  1. Just like he was clearly the runner up to Brown when their high schools played each other on ESPN in the fall.
  2. The only two guys it makes sense to fire are Cotton and Gilmore. I know many pine for Watson to be gone as well, but firing the offensive coordinator would gut our offense and then we'd have to go find a new one who can run the spread Bo wants, and then he might want to bring in his own assistants. Although Bo is loyal to a fault to his coaching staff (minus Ek, who was basically his whipping boy), I think if the TO or other higher ups convinced him changes had to be made, he'd be willing to cut Barney and Gilmore loose. Those two positions clearly haven't reached their full potential yet, and filling those positions would require a ton less effort than the OC position. It'd basically set Wats up to have one more chance to prove himself in 2011 as well, perhaps allowing him to bring in his choice of OL and WR coaches as well.
  3. Well done, sir. You actually came out and made a statement and didn't just throw out some vague drivel. Right or not, it is nice that someone actually said something solid. Guess we'll see come Wednesday whether you speak the truth. Still, either way, I like that I don't need a freaking decoder ring to understand what you're saying.
  4. Back to the original post, thank you Crabtree for your amazingly groundbreaking statement. I'm sure your average bear couldn't surmise on his own Prince has outdone his :star RB ranking. Brilliant. And it is great to have likely third rounders in every level of the defense next year. If they can step up and provide good leadership (guys who are that good need to), we can be terrifying next year.
  5. hmmmmmmm..... that would be a BIG SURPRISE...especially if the other followed. Im convinced there is something going on Hate to be a cynic, but that seems like Rivals pumping sunshine for UDub and NU fans, trying to sell some subs before signing day. Of course, I have no idea, but I bet there's nothing of substance in that article. Just a guess, although Rivals seems to produce less BS stories than Scout.
  6. Really? Would it kill him to just type tonight and tomorrow. The half second he saved made him seem about 40% less professional with his Tweets.
  7. Ok, by now it's fairly obvious Daimion isn't wavering in his pledge to NU. My question is, how likely is dude to qualify? It's been brought up before, but not really put to bed, that I remember. Anybody have any insight? Getting this guy cleared would be HUGE... he has the chance to be the next Gomes, with arguably an even higher ceiling. I really hope he makes it. It'd be definite boon to our somewhat depleted secondary entering next year.
  8. You don't think we'll fill all 6 spots with incoming recruits, right? I see us getting 4 more commits MAX. And that's if Peat swings our way, a big if. We'd also land another WR, one of the two LB's, and a mystery commit. Maybe 5 if you count Bass, but I don't think we get him. Whatever we don't use will go to walk ons, as per tradition.
  9. I will say this, unless Vick goes in and blows everyone away at Ohio next year, he probably won't be starting under center for a while. If I recall correctly, weren't they breaking in a Frosh QB last year who was pretty good?
  10. Apparently, I'm not the only one who's been enjoying Billy Madison on TBS the last few days. I'm holding out hope on Peat, even though all signs seem to point to ASU. Stranger things have happened... it's recruiting. Also, him announcing from his old school isn't that big a deal to me... It's not like that's some great indicator of him picking ASU. He probably just wants to make his choice somewhere he feels comfortable. Although it does seem likely to be ASU, it's not like Peat is going to drive to Lincoln and announce there. Now THAT would be a dead giveaway.
  11. that's nice and all except that pierce wasn't the recruiting coordinator, he was the lead recruiter. steve pederson was the RC. the recruiting coordinator's job isn't to be an awesome salesman, it's to be an awesome organizer. now, i'm not completely sold on gilmore as recruiting coordinator, but i can say that we've had three strong classes in the last three years. I actually agree with you, Dylan. My statement about Gilmore isn't really my true opinion of him... He's actually not a bad recruiting coordinator. People we start clamoring that he is when we have lulls in recruiting with no commits or decommits, but honestly, we have had three solid classes the last year. The staff did especially well closing out the 2008 class after being brought in after that horrendous 2007 season. Getting Fonsie out of NOWHERE, and PJ Smith, both a week or so before signing day was particularly huge that year. Escpecially Fonsie, to reel in a guy with no prior ties to us, shows they can get the guys they want, and fast. It's just Gilmore's total ineptitude as a WR coach that makes me . We all know you want them to block, Ted. We need to just make him an Oline assistant or something. An offensive line taught by Cotton and Gilmore... now THAT would be special.
