  1. And I know you guys are bitter because of Keeston flip flopping like he did. But remember... he had family/coach ties to KU. So at least he had an excuse. Moreover, if you would take Keeston back, where would you want to see him play? Most people project him as a WR/DB. I think I'd put him at safety. He reminds me alot of Niles Paul. A lot of people think Niles had All American potential should he have played safety. Just now some of his WR potential is coming to light. And Keeston is not even close to another Missouri WR prospect, Marcus Lucas. I'd take Lucas in a heartbeat. But Terry is an athletic kid who could help our team somewhere. And before you guys all pile on the "We do not want him back" stuff... we took Josh Williams back from CU after Callahan left. I do think most people would take a decommit back, honestly.
  2. That top LB that ended up going to SC woulda been Marquis Simmons probably... Four star outta Compton. http://rivals.yahoo.com/usc/football/recru...s-Simmons-61111
  3. I consistently use Ohio State's playbook with our beloved Huskers in NCAA Football 10, simply because I love its "Ponie" (Pistol) formation. Easy to make opponents look stupid running the triple option with a good FB, Cody Green, and Roy Helu
  4. Cory Ross was 10x the RB Rex Burkhead is! Maybe if he had played HS football in the metroplex he might get a little more respect around here. Corey was OK, I like the RB's that play with heart, you just cannot measure that.Get Helu health and NU will have a great combo at RB, and do not forget about Trey Robinson I'm a big fan of Trey. I've followed our recruiting actively since the 2008 (RS Frosh/True Soph) lass. I admit, when we got a commitment from Trey last year, I was unsure what to make of it. Bigger kid from a powerhouse in the heart of Texas. Not a flashy five star guy who was the focal point of his team's offense and a blue chip gamechanging recruit. I remember people questioning everything about him, from his ball carrier vision, to his acceleration, to his top end speed, to his cutting ability... and so on and so forth. He proved me wrong in what little time he was given this season. I thought (minus the boneheaded frosh mistake fumble vs. ISU), Trey ran very hard, punished defenders, and could develop nicely into a new rumbler back for us. It is too bad we had to burn his redshirt for such little playing time. I have a feeling a few years down the road, we may talk about him and his burnt redshirt much like we do now with Niles.
  5. Carl spoke at the Big Red Breakfast this morning, and had this to say about Jason: -- And of defensive end Jason Ankrah “has become the beast we thought he’d be,” Pelini said. Although he’s redshirting, Ankrah practices with the No. 1 defense. Ankrah WILL be ready to take significant reps next year, which bodes well for us as we lose Turner. Seeing him listed as a DE is nice, as that shows that he has not made a move inside to DT, as some thought he would. I think he could be an amazing end for us and really make some plays off the edge.
  6. Carl spoke at the Big Red Breakfast this morning, and had this to say about Eric: -Finally, when asked if true freshman Eric Martin would ever break into the defense, Pelini predicted that “he will be the defense.” Martin has been an absolute BEAST this year on kickoffs. I cannot wait to see what he can do when he gets on the field with the regular defense, once he's up to speed and just playing with reckless abondon. Once he develops that comfort, people are going to start talking about dear ole NU linebackers again. Also, Carl had this to share: - Pelini recalled a story of watching Martin play in a California all-star game alongside the top recruit in the country, who was headed to USC. Pelini said it was clear in that game who the better player was, even to Pete Carroll. "Every time Eric would make a tackle, Pete Carroll would look my way and just shake his head," Pelini said.
  7. Carl spoke at the Big Red Breakfast this morning, and had this to say of Thad: -Of defensive end Thaddeus Randle, a freshman from Texas, Pelini said he has the fastest feet of anyone he’s coached. “He’s going to be a special, special player.” I just had a feeling Thad was gonna fly under the radar, being a three star undersized DT prospect, and surprise everbody. This speaks volumes of Thad's hopefully bright future.
  8. That's what I've been hearing Fro. Although NU made the top five, most people think it is down to you guys and OU for his services right?
  9. Well yeah, by that logic, we'll catch up to Notre Dame very soon. But hey... aim at the other top dogs on that list. We've got a chance to take a one game chunk out of Texas' lead tomorrow, and Michigan certainly isn't doing themselves any favors lately...
  10. I don't know how we made Marcus' top five, but we seem to have shown very little public interest in the guy. We should get in on him. Most in Mizzou consider him a superior prospect to Keeston Terry.
  11. Gotta love the underdog role... I have seen ONE article that actually said we have a realistic shot at winning. And it was not even calling for us to win necessarily... just saying that we may have the right gameplan. One person I have heard pick us to win. Eddie George on a Rivals preview video. Love how everyone counts us out. That's why the game is played on the field. GBR!
  12. FWIW, someone on the Rivals board heard from someone in Texas who knows recruiting pretty well that Aaron is a heavy NU lean at this point. Apparently, in Texas, they think that it will be basically a fight between us and USC for his services on the gridiron. That bodes well for us, if Aaron knows how to read depth charts...
