  1. Lucky will be fine !!!! I think that a lot of people still can't get over the fact that he wasn't Adrian Petersen as a freshman.... Too many people put way too much stock in the recruiting services..... He wasn't ready to be physical as a freshman, and a lot of people still hold that against him......the fact is, it is the fan's fault that he was a "disappointment", not Lucky's.....it is the fan that "set the expectations too high"....If you are one of those people, blame yourself, not him... He sees the field great, cuts very well, getting more physical and is our best receiving threat out of the the backfield...... He is our best back !!!!! BAR NONE.... And yes, if he has a breakout year, he will probaly bolt....this is why we need Castille to sign that freakin' dotted line tomorrow.... then he will have a year to mature and play with Glenn..
  2. This sux......IMO, the three guys that we couldn't afford to lose the most are: Ross Lewis Catille in that order...... if Ross would happen to "defect" as many think could be a possibility, this class would slip to be what I would consider a "good" class, but nothing special..... You CAN still win Championships with "nothing special"......
  3. Defense wins championships !!!!!! Not so fast my friend.....Manning and Co. hafe the monkey off of his back and is capable of getting on a roll.... Colts 24 Bears 13 * Now if Mike Brown was playing, my pick would be different
  4. If he improves as much next year as he did from his freshman year to his sophomore year, we will be just fine...... he is really starting to see the field well and not only follows, but is starting to set up his blocks..
  5. My guess is that we won't have any surprises, but if anyone bolts, I agree it will be Ross .....man I hope not.. I don't expect any "additions".....has anyone heard of any "rumblings?"..... I thought maybe that Gunn will decommit to Miami or that BAtes may decommit to ISU...... article in Omaha paper this week said both are solid...but maybe ????
  6. The article in the Omaha paper concerning Watson, hinted very strongly that Watson was going to be in the press box....in fact, Watson was paraphrased as saying he was excited to get "back into the booth" instead of on the field....
  7. This whole "tirade" against Osborne is the most insane thing I have ever heard.....either ONE, THIS IS A TROLL, or TWO, this is a anti-Husker fan..... TO is maybe one of the most "classy" coaches to ever coach the game.... He is in the HOF by the way...inducted EARLY, without the required 5 year "waiting period"...... His won/loss speaks for itself, his academic All-Americans rates at the TOP OF NCAA...... "bad kids" huH :asshat In 25 years, he may have had kids get into trouble, but during that time he recruited around 750 athletes...so a small number got into trouble......what about the 725 who didn't...but that wouldn't make your argument stand, huh.... TO is looked at as one of the best PEOPLE of college football of all-time....and not by Nebraska fans, but by nationally known coaches and analyist...... I could type all night, but I don't want to argue vs trolls or anti-huskers.... I will not disagree that BC is doing fine, and I will stand ebeside him......but the TO bashing is assinine.

    OT Dan Hoch

Says he has the size and physical tools to be a player......say he has a great work-ethic and will need it, becuase he needs to "bulk up" before he can compete, but is sure that he will get it done... Harlan is probably the most or at least one of the most storied programs in the state, and their coach is in the top 10 in the country in number of wins..... most of their kids end up at D-2 schools, so for this kid to go D-I says a lot...
  9. pigsonthewing......good one...."if he dies, he dies"
  10. I too think these guys did well for themselves... Bradley would surprise me in the 1st round....but possible mid-2nd....especially with guys like Ruud and Shanle earning starting jobs in the NFL recently... and I felt they were good NCAA, but not lights-out.. Carriker could go anywhere...1st round wouldn't surprise me....he is impressive....early 2nd at latest IMO Moore had a great game, but don't forget, that 2 of his 3 sacks happened because the offense misplayed the blocking scheme.....he was totally unblocked for 2 of the sacks, including the caused fumbles....He didn't have to "beat" anyone..... I like Moore, and thought he was underrated in our defense, so I hope he makes it big, but I feel he is probably 3-5 rd. guy... Just my unscientific opinion.
