  1. You may not be intending to start flame wars, but let's face it, you are getting to be pretty good at it, and you certainly don't do anything to put the flame out once you have "unintentionally" started it. Makes me wonder if you really love Nebraska as much as you say. T_O_B I shelled out about $72 jack for an MBA from UNL over the course of 2 years, so I'd say it's where my heart is. While the mindless banter about flaming is entertaining, I will say that it does "appear" that NU does not get as many calls when playing high profile teams like Florida, Florida State, Penn State, Texas, and Oklahoma. I say "appear" because the calls are legit. When you do not have as much athleticism as the other team you are more prone to penalties and poor play. Haag is NOWHERE close in terms of speed with Shipley, and if he was a bit more athletic he would have been in a better position to turn and see the ball. (That said, face guarding is legal in college so he really didn't have to turn around, and I never really did understand why the commentators and the refs were so bent on using the NFL rules of pass interference). It is something that NU has endured for years: I have watched tapes and heard stories of "Sooner Magic" = more athleticism, I have experienced Texas going Amrish Puri (CALIMA!!!) on my ass and tearing my heart out = more athleticism, and I watched an incredibly talented Miami team toy with us in the Rose Bowl = MUCH MORE ATHLETICISM. This of course does not mean that we can not compete with, and beat these teams, it just means that we have to have that "punch you in the mouth, and will get back up off the mat quicker than you" mentality. Make now mistake we are on our way back, and I for one am thoroughly enjoying the ride!
  2. Outside of the BCS bowl the positions are just guidelines.....last year we were below Missouri in the standings yet the gator bowl selected us do to our traveling fan base
  3. If Mangino DID assault a player (which is still rumor at this point) he should be gone, if this is all about the on field results Kansas should take a long look in the mirror before they jump to a change. Constant coaching changes will reduce you to the "New Baylor" very quickly!
  4. Too bad for Kansas, I would much rather see KU #2 behind Nebraska than any of the following....Missery, CU, or KSUcks... That said, it will be interesting to see who they get as a coach if this does go down....
  5. I am not what many classify as a Lil Red hater, but it does always worry me when Lil Red falls to the floor and seizures for 15 seconds after jumping on it's head....
  6. I certainly would not mind playing Iowa! Me thinks the Big 11 is some how overrated (YET AGAIN) and nearly all of the bowl games will end very poorly for them!!!!
  7. A - Gotta love interesting debates.... B - Come on people! I am a recent graduate of the University and have now experienced many games from both the student section and the land of the blue hairs. What no one is saying is that when we are destroying UL-Lafayette and some jackhole is standing still in the 4th quarter, yes it is completely warranted for someone to ask them to sit. When we are in a 7 point game late versus Oklahoma on ABC's prime-time broadcast, it is completely warranted (and necessary) for fans to stand and cheer as loud as humanly possible. I was incredibly impressed with the saavy of the north endzone fans this past weekend, and it was almost as loud there as it was in the student section vs. Texas and Oklahoma in years past. Universal stances will get you nowhere people, it is okay to meet in the middle sometimes! C - Please beat KU!
  8. If recruiting is the only hang up, how does winning the Sun Belt title help recruiting? I guess I am in the minority, we are already playing Fresno State (the non-BCS flavor of the week when they were giving USC a run for their money in LA 4 years ago) & Washington. Do we really want another west coast team? While the staff does seem to continue their interest in West Coast kids, it appears to me that a majority of the players we are recruiting are from the south. Go with either a respectable program from somewhere either than the Big 11 or Pac -10 with a gap in their schedule as we do, or simply find a small school that is looking for a payday.
  9. Perhaps the board should invest in a suicide hotline for nights like tonight....
  10. I recommend staying away from sharp objects for at least the rest of the weekend.....
  11. Double Post...apologies....
  12. This one hurts, but we left roughly 21 points on the field. It was depressing to see all of the fumbles, but I think that the team WILL rebound. Its okay...Be bummed, drink a few extra adult beverages tonight, and know that things ARE moving in the right direction.
