a Texas game because I'm extremely indifferent. I'm completely disagree with Texas being the power of this conference. If they were the power they'd be winning B12 championships more (media bias and BCS leap frogging aside). Texas could not bully ND out of that NBC contract. There are tons of Notre Dame fans out there considering their television tradition. T.V. deals are ridiculous and completely biased imho.
  5. Nice photo gallery, thanks for posting it! I can't wait to see that kid with a red N on the side of his helmet. edit: fixed it from head to helmet
  6. glm09, I think our defense will be strong and the d-line stronger than last year. I think we will miss Macho Harris the most on D, but there are several other playmakers in the backfield. I assume your offense will be stronger this upcoming year, but that your running game needs to be able to improve given you will have a young QB (especially early in the seaon on the road). Running on us will probably be tough, but if you have a balanced offense I am confident that NU will move the ball on just about anyone next fall. As for TT's passing game. Not sure how this offseason is going, but he did improve his passing later in the season, which I personally think can be attributed to the WRs getting better (mostly freshmen). I hope we can rely a little more on his arm this fall. I think a lot of Hokies will keep a close eye on the Huskers in the first two games to see how your offense improves. I'm excited about the Bama opener as well, but I guess the great time we had in Lincoln last year makes me extra excited about having you all in Lane Stadium. Our offense might actually have some trouble moving against VaTech. Our QB from last year graduated and we have to break in a new starter this year. Granted he will have a couple of games to get into the swing of things, but VaTech will be the first big team/big time game he plays in so it will be interesting to see what he is able to do (depending on who our new starter is). This might be one of those defensive/low scoring games. Nebraska, under Bo Pelini, is taking a new approach to the game as opposed to the rest of the B12. Most B12 teams are going heavy offense, but Bo is trying to get a top rated defense going, so I expect a close game that could go either way depending on who makes enough plays. My final score is something like 24-17, but as far as who gets 24 and who gets 17 I'm still having trouble deciding.
  7. Killer Cacti, glad you enjoyed Blacksburg. Isn't it ironic that we sell turkey legs at the games??? Too bad there is no Clemson-VT regular season game this year either. ACC championship? Haha. Too bad for yall there isn't a Clemson-VT regular season game. Those usually haven't turned out so well for us... I'm going into this season with low expectations. Last year I was so pumped up for the Bama game, and it just killed me that we lost the way we did. So this year, I'm going in with the attitude of being happy for every win no matter what. I'd love to make it to the ACC championship, but I'm really not counting on it. I've learned to be a Clemson fan... In all seriousness though, I loved Blacksburg and the turkey legs at the games, irony and all. Next time the Hokies are scheduled, I will make sure that I'm in attendance no matter if its in Clemson, in Blacksburg, or at the Championship game. Turkey legs? That sounds unbelievably cool. All we serve for food at the games is Valentino's pizza (probably has something to do with nostalgia, considering the first Valentino's was founded in Lincoln. Hokieluv, grab me a turkey leg and express ship it to Lincoln.
  8. did you just describe nebraska basketball? hmmmm........ possibly but at least we upset Texas this past weekend
  9. Man, I feel ya. It would be great to expand and add more siding on the East and West sides as opposed to the North and South. Geographically speaking, however, we can't extend the sides or else it will cut into businesses/classroom buildings so the only real solution would be to add more high rises.
  10. I honestly cannot wait for this game. Intangibles aside, we all know Nebraska is the better team, and I can't wait to see Missouri fans lose on their turf. It's time Nebraska outright embarrassed someone nationally again. Second of all, I'll bet you anything that Chase Daniel will get introduced as a special guest at the game. All the Mizzou fans will yip and holler, and then I'll hope even more that Nebraska wins so that I can see the look of utter distaste on his face.
  11. Probably because of some of the bad rumors that went around about it.. Honestly, I have no idea, and only a close knit group of people know. I heard from one person it had to do with him selling tickets and I heard from another person that it was because of criminal allegations. But this is one of those things we will probably never know and it's probably best we don't know.
  12. Ask and you shall receive: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80ea4073 Oh and in before it's not a fumble-rooskie. You, my friend, are awesome. I wish the clip was long enough to hear anything about the Huskers.
  13. I wish them the best but honestly..Levorson is from Crete. I'm pretty sure no other DI school's heavily recruited him, and he should know that practicing/playing with the best will make you the best. I wish I knew the reasons for his transfer. Nebraska is a once in a lifetime opportunity, why even commit and practice a full year if you are going to deck out on us? Something drastic must have occurred that changed his mind.
  14. We need some serious linkage to the actual espn footage of the play and exactly what the announcers said.
  15. LOL Hearing this news is almost like listening to Lou Holtz speak, I can't stand it!
  16. Same. I wonder how many of these polls come down to name recognition? Obviously, the better players get their names thrown around more often, but for only being 19 years of age I honestly don't recognize half of those names. I'm disadvantaged =/
  17. I was going to say something about that too. When you think of Thursday night games, you think of Ball State, USF, Rutgers, Mountain West teams, or other small DI schools. You don't envision a traditional powerhouse Nebraska playing against Missouri. For heavens sake it's a rivalry.
  18. Baylor still doesn't match up with the talent they have and their coaching against the bigger schools in the conference. Art Briles is showing progress, but Baylor is not a career making school. The second Briles gets an opportunity to coach at a bigger name school he is going to take it, no matter how passionate he is about Baylor (Gene Chizik and Iowa State anybody)? If Briles stays, Baylor will have some opportunities to win some games they probably shouldn't, but I still them being bowl ineligible next year and only winning against the weak teams they play.
  19. Really, a Thursday night game? I don't mind watching other teams play on week days, but I hate seeing my team play during a week day. Thursday night games don't get as good as ratings as weekend games. There's just something about a Saturday that makes the football season what it is. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic and should stfu lol.
  20. Meh, as much as I loved Ganz and wish he had been back for another year, I think two prominent WR's like Swifty and Pederson would have done wonders for next years starting quarterback. Ganz could manage a game and made a hell of a lot of good plays, but I think two is better than one.
  21. VaTech = not top 5 worthy. As much respect as I have for them, they do not have the talent/have not proven they have the talent to be top 5. VaTech is easily somewhere between #10 and #15..but not #5. Putting them above USC is mind-boggling. USC has averaged one loss seasons the past half decade almost, and it just blows my mind to think that that statistic alone didn't put them in the number 5 spot.
  22. Not so fast . . . What impressed me most about last year's team was the way they bounced back after big losses at MU and OU. After 4 years of tucking the tail (it was a tail, right?) between the hind legs after any loss, that is Definitely. I can't argue that we bounced back very well this last season. I guess I'm just saying we need to play well if we want to avoid those bounce back situations lol.
  23. so basicly the season will determine if this will be a signature win... it can't be signature if it doesn't propel the team to a great season. Consider the teams out there that knock off number one rated teams. Oregon State is the perfect example. They knocked off #1 USC, fell short against teams in the conference that USC beat, and lost to Pitt with a measly 3-0 score.
  24. There is a game on after the Superbowl?