  11. Sorry Eric....I got off on rant....Pros-Cons Pros: TEAM, TEAM, TEAM.....wins-losses Cons: guy may have to really show well at combine guy may have to go without ind. honors BC is not judged by "individual honors", he is judged by Wins-Loss
  12. Here goes my "coaching" agian, and I apologize in advance.....ME, ME, ME..... I thought maybe it was only contained to young, immature, high school kids.... I am not saying that Adam is whining, because he probably isn't.....but I really would hate to see members of this board use this as "ammo" against Coz..... TEAM, TEAM, TEAM......what is best for the team is what matters MOST , and FOREMOST.... screw if Carriker could have had 50 sacks, if he is a defensive Heisman......if the defensive unit doesn't play well together, and we lose many games, does it really matter??? Hell, I stopped giving out "game" awards such as pancake and hammer awards....found too many guys more worried about stats than wins and losses.... The thing about NCAA and NFL, is that even if a guy can't "show-case" his talent during the season, he has ample opportunity to show off at post -season honor games and combines....
  13. I am trying ot figure out where some of you guys think that Lucky is being "coddled" or "favored"..... He struggeld as a freshman, but most do, unless you are AP....... maybe rivals missed a little on the 5 star thing.... I have not seen anything that has made me think that Lucky is given anything special....when BJ took over, BJ started and played most of the game...... The whole cotton bowl has been discussed to exhaustion, but damn, maybe BJ struggled holding onto the ball during the ONE week of work before the game.....when Lucky gets 95% of snaps during a 3-week pre-bowl session, Lucky DESERVED the start, even if he wasn't the "normal starter".....it was the only right way to handle it..... And Lucky played WELL...... Glenn has not shown anything to impress me to the point where I would even consider ahead of Lucky, and my god, Wilson doesn't do crap besides fumble and punish a poor CU def. back in "mop up duty"..... C'mon guys.....Lucky is the best that we have to offer, bar none.... he is not being favored......if BJ stays, I would bet BJ would start....but that is no the case...
  14. I was extrememly impressed with all 3 of those guys..... Congrats to the former Huskers.... I agree, how was Moore not highly considered (he may have been) for MVP.....great game... Carriker got props in pre-game show as teh guy who made the most of his week during practice and played well...even saw him as a down line-man in a 4-3 once... Bradley did just fine.. Made me proud of the 'skers today !!!
  15. Shawn Watson should be the OC.......he has 6 yrs. of OC at Colorado...... I know how much we hate CU, but he was there when they went to 4 Big 12 title games in 5 years....but was also there at the end of the run...when they fell completely apart.. He has also coached QB's at Miami of Ohio.... and has had 2 years of HC duties.... I believe BC wanted Watson all along, but it really doesn't matter if BC doesn't give up any play calling... Roark or Roberts would be great replacements...for recruiting purposes..... I honestly believe that BC isn't real concerned that Norvell left...In fact, I wonder with BC saying "we really need to evaluate and change things" (paraphrase).....wasn't kind of directed to the OC...... I wonder if he didn't kind of "hint" to Norvell to seek other opportunities...
  16. No worries here......... IMO, Watson was brought in to eventually be the OC.....this is why BC sweetened the pot with giving hm the recruiting coord. over Blake..... BC must have felt that having Watson at OC was more important than keeping Blake, or Blake would have ben rec. coord... Watson will do fine if need be....remember, we all had this discussion when Norvell interviewed at ISU...... It might not be that Norvell doesn't "like" NU, but it may be more than a lateral move...as many mentioned, maybe he would call plays at UCLA.... Dorrell may be on the "hot-seat" , so he may have an "in" to be next HC......
  17. Personally, I think the coaching staff dropped the balll with Leon....... Before some of you guys crucify me for questioining the "staff", please don't.... I am not saying they were wrong, just the fact that I think Leon never really got to settle in anywhere... I think this guy has a ton of tools and talent....He signed as an athlete, tried RB, moved to DB, played special teams, then during bowl practice, played WR for 3-4 weeks....Remember, this was all during his "true freshman" year, trying to adjust to college and college fb.... Then in the Spring, they moved him back to RB.... It is not a secret that BC's playbook is unreal...Here is a kid with all of this great abiltiy, but fell behind at every possible position, because of all of the "trial and error".... he became frustrated and moved on ..... IMO, I believe he will be an All-WAC player before he is done... I think he will return kicks, and be the type of player you suggested....18-20 touches a game, either running or catching..... Hawaii got a good one....especially in that system.