  13. Actually, wasn't it after the Fiesta Bowl pasting that Florida grabbed K-State's defensive coordinator and started to make a concerted effort on building a defense--or am I remembering incorrectly? Yes they brought in Bob Stoops to run the defense in 1996, the year after NU beat the tar out of them. But wouldn't it be fun to watch this years (or last years for that matter) Florida team and the 95 Huskers play! Talk about two incredibly well coached teams with quarterbacks that would refuse to let their teams lose.
  14. 1. Bob Stoops - scoreboard 2. Bill Snyder - sad team, but starting to look (and will be) better 3. Gary Pinkel - hate to admit it, but is a great coach 4. Mack Brown - with the talent that he pulls in every year should always win the south....why don't they? Next Five All Very Close 5. Art Briles - dude is making BAYLOR a respectable team 6. Mark Mangino - amazing turnaround with KU, will be a solid team for years to come 7. Mike Leach - big wins over OU and UT, cannot be overlooked. If only had a defense 8. Bo Pelini - reviving a traditional powerhouse day by day, will reach top 3 if offense does not stagnate 9. Mike Gundy - awesome hair and offense, will win the south at some point some day Jury Is Out 10. Paul Rhoads - ISU is playing with passion again, we will see if it continues all season 11. Mike Sherman - A&M should be much better, but they are beginning to show small signs of hope Oh No.... 12. Dan Hawkins - gets good recruits, team is consistently inconsistent, wins a big game once in a while, loses games that reflect poorly on the entire Big 12.
  15. While I would like to think that this game means that NU will beat KU, I know that KU was looking past an ISU team that they expected to beat. KU will give Nebraska one hell of a game, and I am still worried that Reesing will find a way to pull something out. Additionally, I think that ISU might be getting better than people give them credit for. Dangerous QB and moderately okay team. That said, I personally believe NU will beat KU on the road by 14. I just have not been impressed yet by Kansas....
  16. Um, what? Over the years, Kerkhoff has written more in support of NU than some Nebraska sports writers. This article was an opinion piece on the 'now'. He's not always correct, nor do I always agree with his opinions, but he does give credit to the Huskers in predominantly Husker hating eastern Kansas/western Missouri. I would go so far as suspect he may wear scarlet colored glasses. I thank him for his efforts! Don't get too upset NU fans. Mizzery has one of the largest and most prestigious journalism programs in the country. Is it really any surprise that many major media outlets have a distain for Nebraska? I don't think so. Even Shatel just published an article stating so! Just wait until after a rousing NU victory on Thursday night, and then we will hear about how lucky NU was to "escape" with a victory, and how "impressive" Mizzery was despite their loss. http://www.omaha.com/article/20091003/SPORTS/710049916
  17. Comparing Hawkins and Callahan is like comparing The Hindenburg and The Titanic. Laughed so hard I might have pee'd a little!
  18. Can I just say that this board has some of the best insight from Missouri fans that I have seen in sometime....I really appreciate the opportunity to get a rational look into the psyche of this opposing fan base. So thank you to the Mizzou fans posting here! That said..... While VT's run defense has been "maligned" this year, I think that their abnormal numbers are the result of an incredibly strong rushing attack from `Bama and an underrated attack from NU. I see NU controlling the clock, stuffing the Mizzou attack with greatly improved defensive speed, NU winning the game by 14, Gabbert playing admirably, and fans of both teams walking away thinking they will DEFINITELY win next year! Helu - 130 yards Defense - 2 picks of Gabbert Outcome - NU 38-24
  19. Great! He must not have gotten it done then, from here on out let's plan on late Sunday night for advances. I usually don't get home from my travels until around 11 pm so I think most people should be able to make good use of their weekend! I am glad to hear that no ones game got run over....
  20. I am sorry man! I had my roommate advance the dynasty for me last night as I was still out of town. But from here on out, I think I will try to advance it Monday morning or late Sunday night (post 11-ish). Again, sorry man....
  21. Two things: 1) BIG congrads on the little one!!! 2) I advanced the dynasty so whenever you are all ready to hop on it is ready for you!
  22. Sorry about the roster guys, I thought I had it loaded up so that we would have the real names but alas....I muffed it....