  13. And, regardless of whether Cody actually plays at all vs. Texas, remember one thing when weighing his performance this year: He is a true frosh who was put in command of a major college football team's offense and told to make it work (which, btw, is something that not even Wats himself has been able to do at some points this season!). Remember that Cody was inserted into an offense that lacked identity and needed a spark. Wats seems to have the offense constantly evolving. It would be reasonable to suggest perhaps Cody just could not get a grasp on it just yet. It is not the same as the wide open spread he ran back home in Dayton. That being said, he has shown flashes. He had a great strike to Khiry Cooper for a TD late in the Texas Tech game that was absolutely on a rope. And need I remind anyone of the 49 yard scamper vs. FAU? Now, given that was FAU, but he has still flashed ability and athletic ability so far. He just has not been consistent. However, I feel that at some point down the road, he will develop a comfort with the team. Part of his uncomfortability with playing QB at this point is just anxiety... of being a true frosh at the controls, of screwing up, and of Zac Lee waiting in the wings should he screw up. Obviously, Zac did come back in for him and I am fine with that. However, somewhere down the road, I feel Cody will get over all that anxiety. Perhaps it will be next year. Perhaps it will be after Zac is graduated and on to new ventures. However, I think Cody is the future at the quarterback position for Nebraska. He has a live arm and is a horse running the ball. I think eventually he will take over and do great things when he starts trusting himself and the offense he is running. I just wish we could've redshirted him this year. Alas, the Spano injury made it impossible. Maybe next year.
  14. Unfortunately, I do not know that no news is good news here. We haven't heard anything about McConico in a really long time. Thee last story on Rivals was in August, and the last story on Scout was in July. I, too, am really high on McConico. He ran at a 20 ypc clip his junior season. I felt if we could make a serious run at a runningback this year, it should be him. Of course, we took a shot at Gio Bernard and struck out. He has said he is solid in his commitment to Notre Dumb. We shall see. Unfortunately, I think even though they have two RB commits, if the Nike Univ... eh, Oregon... scholly is still on the table, he'll probably end up there.
  15. LMAO. What ever will Watson do???? Well, I would hope that if it ever reached that point- if our offense could no longer center around Zac's Usain Bolt-like running ability, that Watson may go a little crazy. Perhaps have a bit of a nervous breakdown and do something totally insane- such as calling offensive plays that suit the playing styles of the players currently on the Husker roster.
  16. Ahh, I am thinking the same thing nepolo. Let's meet up in Bo's office. Bring a lampshade to put over your head. Once we get there, we conceal ourselves; then it is just a waiting game...
  17. For all of you who are foaming at the mouth for Saturday to get here like me, a little bit more to tide you over. This episode has highlights from the CU game, as well as a recruiting segment where they interviewed Chase Rome and talked about Bronson Marsh. Cool interview with Rome... did not know his dad taught MMA. Can see how he would use that on the D Line. Quality kid. Also, I did not realize how valuable that final TD drive vs. CU was for us. The game never felt that close. I didn't realize that if Rex hadn't run one in to give us our last TD, that last bomb could have tied the game. Scary stuff. Also, at the end of the episode, they break down TU. Gotta love the NCAA 10 prediction for the final score. They allow the video game to simulated the game (they do not play as either team, just let the computers get it on). In the end, the game said Roy would run for 183 yards and NU would win 28-9. Screw the media predictions. A video game told us we will win. It will come to pass... GBR! http://netdb.unl.edu/bigredwrapup/
  18. Wow... it is great to see us have two solid DT commits in Rome and Guy, along with possibly Ankrah and the underrated Thad Randle from last year. What is awesome about it is that OU is scrambling for a DT and has now offered one WE cooled on. Sort of a role reversal from the previous years.
  19. Actually I would love to see the Huskers shut up the Iowa fans. Doesn't get too much better than that IMO. I'm with you on that boat Caveman. I live in Western Iowa, and the Iowa fans this year have been unbearable. I cannot believe they snaked their way to so many wins in the awful big 11, but if they actually played us, I do think they'd get straight up smacked, and it would be a perfect way to end my personal college football season.
  20. Weird, I must be looking at too much stuff, getting amped up for Saturday. Last night, I too had a dream. I basically watched the first half play out. Our boys roughed up McCoy and he wasn't able to do anything the whole first half. I do not remember the score. The last thing I remember was Colt getting interviewed before heading in for halftime (unrealistic) and being very flustered that nothing was working against that awesome Blackshirt D...
  21. Damn. If ZLee's ankle is bugging him at all come Saturday, our O loses an element... that gamebreaking speed. The bread and butter of our offense, the Zone Read and the Power Option run out of the I, will probably lose all effectiveness...
  22. I believe it's due to the scheme. IIRC, the DE's had similar production in 2003 when Bo was the DC. And if you've got Suh and Crick on the interior, why wouldn't you scheme to help them make plays? I think the scheme and Allen's toe are hampering him this season. Just last season as a Sophomore he was 4th on the team in Tackles Made with 52. He had 10 TFL's and 5 Sacks. Allen is really talented, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt this season. Not sure what exactly is causing his drop off in production this season, but I expect him to play better in a rebound Senior Year. Screw waiting until his senior year... Let's see him rebound Saturday night! GBR! Slay the Shorthorns!
  23. Back to my boy CC... If this is true, Wats needs to stay in constant contact and make CC remember WHY he chose NU. I could see why he would be rethinking his decision, with our O evolving into a power running game lately that does not utilize the WR's as heavily as it did earlier in the season. But Wats has said he wants to get back to running the West Coast/Spread offense, which CC could excel in. The kid is lightning in a bottle. Hell, put him in as a scatback. But I still feel CC is our top priority at WR this year. He could be a gamebreaker that could ignite our O in the coming years.
  24. I'm pretty sure MadCatNU meant to post that on Curtis Carter's thread...