  18. The worst part of flying home from Dallas was knowing that it was over for another year..... I eat up recruiting, but in only a few short weeks, it is over also..... After the Super Bowl, I will go into a deep, deep depression until spring ball starts..... I hate it, I hate it, I hate it... I always have my high school fb to get my fb fix.....but I hate not watching football on tv... I love Nebraska BB, but I just dislike BB in general, especially to watch on tv.... Please, Spring ball hurry..
  19. Does anyone have a "scoop" or an inside opinion on how Potter is progressing or how he is projected to do? People keep listing him as the next starter at DE, and they seem to think everything is going to be okay... I want to know what makes people feel this way.....I DO NOT DISAGREE, I am just actually interested in facts or inside info.... Outside of his "special teams" plays as a freshman, not this season, what has he done? Remember, I am not "questioning" the fact that he will be great, I just would like an update on him. Thanks
  20. Well, I am the average high school coach and board poster, but I am assuming that stuckinchicago wasn't necessarily referring to me specifically, because if anyone checks almost all of my posts, I rarely criticize coaches for personnel issues or play calling.......so, with that said, I agree with almost all of your post chicago.... As far as the DB's coverage is concerned.... I somewhat agree.... you are better off giving a catch in front of the CB instead of putting a guy in position to obviously get beat deep... Now, my "average high school" coach's opinion on the deep ball coverage... Everyone always "complains" about DBs not "looking back"..... if you remember correctly, this is the same technique that Darlington taught, and is taught in the NFL..... a CB should only turn and look for the ball if he is in PERFECT position....meaning, he has contact with the WR.....yes, you are allowed to have a hand on the WR..... if you have lost contact, by turning around, you have basically given up ANY CHANCE of making a play on the man if you are "late" or "miss" on your "look"......looking back SLOWS you down immensly !!! If you have contact with the WR with your outside hand, read the eyes, and look and swim with inside hand..... If you watch, many deep balls are not picked by CBs, they are S helping over the top....most of CB picks come from out routes either played great by the CB or thrown poorly by the QB.... You will never see a CB "look back" for the ball unless he is in contact..... Good coaching by many professional coaches !!!! Now, I am an "average high school" coach, and do NOT CLAIM TO KNOW MUCH..... but I stand by my opinion that although Coz is okay, I LOVE MARVIN SANDERS and would trade Coz for him in a second.
  21. I am with ya Hunter...... I would love Sanders to be our DC.....
  22. Okay, I know that is completely stupid, but it got your attention...... Now that Parcells is out at dallas, myabe BC will bring him in to be HC ....... Parcells could be HC and BC would demote himself to OC..... Let's bring in Parcells to be HC, Bill Cowher to be DC, and Callahan can be OC....... Recruiting shouldn't be a concern. Dumb post, be fun.
  23. breaking news.......Parcells retires........ Who is going to be the next HC for the Cowboys? As a Steelers fan, I gringe at the thought of Cowher even being mentioned as a possible replacement......If Cowher even "interviews" for this job, I will boycott the NFL for the entire season..... (okay, mayber the Off-season ) Cowher is a Pittsburgh boy, no way will he go to Dallas. Stoop's name is being mentioned.
  24. Okay, this is way off the wall, and may make no sense to some of the "younger" members.....but I swear to you, Rex Grossman looks like "Eeker" off of the movie "Summer School" That movie with Mrak Harmon was on TBS last weekend, and everytime they show Grossman with his helmet on, I can't help but to think of that damn movie, and "Eeker" Kind of throws like "Eeker" too.
  25. As a huge Cubbies fan, i was happy to hear the news..... this kid can throw well... The way that I have it figured, he will begin in AA, and then make it to Iowa.....just before the Cubs call him up, they will trade him to the Pirates for some washed up center fielder..... He will then go on to be traded to the Braves and become an All-Star...... Cubs Curse.