  12. From NE Statepaper, courtesy of Sam McKewon: ***Barring unlikely, last-second decommits, my five favorite recruits for Nebraska's 2011 class: Homewood, (Ala.) running back Ameer Abdullah: Better than Aaron Green. There. It's been said. And that's no knock on Green, who's welcome to prove me wrong. Comparing the upside of both looks like this: Jacquizz Rodgers vs. Joe McKnight. I'll take the 'Quizz. Plus, I put a higher value on small running backs in college. I think they're hard as hell to find. Klein (Texas) cornerback Charles Jackson: Has the physicality, confidence and athleticism of Alfonzo Dennard. NU is just thin enough at corner that Jackson will get his crack at the two-deep next fall. Crete center Ryne Reeves: Go back and check it. Often when NU's been at its best, a great center led the way. Novak. Tinglehoff. Rimington. Traynowicz. Lewis. Young. Graham. Taylor. Raiola. The Huskers boasts 12 All-Americans at the position. Reeves has the size 6-foot-3, 300 pounds – and attitude to be No. 13. Offered on the spot at football camp during his junior year, Reeves would have been coveted coast-to-coast had he been located in another state. Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Safety Daimion Stafford: If his Chaffey Community College videos mean anything, Stafford will compete – immediately – for a starting secondary position. Perfect size at 6-1, 210. Fast. Gets to the ball carrier quick – with bad intentions. And he wraps up. His build is somewhere between Dejon Gomes and Lavonte David. And you know how they turned out. Arlington (Texas) quarterback Jamal Turner: Gamer. You get the sense he'd play anywhere and do anything that involved touching the ball. Turner is a good short-range thrower, a superlative runner, and blessed with a contagious, competitive personality. He'll change that quarterback room for the better. Rest of Article Pretty cool article, hopefully it'll help out a few of you bored out of your minds (like me) in the offseason. It's especially bad in this little pre-signing day lull. Loved what he had to say about Wats "trying to glue together 3 different schemes and 11 different skills." Hit the nail absoFREAKINGlutely on the head.
  13. I once wet myself at my old grade school, and no one cheered for me. It's hit or miss
  14. That's the kind of recruiting coordinator we need. Instead, we're stuck with lil Teddy Gilmore. I wish we could show him a tape of Pierce's interview, just so he'd know how to come off as personable and likable. Heck, at this point, with Gilmore, I think we should start with a Hooked on Phonics tape and go from there.
  15. Well, we all knew the coaches wanted to take another TE. This should close the door on any of you who were clinging to the belief we'd somehow get Bryant. Hopefully, Sutton can step up and be a good one for us... I have no idea how good the kid is. I've seen no film, although Rivals lists offers from Ohio and SDSU, a good indicator of a kid with a decent level of talent. No, we're definitely not on the same level as those two schools, but a lot of Nebraska kids don't even get offers there. Maybe he'll be the new Dreu Young? We need some depth, seriously. Young is gone (I think), Hill will be after next year, and behind Cotton and Kyler we have... JT Kerr?!?! Not good.
  16. Funny how now that we locked up Carter and solidified AA and CJ, the outlook has gone from a Chicken Little flavor back to peaches and cream. Not to be a cynic
  17. I think it's quite funny whenever Hogfan posts here. He comes in, guns blazing, and always gets his @$$ handed back to him, sore, and never replies back. Well done, guys. You're welcome here bro, but if you come here just to flame and dump on us, don't expect a pat on the back.
  18. One more statistics joke and I'll throw up a little in my mouth, as if someone suggested that CU were a legitimate team or Dan Beebe an legitimate commish.
  19. Here you go guys, lifted off my Eagles official website, Philadelphiaeagles.com. Hopefully this will allay some of the fears about Hagg doing poorly: "Another guy with unconventional size to impress in the secondary has been Nebraska's Eric Hagg, 6-1 1/2, 206. Hagg has played mostly safety here in Mobile, though he has experience as a corner and, briefly, as a linebacker. Hagg likely won't blow up the combine results, but he's been consistently around the ball during scrimmages and several scouts have mentioned him as a pleasant surprise this week." Posted by Bo Wulf, who does write ups for the website and I assume is some kind of correspondent. In any case, he's actually there watching the guys so it's good to hear positive news.
  20. Lol really... Q thinks so, huh? The BEST WR's in the B10. That's like being the tallest midget or the best DH in the NL. Just kidding of course. It isn't as run oriented as everyone thinks.
  21. We also have Ted Gilmore as a WR coach. That's like making a high schooler choose what to take to the prom... A stretch limo, a Hummer limo, a Mercedes, or the short bus.
  22. Lol ding ding... There's the bell, and the fighters come back out for another round. Please let this turn into an epic throwdown. I read a thread like that on bodybuilding.com the other day, and some idiot got torn to shreds. It was hilarious. Anxd that was the work of Roid monkey.
  23. Dang... Our scholly Oline class AND already three walk ins?? I can't speak for the quality of these guys, but dang... The law of averages is on our side. Some of these guys have to turn out. Good feeling
  24. Ahh... Where is coach eks bicep when you need it. To be honest, I heard that he left because: A) He was tired of being Bo's b*tch B) He learned, after getting it, that the Compton tattoo wasn't so temporary.
  25. Way to be a Debbie downer, Chris. Uncool man We do have some exciting young guys to be happy about, tho. Let's hope a lot of them do pan out.
